hansoo was nervous, he's never been this nervous in his 16 years of existence.
"hey little bug, you're gonna be late." yeosang pokes his head inside his room as he got ready for school
"papa, i'm literally taller than you." hansoo says with a smile as he runs his fingers through his dark hair, fluffing it up even more
"by 2 centimeters," yeosang points out, holding up 2 fingers to remind him before his eyes fell upon a bouquet of paper roses hansoo had made
"oh, is that for byulyi?" he asks and hansoo nods his head, he could've easily gotten a floral bouquet but he didn't like the way that they don't last long, so he made it with some construction paper and he even stuck in some lollipops, sour gummy worms, and cookies and cream chocolate
"it's pretty bubs, she'll love it." his father says before telling him one more time to hurry up because he's going to be late.
it had been far long overdue but hansoo knows upon himself that he's liked byulyi for so long, even though they've grown up to be friends, hansoo wants more but he was far too scared of his san hyung to pursue her during the years prior, he was more scared of her uncle rather than her own parents.
hansoo knows her like the back of his hand, he knows all of her likes and dislikes, what her dreams are, he'd do everything for her, be there for her.
she would always tease him that, much like his dad, he's the campus prince, due to his good looks and kind-hearted nature, with all the girls and boys leaving gifts and letters for him in his locker, even teasing him that he should try being an idol but he always declined as he wanted to be like his appa, working behind the camera was his passion.
he carefully picks up the bouquet that was on his bed as well as his backpack before turning to face the mirror again
"you can do it hannie, today is the day, okay?" he psyches himself up before running downstairs, almost bumping into his appa as his legs felt jittery
"careful hannie, what's gotten you all worked up?" seonghwa chuckles when he felt that he was shaking
"i'm- confessing today." seonghwa nods, putting an arm over his shoulder as he leads him to their dining area where his papa was eating breakfast as well, even hwan was on one of the seats because yeosang was giving him little pieces of meat
"don't hesitate, wanna know how i confessed to your papa?" the teenager nods as it might help with how he'd approach the situation
"he almost cried, that's it." yeosang jumps in much to hansoo's dismay as he was nervous enough "i did not!" seonghwa defends and yeosang mumbles "whatever floats your boats, honey."
"i could never ever forget that night, you were there but you were asleep on my couch at the studio." hansoo nods as he spoons food into his mouth
"oh, i think that was the first time he declared that he's our baby." yeosang adds which sparks something in hansoo's memory, it was the time that they all got matching how to train your dragon sweaters and he still has it tucked away in his closet
"i have to admit i was afraid because as you know, your papa and i were roommates before we were husbands-" hansoo snaps his fingers, telling his appa to pick up the pace because he might get sidetracked again
"you're such a brat, hannie." seonghwa scolds playfully and hansoo smiles sheepishly "hannie, he was afraid i wouldn't return his feelings and because i am a confident gay, i kissed him first, don't believe a word that he says about him making the first move." yeosang says nonchalantly before smiling at seonghwa innocently
"you're literally no help at all!" hansoo pouts as he finishes his food and drink "it's not our fault we were avoiding it!" seonghwa calls out when hansoo went over to the sink to brush his teeth
"also, have you seen your papa? he's beautiful, he had a lot of people lining up to date him." yeosang finishes his food as well "i heard seungmin hyung's dad once hit on you." hansoo brings up and yeosang shrugs
"yeah, mom's and dad's were ready to risk their marriages for me."
after he was dropped off at his school, hansoo immediately runs into his classroom, he knows byulyi is most likely late but he couldn't risk his other schoolmates seeing him and finding out that he's the one who gave her the roses.
he huffs as he puts the bouquet on her seat before he sits down, just as some of his schoolmates came in with their own gifts, he just waits for the bell to ring, scribbling on his notebook when right in front of him was a pair of hands with a pink box, he looks up and it was one of his classmates that had a crush on him
"hansoo-ah, this is for you and i-i wanted to conf-" hansoo cuts her off with a smile, pushing the gift back to her "jiyeon, that's nice and all b-" he stops when he sees byulyi enter the room, her long, blonde hair getting blown away from her face due to the fan
"ah, jiyeon-ah, giving it a try again?" she says playfully as she passes by hansoo "he's not really interested in getting a girlfriend anytime soon, right hansoo-ah?" she ruffles his hair before passing by them
"oh!" hansoo assumed that she must have seen the bouquet already "hannie, you're always early, who left this here?" she brings it to her best friend, twirling it around and that's when jiyeon backed away from them, feeling left out as hansoo turns his attention to byulyi
"i don't know, didn't see anyone really." hansoo willed himself to not stutter as it could be a tell-tale sign that he's lying
"they even know my favorite candy." she smiles before picking out the gummy worms and opening it
"want some hannie?" he declines just as their teacher comes in "byul, wanna have lunch at the rooftop later?" she scoffs before winking "you already know the answer hansoo!"

