I wake up the next morning to someone shaking me, softly. I open my eyes slowly and see Lauren bent down in front of me.
"Where's Camila?" I ask as I stretch
"She went to the airport. You'll see her at the concert. She might come to see you in the room you're going to stay in."
"What room?"
"We're going to put you in a room while we're at the venue to make sure Camila's mom won't see you. After the concert, you'll have to stay in the bus's lounge, okay? We're going to move all your things there in a little bit."
"Okay," I respond quietly
"Alright, go get ready. Your breakfast is on the table."
I get off my bed and walk, with my head down, to the bathroom. When I finish getting ready, I walk over to the table to eat.
I don't eat my food. I just move it around my plate using my fork. Normani, Ally, and Dinah are sitting around the table while Lauren is standing next to my seat. They're all giving me concerned looks.
Dinah softly asks "Sky, why are you still sad?"
"It's not like you won't ever see Camila again, honey," Manis says rubbing my hand softly
"Hey, we have the whole morning to ourselves." Ally says enthusiastically in an effort to brighten the mood. "Do you guys want to take Sky out?"
"What would we do?" Mani asks
"Sky, honey, what do you want to do?" Lauren asks touching my head
I shrug.
"Come on. There has to be something you want to do." Lauren says as she bends down to my level.
I look at her, then back at my food and shrug.
Dinah says "Ooo, how about we go to the movies?"
"Sure," I reply dryly
"Alright, let's look up what Sunshine Cinema is playing today." Ally says
"What about the Fifth Wave? I heard it was a good movie!" Mani suggests
"I'm down. Monkey, you wanna see it?" Dinah asks
"Yeah, I was going to watch that movie with my....umm never mind." I look away
"Sky, you okay?" Lauren asks putting her hand on my head
"No," I hug her tightly as I began to cry. She sits down next to me, hugs me and kisses my hair. I say in between cries. "The people that I love are always the ones who leave me behind. Are you guys going to leave me too?"
"No, honey. We could never leave you, baby." Lauren says
"Yeah, you're like our baby sister. We love you so much, honey," says Ally as she gently holds my hand
"I love you all so much. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Awh, we love you too," Mani says hugging me and giving me a kiss on my head.
Dinah comes over and gives a kiss on my forehead too.
Once everything settles down, Dinah says "Alright, so we're going to see The Fifth Wave, right?"
"Yeah, it's on at 11:30. Ally responds. "It's 10:30 right now and the theater's 50 minutes away. We should probably head out."
We all get up and start to get ready, then we head out. We watch the movie and then head to the venue.
The movie was amazing and probably one of my favorite movies, ever. I wish I could've watched it with my friends though. We were planning to watch it together the day it came out, but it clearly didn't happen.
Once we get to the venue, Lauren takes my hand and we walk towards a room. Once we get in, Lauren says "Alright, stay in here and be quiet. We don't want anyone coming in here and see you."
I nod and she turns around to leave, but I call her name out. She looks back at me and I say "I-Is Camila going to come?"
She looks at me with soft eyes and says "I don't know, honey. I'll see."
I slowly nod and look down. "Alright, I'm going to leave. We'll come in to check on you, okay?"
After a few more seconds, she leaves and locks the door behind her.
I think to myself as I look around. So, this is the place I'll be in for the next two weeks, huh?
It reminds me of the room that Camila brought me to when we talked privately at the first concert I went to.
I sit on the couch hoping for Camila to come in. Later, the door starts to open. I think it's Camila, but it's just Mani with my dinner - which is 8 potstickers.
Mani smiles at me and I smile back. I ask "Where's Camila?"
"She can't come today."
"Why?"
"She couldn't ditch her mom. Don't worry. She'll more than likely be here tomorrow. Here, eat your food. I'm going to spend some time with you, but I have to go soon."
"No, it's fine. You can leave."
"Wow, I'm hurt." Normani says acting hurt and holding her heart, "You don't want me to stay?"
"N-No, it's not that! It-"
Normani cuts me off and says "No, save it! I'm definitely staying now."
I laugh and roll my eyes.
"You like the potstickers?" Mani asks
"Yeah, they're delicious" I reply
We talk for a while, then she leaves and I go to sleep.
Ally manages to sneak me into the shower when no one was looking. After, she sneaks me into the back of the bus. They make a small bed and all my stuff is put neatly in the corner. There's a bear on my bed. I grab it and go to sleep.
The next day goes by exactly the same, except, we don't go out. Camila still doesn't come to see me. I miss her.
On the fifth day, we do our normal routine and I am locked in the room again. I sit down on the couch and think to myself, why did Camila not show up yet? She promised me she would come. Maybe she just doesn't have time.
While I'm thinking this, the door opens. I look up the door and then look back down.
It's just Mani bringing me food.
"Hey Monkey!"
wait, that's not Mani....isn't that...?
I look up and see Camila standing in front of me, smiling. I jump off the couch and run to her. I hug her tightly. I can't stop smiling. She finally came to see me! She kept her promise!
"Wow Sky, I missed you and all, but you're going to make me drop your food. One second."
She puts down my plate and turns back to me. She picks me up and hugs me tightly as she says "I missed you so much!"
"You're lying! If you did, you would've come to see me sooner." I reply looking at her.
"You don't think I tried, Monkey? I couldn't find a way to leave without my mom noticing. She's leaving in five days, so I'll see you again real soon." She gives me an Eskimo kiss and then puts me down.
"I have a question. When's the next time we're staying in a hotel?" I ask
"Didn't the girls tell you?" Camila replies
I shake my head, no.
"We're going to be at the hotel tomorrow morning. We're driving to Virginia tonight. I might be able to come to see you tomorrow after the interview."
"Interview? Am I going to come for that?"
"No, you can't. My mom's going to come with us. One of the other girls will stay with you."
I sigh "Why can't you just tell your mom?" I mumble under my breath
I thought I said it quietly, but I guess not because she responds to me "This isn't some little thing Sky. We can get into some serious trouble and that would hurt my parents so badly. I don't want to hurt them."
"But you can't get in trouble by the law. My so-called parents didn't complain and if there was a problem they would be on your side."
"Sky, there are some things that you won't understand." She says as she bends down to pick up my plate and hands it to me. "Here, eat your fried rice."
I eat it and we talk for a while. When she has to leave I hug her and she gives me a kiss goodbye. I really don't know why I miss her so much. It's probably because I spend the most time with her and she's the one who always took care of me. I guess I'm just more attached to her.
