A/N: I just want to say I was also going to do these guys: Takizawa,
Amon, Akira, Juuzou and Hide but with me already losing the will to live with how long this was I'll make sure to put those characters first before the others next time.

Thanks for reading,
Dream x

__________
Your family do/don't approve of them.
___________

Kaneki: He had typical black hair, spoke softly, kept his head in his studies and wore clothes fitting of a mature young man. He was any parent's wet dream, especially your's considering your rebellious nature.

Who would've thought that the black sheep of the family would round up such an innocent boy they thought as they marvelled at his good influence. It was strange to agree with your parents on at least something and there you were, in a pretty black dress while holding his hand tight as you introduced the two parties.

He was the only person who could bring you down, the only person your parents liked. And even if that didn't mean much to you, it did to Ken Kaneki.

"I think they liked me" he blushed.

"You think? Well, I know".

Ayato: He screamed trouble maker as soon as he walked through the door and your parents could just smell Aogiri on him. Your family were the nice kind of ghouls (even if that's hard to believe). You received food from Anteiku and unlike other teenage ghouls, you were studying in high school along with humans, like a human.

At first, that freaked Ayato out until he looked down on you in disgust. But, after weeks of running into each other, you couldn't help but develop feelings; even despite his affiliation with the ghoul terrorist group. So your parents couldn't approve. Instead, your father's kagune burst from his back and threatened the boy into the shadows.

It had been years until you saw him again. Once you turned eighteen, you fled from your parents house and ran to the 24th Ward where you could be free with Ayato.

"You took your sweet time, (Y/N)",

"Better late than never".

Touka: Coming from a religious household was the first strike, being gay was the second and the third was being with a ghoul. Even when Touka was such a creature you couldn't help but love her like a human. With her Ukaku and deep, crimson orbs you only found her to be an angel in her appearance rather than a monster.

And even though at first you tried to stay away, you found you couldn't as you dreamed and yearned to be beside her; it was as inevitable as the sun rising at dawn. So, you plucked the courage to come forward- impulsively so- to your parents.

You expected hatred, the spit of disappointment and disgust. But instead, your mum reached forward and pulled you both into a hug. You never thought her chest could be so warm or smile could be so bright. It was a foreign experience that only made you cry harder into her cardigan.

"I thought you said they were deathly religious?",

"I guess in a good way".

Nishiki: Your dad took one look at Nishiki and slammed the house door closed. He used the excuse: I know boys like that because I was a boy like that. It got on your nerves how he judged him, standing from his ivory tower like he wasn't a ghoul too. Later that night, he explained how he could smell the trouble rolling off your boyfriend in waves. He was probably right but that didn't bother you so much. He dated a human once, you knew that, so you supposed what bad could he do to you if he couldn't hurt her?

But, despite this logic and you explaining it to your dad, he still up and refused to accept the boy. That's why you were currently on a plane to South Korea, making your last sanctioned call to Nishiki.

"What do you mean I can't see you again?",

"I'm not coming back to Tokyo",

"So where are you? I'll come to get you right now, just say the word and I'm there",

"I'm on a plane Nishiki",

"A plane? What do you mean a plane? Tell me this isn't some sh*tty joke... (Y/N)!",

"I have to go now. I love you",

"(Y-".

Tsukiyama: Shuu was a rich man and believe it or not, your mother approved of him just for that reason. She knew of the Gourmet and his respect amongst the ghoul community, to have her foot in the door was her one step closer to high society.

That's why you were currently wearing a white dress and walking down the aisle with her nails digging further into your skin with each step. Tsukiyama could see the pain on your face despite wanting to enjoy this moment, he could even smell the blood that made his body thrum. This woman beside you, was nothing but prey to him once he smelt that red liquid of life leaving your body.

That's when he decided that even if he gained her approval, it was nothing to strive for, especially when he knew she'd be dead by the end of the night.

"You want to kill her? Are you serious Tsuki?",

"When have I been anything else?",

"Don't lie, it doesn't become you",

"So that's your stamp of approval?",

"Could it be anything else?",

"No, it couldn't be, mon amour".

Uta: He had everything a parent wouldn't want in their daughter's boyfriend. He had tattoos decorating his skin, hair not typical for a man (or anyone) and his job wasn't necessarily what your dad had in mind. He was a mask maker and that only meant one thing to your CCG dad: he obviously had ghoul costumers. Your father wanted your boyfriend to be an upstanding citizen with a stable job in finance but instead, he visited your apartment to find a ghoul straddling your waist as he bit, nibbled and kissed down the pulse of your neck.

