Letters to A. Pearson began as a writing prompt for my eight grade U.S. History class. We were instructed to tell about a battle as if we were writing to our brother on the opposite side. This prompt brought the July 30, 1863 account of Chancellorsville by union soldier Julian Pearson.

A year later I was reviewing my computer files and stumbled upon my letter. I then decided to write a series of letters between the two. I have never enjoyed history, in fact it is my least favorite subject, however, I do enjoy writing. I am starting this project to help my struggles in history. Is way, I will learn about major Civil War battles while primarily focusing on motives, causes and feelings involved.

These letter are between two fictional soldiers: Julian Pearson (Union) and A. Pearson (confederate). The name A. Pearson came from my lack of creative manes at the time, so I decided to write to a person instead. Julian comes from a modification to my own name.

Since I am no history scholar, and even dislike the subject, many facts may be incorrect. If you find any errors please correct me. My goal is to learn history, so corrections will be most helpful.

Currently, the seres starts from the original Chancellorsville letter. Hopefully, I will add letters from earlier in the war, but for now I will continue form that battle. Backstories should be explained in the letters. I hope you enjoy "Letters to A. Pearson".

*note: it took weeks to months to send main during the 1800s. Often letters may overlap, and significant events will occur before the brother receives the other's letter warning him of such*
