Haruka was now a hundred and thousand million percent sure she had truly fucked up.

Not that she was the one at fault or there is something at fault in the first place but...

"HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE FIGHTING SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!" she yelled in shock and probably a mix of anger.

I mean, who wouldn't.

These kids come to this school (who may or may not be forced from their parents) to find good education. Not to be killed in their first day

"This isn't even how an introduction works, Professor! We're going to get killed!"

Professor Egret let out a hearty laugh as he petted the fae ever so calmly.

"I know!" he smiled which made the students more confused. "Now, you're all going in groups of three. When I say your names you come up on this platform and fight."

Most of the students shook their heads in fear and disapprovement.

"Now, our lucky first contendants are..."

~

She was lucky she wasn't called in first. If so she would've just yeeted herself out to the void.

Instead of moping around and drowning in their own anxiety and fear like the other students, she chose to observe the fight instead.

"You seem to be interested." Keiko sighed as she looked over him. "Aren't you nervous?"

"Oh I am." she replied hastily. Keiko let out a little chuckle and looked at the fight before them.

The witch was throwing potions at the cat. Trying her hardest to see if any of them can penetrate the thing.

The demoness was trying her best to shoot one of it's legs with her beams. But to her disappointment, she always fails. She was persistent though!

And lastly, the purrsian was trying it's best to soothe the cat. What's it gonna do to him? Spare him because he was part cat like the creature itself? No. It just toyed around with him as he cried for help.

Professor Egret was definitely not pleased. He expected more from his students. What made them worth it to for them to come to this school anyways when their best performance was this.

"This looks like something out from a circus show!" he screamed internally. "Such disappointments!"

A pained shout came from the purrsian as he was now chewed alive by the cat. His classmates look at him with a face of worry and his group mates tried saving him only to be scratched by the giant claws of the cat.

Egret sighed and snapped making the cat stop and drop the purrsian. As if like a robot.

Oh the duties of an elf. He gradually healed the trio and the three ran back to the rest of the class as fast as they could went the path to the second largest mushroom reappeared.

"It seems like most of you aren't ready to come to this school at all." Egret lectured, clearly irritated. "But that's not gonna stop me from doing this."

Pulling out the tablet from his lab coat, he yelled the following three to come up and face the beast.

"Harithsworld."

"Haruka."

"Hashaflor."

Fuck.

Everything stopped.

HOW THE HELL IS IT MY TURN ALREADY?!

The girl felt the tugging of her sleeves by her blonde friend who was now looking over with probably the saddest look she has ever seen on him.

Hesitating, they slowly climbed up the floating mushrooms that disappeared into the air after the last person had stepped on them.

The look their classmates gave her was pitiful. She might not know them to an extent yet but she felt touched by the way they were looking at her with such worry.

I wonder if that would change once they know about what I am.

"Ah! Harithsworld, Haruka and Hashaflor! I wonder if you three are ready to face Erlenhood." Egret walked up to them with a tablet in one hand and his pipe in the other.

"What kind of name was that?" Harithsworld snapped and gave the professor the look.

He wasn't that much of a sight to see anyways.

"Now now, Magnus Harithsworld. Now's clearly not the time to be picky about names. I will give you 10 minutes to figure out a plan to take Erlenhood out. My expectations have now reduced to none. Just do your best."

The three nodded and fiddled on their own once the professor turned around.

"So, what are you good at?" Magnus sneered at the two. Clearly something igniting in his eyes.

"Uh–"

"Nevermind. I'll go first." he cut in. "Magnus Harithsworld. Part purrsian and fire alchemist. I specialise in manipulating fire."

"Keiko Hashaflor. Wizard. I just casually go with the flow with spells. That sound good?"

Magnus rubbed his temple. Clearly not happy with that.

"How about you then brownie? You look promising."

"Brownie?" Haruka cringed at the nickname.

"I, don't know what I am?"

A moment of silence passed by. It wasn't comfortable at all. Keiko and Haruka only looked at the once mad Magnus who was now suddenly silent.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY YOU DON'T KNOW?!" he lashed out.

