"Hey Amanda, Valerie here", just hearing her voice made me realise what she wanted me to do.
"I was wondering if... uhm", she began.
"Again?", I asked rolling my eyes, because I actually had better plans today.
"Would you mind?, you know I work for a friend in the nearby restaurant as a temporary help, she got ill... and...".
I exhaled deeply, I actually couldn't say no 'cause she still needs the money and her siblings are little angels.
"Fine", I said, cutting her off.
I basically heard her smiling through the phone as she thanked me at least ten times in a row.
In The Evening
I noticed her stomping coming towards the door right as I knocked it.
"Thank you so much, again", she smiled at me pulling me inside.
"I owe you something Amanda".
"No you don't", I told her, stepping in the living room where Laia and Lucia were playing a puzzle on the floor.
"Hello aunty", they both said in union smiling cheekily at me. I love it that they call me autny - it makes me so happy to hear.
"Hey you two", I greeted them.
"I think I'll be finished at 11", Valerie said grabbing her purse and jacket.
I wondered if it was nessecary to glam oneself up that much. It more looks like she is going to a date in my opinion.
"Take care of yourself", I yelled after her as she closed the door.
I prepared a small meal for them two and waited until they were finished with toothbrushing and showering.
It wasn't much of a discussion for them to finally go to bed.
I let myself fall on the couch, watching a little TV before Valerie is coming home.
It was already 11 in the evening as I looked at the clock.
Seems like there's more work than expected.
But since like I have nothing to do anymore on this evening it's fine to wait a little longer, even though I would like to snuggle up into my own bed instead of her couch, but I don't want her to rush, it's bad enough that she must help out on saturday night.
The key rustling outside made my snooze a quick end.
Sounds like she's coming home.
She carefully closed the door, slipping right out of her shoes.
"Sorry for being that late", she breathed, rubbing her foot.
Her hair was totally tousled, her lipstick not that fresh anymore and smeard on one side.
"Is everything alright?", I slightly worried about her as she looked like this.
"Sure, just a stressful evening", she shrugged her shoulders.
I raised my eyebrows and nodded as responds.
I told her about the evening and made my way home.
Completely lost in thoughts I walked down the streets, strolling along the sidewalk in the shine of the streetlamps.
Even though it's still very warm for the beginning autumn, I mean we already have october and I still don't need any jacket in the middle of the night.
I walked by a large wall where advertising and junk posters hang. I peeked a glimps in the corner of my eye as one poster hit my attention.
Michael Jackson Live
Playing at Bosten's 75th Theatré
Next week Wednesday to Friday and on October 15th
It stings a little my heart as I read it.
At this time we should have been to our honeymoon somewhere on the beach where the sun never ends to shine.
Wednesday
Driving home from work, I stopped by my asian take away.
It was my time in this month when my hormones driving me crazy and I'm craving the taste of sweets or specific food - and today was sushi right on the top three of my list.
It was one of these days when I eagerly hoped to see Michael coming out of his office, passing me by or bumping into me by accident, just to have the chance to talk to him.
Talking about what happend half of a year ago, why he did this to me and what it felt like leaving the love of my life at the gates of nowhere but an emotional wreck.
So many sleepless nights followed having a crying breakdown since all this shit happened between us and I just wanted to get five minutes to talk to him. Even though we wouldn't agree in common it would give me peace at last.
But nothing. No glimpse of him except this stupid poster I saw last night. Nothing.
I rumaged in my purse to get my wallet out as I made my way to the maindoor.
"Hello, I'll take the number forteen, number seven with extra dip, number twenty - one and a bunch of them fried spring rolls, please".
I felt horrible to order so much food, but I was in need of something that would distract my mind from all this negativity.
I smiled and took the bag with steaming and good smelling food, walking out of the little shop.
I tossed it on the passenger seat and started the engine.
It felt so good to eat something after a long day, and the half of my order was already in my belly as suddenly the phone rang.
I rolled my eyes and smeard my fingers on the tissue before answering.
"Yes?", I kept it short, smacking the words with still a full mouth.
"Hey Amanda", Valerie was it. Again.
"I'm sorry but I'm very busy tonight", I cut the conversation before she has the slightest space to ask any question about babysitting at all.
"Oh ok", she pouted, and I regret it immediatelly.
But no!, it feels like she is only calling me when it's nessecary to take care of the kids.
Not today, I got my own problems and just wanted to enjoy an evening on my couch with some good food.
I heared her telling the twins that aunty Amanda wouldn't show up tonight and it felt like telling a kid no for some candy that it already opened and started eating.
I breathed out my nose, hitting the receiver. "When do I need to show up?", I asked.
"Wait what?, I thought... I", I cut her off again.
"Just tell me when and I'm here for you".
"Around eight?", she asked and I hung up.
I finished my plate and got dressed.
"Thank you so much", she welcomed me on the stove.
"Just do what you need to do today", I smiled a little at her, stepping in.
The evening went by and it was the time again to bring the kids to bed.
"Goodnight sweeties", I blew some air kisses and closed the door behind me.
"Lucia, do you think Valerie will marry this man?", I heard Laia speak up.
I turned on my heel and pressed my ear against the door.
"I don't know, but maybe she will", Lucia giggled.
"I'm going to be the flower girl for sure".
"No, I will be, Valerie promised me", Laia told her, smacking her fists onto the bed.
"She didn't".
And with this I stepped away from the door, making my way into the living room.
What man were they talking about, Valerie never mentioned one...
