In bleach, you see him a little with another soul reaper. He is basically in the human world to get a soul reaper named Rukia because she broke a law. She gives her powers to a human named Ichigo the chapter before this his him in it.
And now she has to be killed for breaking the law and disobeying the soul society. Which is where the soul reapers and the soul lives it.
