Cloves PoV
I plop down beside Cato and smirk at him.
"Leya Briant? Really?" I snort slightly.
"What?"
"Don't try to cover it up."
"What are you talking about Clove?"
I roll my eyes at him.
Of course I can tell when he's lying. I've been best friends with him for years. People have even asked if we are dating, but no. Just friends. Nothing more.
"Leya Briant!"
"What about her?!"
"Cato, stop acting stupid. I saw that kiss."
He turns red, and refuses to make eye contact with me.
"So...you gonna ask her out?"
He doesn't respond.
"Heeellllooooooo?!"
"Um...I don't think so..."
"Why not?! You kissed her! And she clearly likes you! And you like her."
"Well...um...I don't think I actually like her..."
"What?! You kissed her though!"
"She kissed me...I didn't want to...you know hurt her feelings by just shoving her off."
"So you're just lying to her?"
"N-no...I told her I wasn't sure I wanted to..um you know...get too serious."
"You still kissed her," I mutter.
"She kissed ME!"
"Defensive aren't we!"
He glares at me, then looks away again, somewhat sheepishly.
"I still don't get why you aren't dating anyone. I mean, you have girls falling at your knees!"
"No I don't."
"Cato! How are you so blind?! Practically every girl in the school, would literally commit murder to go on a date with you!"
"Not all of them."
I look at him suspiciously.
"So you do like someone else! Who? I can talk to them! You know, find out if they are interested in you!"
"I just said she isn't!"
I scrunch my nose at him.
"Cato! Everyone is interested in yooooouuuu! Especially if I tell the lucky girl that you like her! Then she will realize 'damn! Cato likes me?! Wow I'm lucky! He's hot!"
He gives me a strange look.
"Whatever Clove."
"Pleeeeease!" I whine, "Give me a hint!"
Cato bites his lip awkwardly.
"I dunno-"
"Please Cato! I swear I won't tell anyone! Aaaaand, you know I'm good with secrets! I mean, no one but you and I know about the time at the cabin, wh-"
"No! I don't need to remember that! And I know you are good at secrets."
"Then TELL ME!" I beg shaking his leg.
He sighs.
"Well...she...she's got long dark brown hair..."
"Along with half of the schools female population," I reply
"A-and green eyes..."
I narrow my eyes at him.
"Okkaaay...Can't you just tell me her name?!"
He shakes his head at me, and stares at the ground, scratching the back of his neck.
"Cato, continueeee!"
He glances up at me awkwardly.
"A-and she's got...got these adorable freckles all over her face."
I furrow my brow.
Wait...what?
We make eye contact, then suddenly I feel his soft lips against mine.