"I just don't know! I'm sorry! I've been tested by the authorities but all they is that I'm an unknown case and they don't know!" she covered her face and fell to her knees.

If the cat eats people, then she would happily just offer herself to it and never to appear in this world again.

"God.." Magnus was angry. As if he wasn't before, but now he's totally mad. "How did you even get here if you're basically just nothing?"

Being a good friend, Keiko jumped in and defended his friend at her weakest.

"Shut up! Just because she doesn't know who she is doesn't mean she is nothing! Eat shit cat boy!"

The hybrid's eye twitched in anger.

"And who do you think you are?! Her boyfriend?! Way to go then gay boy. As if I didn't see you flirting with that shit necromancer earlier!"

"Excuse me?! Who do you call boyfriend?! For your information I am her best friend and she is taken!"

The blonde couldn't keep his hands to himself anymore and laid a sweet punch on the other boy's face.

Both boys went on for a couple of minutes. Haruka didn't like this one bit.

"STOP!" she commanded making the two stop mid fighting. "We are supposed to be teaming up and fighting whatever that thing is! Not against each other!"

Keiko understood and redrawed his fist. Magnus however remained his strong facade.

"Yeah. And you can't even do anything about it. How are you even able to help us out?"

"I can physically fight too you know." she followed.

She needed to. If she couldn't rely on magic to defend herself, she had to rely on her self.

Everyday after her home school lessons, she would go sparring with some hired professionals by Mrs. Azren and sometimes play fights with Shin and Keiko as well.

Like a flick of a switch, Magnus's personality changed and he began planning on a strategy with a rather persistent smile on his face.

"Let's do it then!" he yells.

"This guy is a total nutcase." both childhood friends thought.

~

The plan was simple. Keiko would throw potions on the cat to distract it from Haruka coming below. With her punches, Haruka should be able to wear out the cat by hitting it's legs, even if it's just a little. Keiko would then put his wand onto use and force the cat from attacking her down below with it's claws. Magnus would add more damage by throwing in fire to the cat. It should fall down after sometime.

Not the best plan, probably but it was the best they could come up in within the last three minutes of their free time.

Plan in set and with hesitating and persistent hearts, the three charged on to the now fully rejuvenated cat who was eyefullly viewing it's next snacks.

Just as planned, Keiko in his broom flew up to the top and threw his potions in stock at the giant furry.

Distracted, this gave Haruka the opportunity to run on over to the cat. Avoiding it's huge legs from crushing her as it takes affect on whatever potions Keiko was throwing on her.

On the background, Magnus was anxiously waiting for when she would finally start hitting the cat.

Behind its right front leg stood Haruka who was now kicking and hitting the cat as hard as she can. She doubted that this barely even made any damage to it but she sure hoped that it was enough.

Giving one last kick, she mustered up all her strength and gave it one mighty last kick before running over to the other leg just as planned.

But things started to go terribly wrong.

The giant cat toppled over and fell to it's back. Haruka only stood there confused as she was about to get crushed by the giant weight of the fae.

"Haru!!!" Keiko flew under as fast as he can grabbing the brunette by her waist. Flying her out right before her body gets used as a small useless pillow cushion to the cat.

Both stayed in the air riding the broom with wide eyes and gaping mouths. Same goes for Magnus. Same goes for the rest of the class.

Haruka looked over to the giant cat on the ground confused. "Did I do that??"

The cat got up as soon as it can and approached the duo on the broom. Startling both as it went on closer to the brunette's face.

"Uhm... Hey?" she waved anxiously at the giant creature that she just toppled over mere seconds ago.

It's irises staring right back at her and it's nose sniffling her as if she were some kind of food.

Sweat was dropping from her face.

The cat graciously went back to it's master who was watching the match with an interested look in his face.

"Ah. So this is what they have meant that she was a special snowflake." he puffed out the smoke from his pipe. "Such a pain."

Meanwhile, Haruka was just processing everything that had just happened in the span of the last 10 minutes.

"WHAAAATTTTT?????!!!!!"

================================

Hehe double update because I was really excited and I had an idea on what to do this time so better just write it all down instead of waiting for the next week and forgetting about it.
