I am ashamed of the color of my skin
Of what it represents and of my people who have sinned.
I long to reach out to those living through this hell
Because I can't relate, it's their stories that I tell.

Of children shot in streets,
Bodies wrapped in sheets.
Of women sobbing in the rain
People facing so much pain.
Stand with them in all the mess
Stand with them—facing arrest
People scream and eyes burn
Oppressors thinking that they'll learn—
Learn to stand down, not rise and fight
They can't put out this shining light—
Shining within each woman and man
Each one doing what then can.
Stand for Justice in our tomorrow
Stand for the end of all this sorrow.
Fight together through every hour
Honoring those who are Resting In Power.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." — Desmond Tutu
