THE CUT - ON THE WAY TO THE CHATEAU
"So you found the gold?" Sarah asks.
"Yes." John B says.
"But under an axe murderer's house?" Sarah asks, referring to the Crain house.
"Well- yeah. Kind of." John B says.
"That's perfect." Sarah says.
"I mean the only thing is that the well is like super sketchy deep." John B says, they were walking together back to his house.
"Kinda wish I was with you guys." Sarah says.
"You'll be there for real tonight." John B reassures Sarah.
"Is it okay? Violet's your sister but like-" Sarah asks, referring to Kiara.
"Yeah, of course." John B lies. He kinda just hoped everything would go together somehow.
"What? Vlad and Val gotta be together right?" John B asks.
"No- no I mean with the others." Sarah brings up the rest of the pogues.
"Yes, everything's fine." He says, she couldn't help but feel like she was being lied to. There was no way Kiara would agree to it. Sarah gave John B a look that indicated she knew he was lying.
"What?" He asks.
"Kiara said something didn't she?" Sarah asks.
"N-no." John B says, in a higher pitch. He was lying.
"You're the worst liar I've ever seen." Sarah says.
"I'm not lying-" He was cut off by Sarah.
"Look, if she's gonna get territorial-" Sarah was cut off by John B.
"Hey, hey- just listen alright? You're a part of this too. You got us that Tannyhill map. Once we get with everybody they're gonna be excited. I promise." John B says, Sarah couldn't help but feel like she was walking into a trap.
THE CHATEAU
"No fucking way! So what? You brought her here so she's in on this now?" Kiara yells. The pogues along with Sarah were all on John B's front porch at the chateau. But Violet was still not there yet, she was on the way after patching up Rafe Cameron.
John B looks to the boys for some type of support.
"I dunno." Pope says, shrugging.
"Look, all I care about is that her cut comes outta your share." JJ says.
"You know, I don't remember taking a vote! This is our thing! A pogue thing!" Kiara yells.
"I gotta say, I'm just a tad bit uncomfortable with this." Pope adds.
"Thank you!" Kiara says. It felt like everyone was just attacking Sarah for no reason.
"When are you not uncomfortable?" John B asks.
"I don't know, I rode here on the back of JJ's bike pretty comfortably." Pope says.
"It's true, most relaxed I've seen him." JJ adds.
"That's cute guys." John B says, annoyed.
"You know we were all extremely comfortable until you brought her." Kiara says agressively.
"Stop talking about me like I'm not here!" Sarah yells. Violet was approaching the porch of the house.
"Then leave!" Kiara yells.
"Wow- save any drama for me?" Violet comments sarcastically. Seeing the two girls go at it was entertaining for her.
She got on the couch JJ was on, pushing him to scoot over, but he just wrapped his arm around her and put her on his lap. They were all too busy arguing anyways.
"I told you." Sarah scoffs.
"Told him what exactly? That you're a liar?" Kiara asks.
"No, that you're a shit talking bitch." Sarah snaps back.
"Oh shit." Pope and JJ both say.
"My money's on Kie." JJ says, pulling out cash and betting with Pope.
"My money's on Sarah, always root for the underdog." Violet says.
The last time she said that about a fight was at the Boneyard when Topper and John B were fighting. And now it was Kiara and Sarah fighting.
"Oh yeah? When have I ever lied to you?" Sarah asks.
"I don't know get close to someone for a month-" Kiara was cut off.
"I didn't lie about shit!" Sarah yells.
"Yo big bro! You got any popcorn?" Violet teases John B.
"Everybody shut up!" John B yells, getting sick of all the fighting.
"Kie, you are my best friend? Right?" John B asks.
"Oh, this is gonna get good." Violet says to JJ and Pope.
"And Sarah you're..." John B trails off.
"Shit's about to hit the fan." Violet says, turning around to Pope and JJ.
JJ pulled her in closer and wrapped his arm around her waist. She was just sitting on his lap anyways, and no one noticed them anyways, it was always about John B.
"You're my.." John B says.
"Say it." She says, smiling.
"You're my girlfriend." John B says.
"Oh." JJ says, nodding. He was expecting it, just not for John B to admit it.
"That's new." Pope says.
"And I'm your sister! Only 25% though." Violet says, mocking John B.
