-Y/N's POV-
My eyes were fixated on the town square below as I waited for the squad below to give me any further instructions. Shigure stood by the door, with Nico who she tried to entertain with a conversation. Funnily enough, Shigure had also taken a quick liking to Nico, she smiled more often than usual when she was talking with him and also appeared to be less emotionless with him too.
"Are you guys gonna do anything? I'm getting bored over here." I taunted them through the phone,
"You offered to go up there." Guren retorted,
"Can I at least get the vampires standing guard?" I referred to the vampires who weren't exactly in view shot of the others, but were standing, ready to backup their peers if needed, "If you ask me, they really have no business just standing around,"
"Go ahead." Guren gave me the green light,
"Ok, D/N," I called my demon to action,
"Got it." He replied enthusiastically, "There's quite a few of them so we're gonna have to get rid of multiple at the same time," As he said that, 4 thin, streaks of purple shot out from the rifle, taking out 4 vampires below,
Their counterparts looked alarmed at the sudden attack, although I was quick to pull the trigger again before they could inform the rest of the vampires; soon enough I had gotten rid of the surrounding vampires just in time, so when the ones having a stand-off with the rest of the squad turned to them for backup, there was no one there and that was then the others attacked full force.
"Good job, Y/N. But there's still a good chance they might call for backup." I heard Guren through the phone,
"Don't worry, I've got a pretty good view from up here so I got that covered." I thought for a while, what if they had a device that allowed them to communicate with nearby vampires, "I'll also take out anyone who's too idle for my liking."
I shot a vampire who seemed to be distancing themselves from the commotion below, it won't be long until they discover me from up here,
As I focused on the scene below more, I noticed that the squad had split up into smaller groups, in order to take out the vampires much quicker; there was around 5 left. Goshi was helping Sayuri and Mito by forming illusions as they were more close range combatants, although I saw a vampire turning towards him,
"Guren, there's a vampire behind Goshi. I'm going to take care of it though." I warned,
I heard Guren yell at Goshi to move out the way, which he did just in time just before the vampire was shot. As it disappeared, another vampire clashing swords with Guren who'd seen her comrade disintegrate into nothing, turned her head in my direction and somehow we managed to make eye contact,
"Oopsie, looks like I've been spotted." I smirked,
"Don't turn your attention away from a fight" I heard Guren yell at her before he kicked the vampire and fatally slashing her.
3 left.
"Ask Shinya if he wants my help, I know close range isn't ideal for him." I sighed, as I saw him holding a vampire back with his gun,
"Shut up, Y/N." He yelled back as Guren reported back to him what I said,
"I can't bare to watch it. I'll try not to hit him." I aimed my gun at the vampire who was currently having a standoff with Shinya and fired,
It did take it out but simultaneously, narrowly missed Shinya, I watched him storm up to Guren and grab the phone from him, "When you come down from there you're dead."
"Is that a threat?" I chuckled, "Kill me later, shouldn't you be helping the others."
"Y/N, we might have a problem." I heard Shigure whisper-yell from behind me,
"What is it?"
"I can hear an intruder." She readied herself, ready to set the trap off,
"I'm going to have to leave you guys now." I warned over the phone,
"Hey is everything okay from your end?" Guren queried,
"We may have an intruder." I informed them,
"Ok, just shout if you need our help."
"Will do." I put the phone in my pocket,
"Nico come here." I waved him over and he ran over to me,
"Y/N, you were super cool!" He gawked,
"Thanks hun, but I think you're way cooler!" I ruffled his hair, "But for now stay behind me, and tell me if anything is weird, ok?" I asked,
"Okay." He nodded, getting behind me, his hands on my shoulders,
"NOW!" Shigure yelled, pulling the strings attached to the kunai, and I pulled the trigger, however the intruder was stronger than both attacks,
"Ah shit." I muttered to myself as I brought Nico closer to myself, Shigure looked on in horror at the new presence, or rather presences, by the doorway,
In walked Ferid Bathory and Crowley Eusford, a duo straight from hell,
"We're screwed." Shigure sighed,
"Oh, relax. We're not here to eat you. But I must say the little boy behind you, Y/N L/N looks rather ravishing, exactly my type." Ferid praised in an almost boastful tone,
"Your type?" My eyes almost bulged in shock,
"Of course, children's blood is the best kind!"
"You should be locked up." I pulled Nico closer to me,
"Never mind Ferid-Kun's weird taste for children, we come in peace- this time." Crowley smiles,
"It's incriminating when you say it like that." Ferid pouts,
"You incriminated yourself." I shot at him, "And what do you mean you come in peace."
"Well I did rough you up a bit last time, sorry." Ferid cheesed, "I would approach Guren but he seems a bit busy right now."
"You also beat up Guren." I pointed to Crowley,
"I said we come in peace though," Crowley put up his hands as if to surrender,
"Y/N, should I take Nico and tell master Guren?" Shigure suggested,
"Yeah, yeah go ahead!" Ferid waved her off,
"Don't answer for me!" I snapped,
Shigure took Nico's hand and cautiously looked behind her as she escorted him out the room.
Once they were out of earshot I folded my arms, "First of all, how did you know I was here."
"Well I know my subordinates weren't just disappearing by themselves, so I watched you shoot them to figure out where you were hiding." He explained, "I never thought I'd find you here,"
"Likewise," I mumbled, "And why did you approach me?"
"Well we need to talk to Guren Ichinose but then I figured you're also pretty high-ranking in the JIDA as well-"
"I'm not in the JIDA anymore." I sighed, "What did you want to do? Cause internal conflict?"
"No, no. We are dealing with internal conflict, just not within the JIDA." He shrugged,
"And where does Guren come into this,"
"His former lover, Mahiru Hiragi was a vampire at some point."
I clenched my teeth, at the new information, but I couldn't help but feel a small pang of jealousy hit me at the reminder of Mahiru and Guren's previous relationship,
"And?" I seethed,
Ferid opened his mouth to continue,
"Are you sure you came here to talk to me, or shit stir?" Guren was now leaning against the doorframe, with an unimpressed frown on his face,
"Ah, but it's true is it not?" Ferid challenged,
"I'm not denying that; but why are you putting her in a position where she can get involved." His eyes narrowed as tension filled the room,
Ferid chuckled, "My, my~ how scary. Anyway, my bad."
"Y/N, can you wait with the others, I'll join you in a sec." Guren addressed me coldly,
I shrank back a little, "Sure." I muttered, turning away from the confrontation,
"What kind of alliance is that?" I mumbled in frustration on my way out, at the now uneasy aura in the room.
