The sound of footsteps was heard as a man walks into a dark room with only fire torches around to provide a source of light. Armours of soldiers placed at every corner, the swords held underneath. A large throne decorated with beautiful ornaments stood out amongst the aura given by the room.
The man whose presence had distorted the silence of the room suddenly bowed before the throne. One knee on the ground and his head hung low. His long robe brushing the surface of the floor.
"My king we are ready for the meeting" He says
"Good!! Guards we may leave" A loud deep voice says
Suddenly, a large figure stood up hidden before by the darkness of the room. He was tall and was of a mighty figure, his white hair was cut short trying to hide his age. He wore an attire for a king, his torso hidden by his robe. His fingers beautified by the different jewelries. And finally, his adorned crowned placed on his head.
The guards quickly scurry behind him following him closely. Soon, they walk into a large room but not nearly close to the size of the other. But it was presented in a form which meant it was used for meetings. Chairs neatly arranged around a long table. People were already present in the room, each man taking a place on every seat.
Immediately the king makes his presence known, they all stand up and bowed down. His eyes roam round the room and he gives a slight nod in response. Four men were present with two guards behind each one. They could be distinguished due to their different dress codes. The man who had made the king aware, stood up ready to begin.
"As we all know they have been attacks on each of our kingdoms. At least every week, we are expecting a minimum of three fights within every kingdom. If we should continue at this rate, we will get worn out. We need strategies!!" The man says
"Let's mantle up the gates" One of the men says
"We should get new warriors" Another says
"Train our recent warriors" Another suggested
Suddenly a man slams the table and looks around the room harshly. His breathing uneven as he looks around the room furious. His expression shouted disgust and annoyance at the suggestions of his fellow guests.
"Every single one of you here know all these won't save us. We need them" He spat
"Ray don't start this" One of the man shouts
"Our kingdoms are in grave danger and you don't want to summon them" The man named Ray counters back
"We can't do that" Another man says
"They are too young you will say. Our kingdoms will be destroyed" Ray shouts
"We can handle this, we do not need them" A man says
"It will be too much for the young lads" Another says
"You may try to avoid this all you want but we need them now" Ray roars
"Enough!!" The King shouts
Everyone quiets down immediately at the voice of their king. He looked deep in thought withdrawn from the meeting. He stroked his beard and looked around. There was a look of conflict on his face as he tried to make a decision.
"I have thought about it and I think Ray is right" He finally says
"You can't do this" One of the men says
"Their lives will be in grave danger" Another says
"They won't be able to accept it" A man says
"They will have to accept it" The King says
"But....." Another tried to continue
"This is the end of this meeting. Ray you will be in charge of bringing them here" The King says with finality in his voice
"OK my king" Ray says smiling
"Do not disappoint me and remember this was your idea" The King says
"I will not disappoint you my king" Ray says
The king walks out of the room with a face void of emotion but he was conflicted about the decision he just made. Did he do the right thing? He stops at a door and dismisses his guards. Immediately he enters, his mask of mightiness and strength is removed. The room was large with a king sized bed in the middle, a desk and papers scattered around. The windows locked with only the one above the bed opened.
The king removes his royal attire looking tired. Suddenly, a woman enters, looking furious and points her finger at him trembling. Her eyes were red and full of anger. The woman looked old but beautiful, her skin pale but still had a beautiful shine. Her white hair packed neatly in a bun showing off her brown sparkling eyes.
"You can't do it Judah" She shouts
The first person to call the name of the King without a title. Instead of the face of the king to morph into anger at somebody calling his name, his face had a tint of fear and love at the face of the woman. As they say, only the shout of a woman can conquer the heart of a man.
"Francisca we have talked about it and its final" He says
"They can't do it" Francisca retorts
"They will have to" He says
"They are teenagers who didn't grow up here, they do not know our ways" She says
"They will learn" He says
"They are too young!!!" She shouts out of frustration
"I know" He says
"Judah you can't do this" She says again
"They are the only ones who can save our kingdoms" He says
"So the Heavens say!!! This must not be the time" She says holding his hands
"It is now, all our forces are down. We are coming down hard" He says making the queen aware
"We can survive, we have for all these years" She says
"That was then, times have changed" He says
"But still no" She fights back
"Would you prefer those teenagers knowing about their origin, them never getting to see their people" King Judah says
"Judah stop" She mutters
"They knowing about it but when they come, sees none of their kind but instead dead people" He says
"Judah" She murmurs
"And then they know they could have saved them, could have done something?? Trust me they will die of guilt!! Let them fight this battle" He says
Francisca falls into his hands as he soothes her trying to calm her down for he knew his words have had an effect on her. She treasured all four of them when they were little, and secretly watched over them now. She thought he wasn't aware but he was. He knew he couldn't stop her though, his queen had always been stubborn.
"You promise to protect them??" She asks
"Yes" He nods
"Keep them safe?" She asks looking at him
"With my life and don't forget they are also precious to me" He says
"I don't want them to but this battle is no longer ours. It's in their hands now" She says
"Enough about them. Rest my queen for you look gravely tired" He says
"True but you must be by my side" She says
"I promise" He says
She lies on the bed dragging the King with her and soon she is in a deep slumber, while the king thinks of the days ahead. Ray begins to plan for his mission, a woman beside hum. She had the build of a warrior, fierce and young, more than capable of fighting a group of men.
"We need all four of them at the same time" She says
"Yes it is not going to be easy" Ray says
"But we can't disappoint the king" She says
"Yes!!! Sasha get the girls" Ray says
"Not a problem" She says smiling
"I will deal with the boys" Ray says
Am super happy to start writing this book. My aim was to make the first chapter really intriguing and I hope I did that. Hope it wasn't too dramatic though.
