Rowena Ravenclaw had had strange dreams for years, odd dreams, dreams where she saw shadowy figures and buildings, flashes of colours and feeling. Faces would lurk tantalisingly close, just out of her reach, unfamiliar voices echoing in her head long after she woke up.
But one dream refused to let go. The dream of a castle, a stone building, proud and tall like a giant of the moors. She could even feel the magic contained within, the thrum of power that would reverberate throughout her body.
She drew up the plans one night, driven half mad by the visions, hunched over parchment until her back ached and her eyes stung with exhaustion, until at long last, it was done.
She wrote the castle's name above the diagrams in quick, fierce strokes of her quill, the name that had burned through her mind ever since her first vision:
HOGWARTS.