He screamed profanity when he saw you two, his eyes wide in hysteria while he watched you shoot up and nuzzle against Uta's chest to hide your nakedness. Could he comprehend what he was seeing? No, he really couldn't. So as you breathed heavily in fear Uta glared over at your dad adorned in his dove white coat. That's when you felt his murderous intent, it made you shiver in nervous anticipation. And that's when you knew, even if you loved him, you'd rather him be alive than dead.

"You think me weak",

"You're definitely not weak Uta but... my dad has connections in the CCG- strong ones, one on the one you'd win but twenty on one...",

"Doesn't matter",

"Well I don't want my dad dead either, I love you but... I can't choose between you two",

He sighed tiredly, "this was inevitable wasn't it?",

"Yeah... so just laugh it off like the clown you are and know I'll always carry you with me".

Yomo: There wasn't much else to say. Your family didn't like him in the first place and your siblings always said he seemed too stoic to be human. Maybe they were right, even more so as you turned into an alley and caught him feasting on a corpse. It didn't seem to suit him, the way his eyes shone like a predator and his face was smeared with crimson blood. In the back of your mind, you could hear your family shrug and say: I told you so as your boyfriend rose from the concrete and tried to approach you.

You tried to say his name but nothing came out, only a hoarse whimper of fear as he proceeded to cup your face in his hands and caress your teary cheeks with his thumbs. It was so soothing despite the backdrop behind him. You knew there was this gut feeling but even with that and the disapproval of your family, you couldn't pull away.

"I bet you hate me now. How I lied... I'm not always like this but I just got hungry, you understand right? How could you understand though? You're only a human",

"I c-can try to understand",

"Well, that means nothing if you can't".

Itori: She was sweet and sociable and your parents loved the Helter Skelter; the discount they got only added to the package deal. They loved Itori and the way she made you smile and held you close, there was something about you two that defined love. If you broke up, your siblings believed that meant soulmates didn't exist after all. What a thing to laugh at but inside you and Itori just giggled from the acceptance.

Ghoul Love was normally something based on strength but once you saw her, nothing like survival mattered, especially as you drowned deeper into her amber eyes. You knew the moment your gaze locked that she was the one for you and no one else could matter more. She was the love of your life, maybe that sounded cheesy but it was true. You melted in her hands and like putty you did anything she wanted.

"So that means I can borrow that dress?",

"The blue one?",

"With the frilly ruffles?",

"The one you bought me for Christmas?",

"... yes...",

"It's in the wash, I'll hang it in your closet later",

"Did I ever tell you I love you?",

"Five minutes ago".

Yamori: It's not that they did approve of him, they were made to or else. Yamori
-better known as Jason- was scarier than the CCG's grim reaper and you were sure your parents would rather be hidden away in Cochlea than face the wrath of your husband. His method of torture was unbecoming of the ghoul species and made you cringe and curl your toes as you were made to listen. The screams haunted your dreams and had you awaken in the early hours of the morning with a shrieking cry; ironically, it was only him who could soothe you back to sleep with the same hands that forced those screams to ricochet off the walls.

You loved him, you truly did but, with the masked approval of your parents every time you went out for dinner you couldn't help but feel your heart clench. As ghouls they were already oppressed by humans, they didn't need the same treatment from family.

"Can't you just lighten up, they're already nervous enough",

"It's not my fault if they can't handle my presence",

"I assure you, honey, it's not just your presence they're nervous about",

"Then what is it",

"The fact that I love you despite it".

Naki: Did your family ever stop telling you they loved Naki? No, they knew every different way how. He came to every family outing in a nice white suit with his hair neatly slicked back, accentuated by blazing red eyes that were simultaneously innocent. He was polite and never swore and managed to keep his manners despite the many times he rejected your mum's offer of dinner. Naki was perfect and entirely loved by your relatives, they even made a bet to see how long it would be before he proposed. You found it cute... until you met big bro.

You'd heard about him many times before but actually meeting him in person sent fearful shivers to rattle your body. He was tall and extremely intimidating, the complete antithesis of your adorable boyfriend who strived to be just like him. And you were nervous for the day he would achieve that if he ever did. Everyone approved of Naki but as you continued to hear about his mentor, his only family, you were tempted to pull away.

