Kazee's POV
And..I just watched Nathan turned his back and walked away.
The view of his back mixed with the dark perfectly. I have never been this hurt. I just sighed and calmed myself. Gulong gulo na ako. Ayaw kong masaktan si Jairo pero namamatay naman akong nakikitang nasasaktan si Nathan.
I fixed myself before going back inside the bar. Nang napasulyap ako sa banda nina Nathan ay dirediretso na itong umiinom ng alak. Kita ko namang pinipigilan siya ng mga kaibigan pero sadiyang ayaw niyang paawat.
Nang makita ko naman si Jairo ay namumula na ang mata at tainga. My eyes flew from the liquors they've finished.
"My girlfriend is such a beauty!" Jairo exclaimed a stood up. Nanlaki ng mata ko nang lumapit siya sa akin.
Agad niya akong yinakap ng mahigpit. Nanlaki ng mata ko nang makita ang madilim na tingin ni Nathan sa amin.
I slightly pushed Jairo. "You're drunk." I mumbled.
He just chuckled and hugged me more. He withdrawn from his hug and held my shoulders. Nanigas ako sa kinattayuan ko nang dumampi ang labi niya sa akin. I tried my best to push him but he's too strong. Nagpupumiglas na ako pero hindi niya ako pinakawalan.
My hands flew over my mouth when Jairo fell on the floor caused by a punch from Nathan. Agad na nagkagulo sa bar nang hinigit ni Nathan ang collar ng damit ni Jairo.
I run towards Nathan and tried to calm him but he's untamable!
"Fuck you!" malutong niyang mura.
Jairo looked at Nathan without any emotion. Hinayaan niya ang nasa harap at hindi lumaban. Bago pa dumating ang mga bouncer ay nahigit na nila Zach si Nathan. My heart broke even more when he looked at me with tired eyes as I run towards Jairo.
Napatingin ako sa cut sa labi niya at may dugo na roon. Agad namang umalis sila Nathan at naiwan kami doon. I apologized for the people who witnessed the fight.
Pati si Louisa ay hindi nakaimik at tinulungan na lang akong inalalayan si Jairo palabas sa bar.
Hindi umimik si Jairo hanggang sa makarating kami sa condo niya. I followed him in his room as I got the first aid kit.
Naupo siya sa kanyang kama at malamig akong tinignan.
"Galos lang ito." malamig niyang sambit.
Pati ako ay hindi nakaimik sa malamig niyang trato. He...never treated me this way.
"Kazee."
Nanginig ang mga kamay ko nang makita kung gaano kaseryoso ang kanyang mga mata.
"Let's get married.. Please." he whispered.
I was speechless when he stood up and went to his drawer to get something. He kneeled in front of me as he opened the box. It was an engagement ring..
"Jairo.." I whispered. I covered my mouth because of too much shock.
"I..can't see my future without you.. Will you marry me?"
Agad na nanubig ang mata at tuluyan nang tumulo. He wiped my tears using his thumbs.
Unti-unti akong umiling.. Kita ko ang gulat.sakit..at pagod sa mga mata niya.
"Please..stand up." I pleaded.
His eyes watered... He looked away, still on his knees.
I kneeled down too so our eyes would be at the same level.
"Siya....pa din ba?"
I bit my lip and slowly nod. Through teary eyes, I saw how he wiped when a tear fell from him.
"S-sorry." I uttered in between of my sobs.
He smiled and caressed my face. "I know... I know that you will never love me that way you love him."
My shoulders shuddered and covered my face... I can't...I can't look at him. I'm too ashamed of myself. My guilt is eating me up. He's just..too good to be true.
"Jairo...I tried.. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
He smiled and pulled me into a hug. Napaupo na kaming dalawa sa sahig habang yakap niya ako.
"Don't apologize for not loving me back. You gave me chance to love you.. You let me love you... And that's...more than enough." his voice broke.
Mas naiyak lang ako at yinakap din siya pabalik.
"Loving you...made me the happiest man. I'm sorry if I made you feel like you are obliged to love me back." he whispered and brushed my hair.
"Jairo....Sorry. I'm so sorry." I mumbled.
"Shhh...I'm not mad at you, Kazee."
"You're....too good. Too kind...I hope you'll find the one for you." I uttered.
He chuckled. "Are you happy...with him?"
I nodded still my face buried on his chest.
"Don't feel bad...for choosing to be happy. Because knowing that you're happy with him...makes me happy too."
I know that Jairo is a good man but I never expected that he's this good. That night I slept with peace in my heart. I felt at peace knowing that Jairo and I cleared things out.
"Hey.. Wake up!"
I groaned when Jairo kicked my hips. Agad akong nahulog sa kama.
"What the!"
He only laughed. "Breakfast is ready!"
I mumbled curses before following Jairo downstairs. Nang makababa ay agad kaming dumiretso sa kusina.
"I've booked my flight back to Paris." Jairo uttered casually.
Hindi ako nakaimik at tinignan lang siya. "So I have a favor.."
"What is it?" I asked curiously.
"I want to spend the rest of my days with you before going back... Is that okay? I wanted to go camping.." He smiled.
I smiled and nodded. Who am I to refuse? He smiled. "Pack up your things. Don't bring designer clothes.. Bring comfy ones."
"We're going right now?"
He smiled and winked at me. "Yes. No cellphones. No gadgets. No internet. Only camera to capture nice pics."
Kaya pagkatapos naming kumain ng almusal, dumiretso ako sa kwarto at nagimpake. Simpleng mga plain shirts at pants. Shorts at cashmere sweaters lang ang kinuha ko.
I bit my lip when I saw my phone without any messages. I swallowed hard before dialing his number.
My hands are trembling waiting for him to answer my call.
"Hello?" His voice was so husky and cold.
"Uhm... Nathan. I..." I was stuttering because of too much fear.
"What?" masungit at malamig niyang sambit.
I heard a knock on the door on his background followed by a girl's voice.
"Breakfast is ready."
I heard Nathan sighed a bit. "I'm coming. I'll just..finish this call."
Parang may sakit na tumusok sa dibdib ko. Where is he? Bakit may babae? What the fuck was that?
"I... I'll be gone for few days." I uttered.
I heard his deep sighs. "Aalis ka nanaman?"
"I'll....be back."
"Nakakapagod maghintay, Kazee."
Hindi ako nakaimik. "Then don't wait! Diyan ka sa babae mo!"
Dahil sa sobrang sama ng loob ko ay pinatay ko ang phone at linagay sa drawer. I won't bring that damn phone of mine! I hate it! I hate everything!
"Kaz, are you ready?" I heard Jairo's knock on my door.
I inhaled deeply. I'll probably just enjoy the time I will spent with Jairo.
I know I don't need to assume..but my irritation ate me up! It was so fucking terrifying! Flashes of movies about cheating flooded in my mind and I hate it even more.
But my love for him is bigger than that. I trust him. Now, I'll just enjoy the remaining time left for Jairo and I. Because after this... I'll face the rage of my father... After this, I'll tell to my family about Nathan. I'll confess about our marriage. I'll fight for him. Thinking of my family especially my father made me nervous a bit.
But I am firm with my decision. I'll do whatever it takes so I will end up being with him.
Fighting for my happiness is not something to be scared of. It's something that you have to do... Para sayo. Para hindi ka magsisi.
At iyon ang gagawin ko pagkatapos nito.