"She's your girlfriend now? What was all that talk about using her for information? Get a map, cut her loose." Kiara asks, crossing her arms.
"You said you were using me?" Sarah asks, hurt.
JJ slowly trailed his hand onto Violet's thigh, grabbing it. The three were just there making fun of Kie, Sarah and John B.
"This is better than netflix." Violet comments.
"No." John B responds.
"Yeah you did." Pope corrects.
"You said those things." JJ adds in.
"Violet?" John B asks, pleading for backup.
"I plead the fifth." Violet says, crossing her arms.
"Look, love just walked in, okay?" John B says, defending himself.
"I'm going to barf all over your porch." Violet comments.
"Oh vomit." Kiara says.
"I didn't expect it. It just—it just sort of happened." John B defends.
"I am so glad we said no strings attached." Violet mutters to JJ, who sticks out his hand and does a handshake with her.
"And I'm not gonna deny it. Right?" John B says.
"Oh! That's corny." Pope says. JJ and Violet both pretend to retch and induce their vomit.
"Oh you two act like all of us don't know you're screwing." John B snaps back at Violet and JJ.
"We separate business and pleasure, John B." Violet says, scrunching her face.
"Look, cut the bullshit John B. If she's in, I'm out." Kiara says, giving an ultimatum.
"Kie, I'm not doing this. I can't." John B says.
"He just dug his own grave." Violet comments.
"You are gonna decide! I'm very interested actually? Me or her?" Kiara threatens.
"Me or her?" Violet mocks, in a high pitched voice, getting laughs from JJ and Pope.
"Both." John B says. Pope whistles.
"Went for the hail mary." JJ comments.
"Should I just bury him before he gets cremated alive?" Violet asks.
Kiara storms off, upset.
"It'll be cool right?" Sarah mocks John B. She was clearly hurt.
"I'm gonna leave, gonna let ya'll chat. Let me know." Sarah says, getting up and leaving.
"Wow it's like Midsummers dinner all over again." Violet says out loud.
"I'd just like to say, you handled that beautifully." JJ says.
"So beautiful. Like the sunset in Yucatán." Violet adds on.
"You've been to Yucatán?" JJ asks, surprised.
THE DOCKS
"Corpses cry too, you know? Well they secrete fluid from their eyes." Pope says.
"Maybe not compare my feelings to secretions?" Kiara asks.
"Technically it's discharge." Pope says, getting a grossed out look from Kiara.
"I'll stop talking now." Pope says, awkwardly putting his hand over her shoulder.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"Just.. uh.. I don't know." Pope says.
"Just be your usual weird self, okay? I hate John B right now." She asks, sniffing.
"Look, its just because I know how this ends. I've seen this movie. I starred in it. I mean freshman year, it was my first year at the kook academy. You know how intimidating that is? And one of these things is obviously not like the other. I mean I didn't have anything in common with anyone, and just as I'm about to slit my wrists, the queen asks me if I wanna go save baby sea turtles." Kiara says. Sarah did the same thing with the mice after the hurricane too.
"Our first day together, we walked to the beach. We waited for the hatch and we kept the seagulls off so that the turtles could get into the water." She finishes.
"That actually seems kinda nice." Pope says, awkwardly.
"It was the best day of my life. And then she turned on me like she does with everyone. Look, I'm not doing this with her. He's gonna have to choose." Kiara says.
"You know he can't do that." Pope says.
"Why not?" She asks.
"Because he's an idiot." Pope says.
THE CHATEAU
"What'd she say?" John B asks, throwing him a water bottle.
"That you're an idiot." Pope says.
"It's a no brainer, you're picking Kie." JJ says.
"Look, I can't make a decision." John B says.
"So what? We're just dead in the water cause you're pussy whipped?" JJ asks.
"We can't do this without Kie and you know it." JJ says.
"And I can't do it without Sarah. Okay? they both have to be in on it." John B says.
"Well good luck with that." Pope says
"They're both already rich anyways." Violet says, crossing her arms.
"So are you!" John B says.
"I don't want the money!" Violet yells.
"You know what? This was my fault. But it's our problem. I've got a plan." John B says, looking at Violet. Pope and JJ looked at her too.
"What? Why are you all looking at me?" Violet asks.
"I think you know why." John B says.
"Nuh uh I'm not doing operation parent trap." Violet says, shaking her head.