as promised, hansoo was already up at the roof, he was twirling the locket he had hanging on his neck as he practiced how he would bring it up to her
"hey sweet cheeks, why do you keep pacing?" byulyi's voice caused him to jump on his spot, clutching his chest as he got surprised, she was still carrying the bouquet and she looked extremely fluffy in the oversized lavender hoodie he had gave her for christmas
she sits down on the blanket that hansoo had already put down to protect themselves from the dirt and they open their lunch boxes
"so, i passed by your locker and holy shit it was covered by letters and some gifts were left on the ground, hansoo groans, he was gonna have a hard time bringing all those home since he might have to take the bus
"why do you never accept their confessions by the way?" she asks, taking some of hansoo's food while hansoo does the same with hers "and don't give me the bullshit excuse of saying you're focused on your studies," she warns, scrunching her nose like a bunny
"what if i told you i've always had my eyes set on someone?" he starts, feeling his heart skip a beat, this was it, he doesn't want to hold back anymore, they are of age and he needs to face his fears and by fears, he means his san hyung
"name 5 girls you've ever grown close to." byulyi challenges, closing her lunch box and taking a sip of her strawberry milk and hansoo was at a lost for words as he swallows the last remnants of his food as he bravely spoke
"byulyi, what if i told you it was you?" he says in a confident tone, patting himself on the back as he didn't stutter, she just smiles widely at him before scooting closer and wiping a grain of rice that was stuck on the corner of his lips
"and what if i told you that i knew all along?" she puts their lunch boxes aside so she can be next to him
"i don't know if i'd believe you." hansoo chuckles nervously and he furrows his brows in confusion when she takes one of the yellow paper roses in hand
"you ain't slick, hannie." she unfolds one of the petals and that's when he sees that on the particular paper, it had his handwriting
"i-" she quickly gives him a kiss on the cheek which causes his ears and cheeks to go red
"hansoo, i've kissed you when we were little and you're blushing because of a cheek kiss?" she still had a smile playing on her lips at the way he was at a lost for words
"fuck it, byulyi, will you be my girlfriend?" she shakes her head as she laughs at his silliness, tangling their fingers together
"of course hansoo, we were destined ever since we were 5." she gives him another kiss on the cheek before she takes out her phone
"i think, it's time to change the photo on our lockets, hm?" the teenage boy nods before she unclasped their hands together and she pokes at her cheek
"give me kissy, please?" she says cutely and hansoo couldn't say no to that, immediately grasping at the chance to kiss her as she got her phone camera ready
"okay, 1, 2," when she sees that hansoo was ready to kiss her cheek, she turns her head at the last minute and captures them kissing on the lips
"byulyi!" hansoo gasps, he resembled a tomato at how red he was
"what?" she says in between laughter "don't act like it was our first kiss hannie." she states before leaning on him
"i know but that was our first kiss as boyfriend and girlfriend." she tilts her head to the side before nodding
"how about we go on a date this weekend?" he offers and of course, she nods
"so, should i just post this photo without context and let the whole park hansoo fanclub burn to the ground?" he helps her stand up while she posted the captionless photo
"sure, how about we add fire to the fuel and just walk the halls holding hands and being cute?" he suggests, holding her hair up for her so it wouldn't get trapped under her backpack
"were we always this chaotic?" she quizzes as they walk back to the door so they can head downstairs.
as planned, they walked down the halls hand in hand, seeing some schoolmates whisper about them and they can already see how their school gossip accounts going crazy with all the updates.
however, hansoo doesn't expect the next thing byulyi does the moment they step inside the classroom
"park hansoo is taken!" he immediately squeals and covers her mouth with his hand "you're so chaotic." he tells her and she fixes herself before giving him another kiss on the cheek, as if staking her claim but hansoo doesn't mind, this is what he's always wanted
"hold on, someone is calling," byulyi takes out her phone to answer it but all she got were pitched screams on the other line
"slow down! what?" she furrows her brows, before her whole demeanor changers and she smiles innocently, handing the phone to hansoo and he felt his heart drop to his ass when he realizes who was at the other line "hansoo-ah, it's your san hyung."
