It was finally lunch and the gang was having a heated conversation.
" Bro I'm telling you that Patrick is superior," J-hope yelled.
Namjoon rolled his eyes, "Dude SpongeBob lives in a freaking pineapple. Patrick lives under a rock. A rock my guy."
" Bro, Patrick is a man that knows what he's talking about!"
" Oh I'm sorry, if you think asking Squidward if mayonnaise is an instrument is a man knows what he's talking about, you're standards are quite low."
" Bro you wanna know who's the OG character, freaking Sandy cheeks," Jin timed in.
"But come on guys, Patrick is the meme Lord like come on Patrick is the Meme God," J-hope added.
" Why am I friends with these idiots," Yoongi facepalmed.
" Yo Tae, you've been really quiet all day, are you ok," Jimin asked.
The truth is Tae was not ok. He was worried that his best friend will find out that the reason he's not on the team is his brother.
Speaking of his brother, he saw him with his friends at the cafeteria.
He saw the boy were he assumed that he's the leader of the group, tell them to go outside. They did and Tae was getting even more suspicious.
" Don't tell me you're going big brother mode on me," Jungkook whispered in Taehyung's ear.
" Shut it."
"What," Jimin asked when he saw Jungkook pointing and laughing at Taehyung's angry face.
" Nothing um, I'm gonna go to the restroom," Tae excused himself.
" That was weird," Jimin said.
" Yea, what's weird when Namjoon over here goes for a stupid overly happy sponge," J-hope huffed.
" You must be talking about yourself," Yoongi added.
" Shut up."
Taehyung followed the troublesome five, they were going to the locker room. He made sure they didn't see him. He hid behind the lockers and overheard their conversation.
" Yo Yeonjun, where were you last night? We were waiting for you at the gas station," Mingi huffed in the smoke.
" Yea, we were going to smoke and rob the gas station," San lit his cigarette.
" I-I uh couldn't make it."
" We know that. We have been waiting for 10 minutes," Yeosang sassed.
" Impatient I see," Taehyung mumbled.
" Don't tell me you were actually practicing for that stupid basketball stuff," Wooyoung groaned.
Yeonjun pouted," I-It's not stupid."
" Sure it is, you just get sweaty and you throw a stupid ball in a little hoop," Yeosang snapped as he smoked his cigarette.
" Here have a cigarette," Mingi passed it to Yeonjun.
That's when Taehyung lost it.
" Yeonjun!"
Yeonjun jumped to that familiar voice, it was scarier than any teacher.
It was Taehyung. And boy he was mad.
" What are you doing here," Taehyung snapped.
" None of your business," Mingi answered.
Taehyung took a deep breath and calmly said, "Yeonjun, can I speak to you?"
Yeonjun was terrified.
" U-Uh-"
" Why should he," San asked.
" It's very important."
Yeonjun gulped," U-uh I'll handle it you guys."
" Outta boy Yeonjun, kick his ass. Tell us how it goes. Boys let's bounce," Mingi ordered.
" Meet us at the hangout," San told him.
" Don't be late," Wooyoung growled.
Yeonjun gulped and Mingi looked at Taehyung up and down. Taehyung rolled his eyes, he purposely bumped into Taehyung's shoulder on his way out. With the other four following, leaving the two siblings alone.
Yeonjun looked on the floor to avoid his brother's gaze.
" What the hell?!"
" Tae-"
" You're fucking smoking?!"
" N-no Tae-"
" Unbelievable!"
" Tae-"
" Smoking isn't allowed on the team!"
" I didn't-"
" If the coach finds out, your ass is grass!"
Yeonjun fell silent, he couldn't get a single word out.
Tae sighed," Wait till mom finds out."
That's when his heart sank.
Yeonjun looked at him with his eyes widen," W-what?"
" Oh, you didn't know? My mom absolutely hates people that smoke. When she finds out that you were smoking, she'll probably take you back to the adoption center."
That last sentence made Yeonjun cracked.
He hated the adoption center.
He loved Mrs. Kim, he didn't want to go back.
So he did what any normal kid would do.
He started crying.
Taehyung was about to leave until he heard sniffles. He turned around seeing Yeonjun basically crying his eyes out.
" Oh fuck."
He rushes to Yeonjun, who was bawling his eyes out at this point.
" I'm sorry, I won't tell coach!"
That made him cry even harder.
" Shit!"
Taehyung didn't know what to do.
" Oh man. Oh man. oh man. oh man."
He kept crying and Taehyung didn't know what to do.
" Shush, it's ok I'm sorry. I- I won't tell mom."
" I-I-I di-didn't d-do it," Yeonjun cried.
" Huh?"
Yeonjun ran to Taehyung and hugged him. He kept mumbling, " I didn't do it!" and " Please don't take me back!"
Taehyung felt bad, like really bad. He knew he messed up, and he knows that his mom is going to kill him. He made his new little brother cry.
Fuck.
He hugged him back and rubbed his back in circles.
" Hey, I'm sorry. You didn't smoke."
Yeonjun slowly let go of Taehyung and looked at him with his tear-stained face and puffy eyes.
" R-really?"
" Look Yeonjun, I'm sorry to assume and said horrible things. I'm not going to tell mom. Ok?"
Yeonjun sighed and sat down at the bench. Taehyung sighed and he sat down next to him.
It was an awkward silence, well it wasn't completely silent with Yeonjun's sniffles until Taehyung started to speak up.
" Why do you hang out with them?"
Yeonjun looked up at him and sighed.
" I-I don't know."
" Like, they literally called basketball stupid even though you play it. Some friends."
" They weren't that bad before."
" Really?"
Yeonjun nodded his head, " Yea, they p-protected me in elementary school. They were sorta nice... but ever since we got to middle school they changed."
Taehyung was silent and let the younger boy continue speaking.
" They got meaner as they got older. I don't know why but they did. I try to not be like them but they basically said I owe them for protecting me," Yeonjun let out a sad laugh.
Taehyung on the real note felt horrible. He was so quick to judge this kid. It wasn't his fault, it was his so-called friends.
" He...how about you don't hang out with them anymore."
Yeonjun looked at him with wide eyes, " N-no I can't."
" Why not?"
" They'll bully me," Yeonjun whispered but it was loud enough for Taehyung to hear it.
" No, they won't...... Not when I'm around."
Yeonjun looked at Taehyung with shock. He was honestly surprised.
" Huh?"
" You're my little brother now and I can't have him being bullied," Taehyung gave him his boxy smile.
Yeonjun was feeling two things, happy and confused. He's happy that he finally has an older brother but he was confused about why he changed his mind so suddenly.
So he did something that honestly shocked Taehyung.
He hugged him and thanked him.
" Thank you Tae."
Taehyung felt happy that he made his brother happy. He hugged him back and played with his blue hair.
" Come on, let's go get you washed up and get you something to eat. You're probably hungry," Taehyung got up.
As on cue Yeonjun's stomach growled. They both laughed.
" Ok."