"What do you mean you can't make it
(Y/N)? It's date night, you always make sure it's free on your schedule",

"I know, but something came up at work",

"Yeah, that seems to be happening a lot lately",

"I'm sorry, rain check?",

"Yeah, sure".

Eto: Was there anything else they could love about her? She was beautiful -in a strange unique way- and a world-renowned author on top of that. She had a light and airy attitude that infected everyone and intelligence that baffled God. You hung on her arm like she was the last human on earth and loved her as any ghoul would; you even joined Aogiri for her.

She was poisonous but did poison ever taste so sweet? There was nothing that could part you from her and the approval of your family only reassured you that she was the one. If soulmates existed she was yours, without a doubt.

"So what's on the agenda today? Dinner with the in-laws or extra cuddles with a movie",

"What do you prefer Eto?",

"Hmm... definitely the movie".

Tatara: If your family approved of anything, it wasn't the man you brought home after your birthday party. You just got too drunk to keep the secrets and stumbled into the house with him while your parents were having a peaceful evening on the sofa. The sight of the pale stranger was enough to shock them, even more so when their first impression of him wasn't the best. What would you think as a parent as an unknown man carried your unconscious daughter through the door?

They didn't need to ask before they pushed him out the house and you woke up the next morning to screaming and questions. It wasn't that complicated to accept but instead, they made it so and kicked you to the kerb, especially when they found out he was an executive in Aogiri. They knew that only meant trouble and believe it or not, your parents were mostly overtaken by the survival instinct embedded in them since birth. Nobody wanted to be part of that organisation when they'd already made themselves a happy life as humans.

"Is it my fault?",

"What are you talking about Tatara?",

"Is it my fault they abandoned you?",

"... no, it's mine. I should've listened to everyone when they said this would only end in pain".

"Do you regret it?",

"Honestly? Looking back... they're the losers".

Urie: Once he left the house the first thing you mum said was that he wouldn't work out. That in his eyes, she saw greed and selfishness that infected his whole being and poisoned his soul. Toxic waste is what she called the Quinx. But you refused to believe her, you couldn't let that notion plague your mind until you got into the accident. You were on your bike and a drunk driver had swerved on the road and trapped your leg between an iron fence and his car, the crack of your bone was an assault on your eardrums and the whole experience shook your normally positive mentality.

You remember calling, leaving probably fifty messages before you gave up. The worse came to it when you left the last voicemail and your brain couldn't help but try to create excuses for his not being there. The first was he was dead but you couldn't imagine that happening to Urie so you asked yourself if he was kept back to do a report or Investigator Sasaki had kept him late and he'd switched off his phone. But in the end, you came to accept that he just never answered. When you saw he'd read most of them as soon as you looked back at your messages your heart broke. You should've listened to your mum.

"(Y/N). What happened? I've been calling you",

"I know",

"Then why haven't you answered?",

"Just think of it as karma. And please delete my number when you have the time, you're too annoying to give the time of day".

Shirazu: He always brought a smile to your face and that was enough for them. To see you bubble with excitement and relief every time he came back was what made them accept him (even if he did look like a delinquent). That's why when he met them, dressed like he was going for a work interview, they giggled with you and brought him into the house with a hug and cup of coffee. He was one of a kind and they realised that way before you ever began talking about the investigator. The skip you had in your step from day to day said more than words ever could. Of course, they both warned you to remain on guard, especially because of his job but you always trusted he would come back. That's all you needed, for everyone to trust you were stronger than you looked and despite everything, you had hope for a brighter future.

"You do know the suit is a bit much?",

"But Sassan said it was perfect for the occasion",

"I'm sure he did. But next time, keep to what you normally wear, it suits you",

"Aye aye captain!".

Arima: Was there anything to be disappointed by? He was charismatic, responsible and stable in all manners of life; what else could your parents possibly want for you? With that bundle, they even gained a protective son-in-law who worked as a special investigator in the CCG. He was the ultimate dream come true and that's all you wanted for yourself- a dream.

It was so easy how you two fit together, your hands interlocking like they were meant to be, carved of the same stone, of smooth, strong marble. There was nothing more than him being everything you wished for. Until his hair began to turn white and vision got worse and even if he never admitted it, you knew he was growing weaker.

"Are you sure there's nothing I can do?",

"Don't worry (Y/N). I'm used to the pain",

"But that's the problem... you shouldn't be".
