The forgotten queen

Prologue

It was cold, very cold that night. The mother didn't care though, neither did the child, they seemed not to notice the weather, the child by her mother's side, the mother focusing on one goal, getting the child to safety. They ran in the snow not knowing how long they ran, it seemed to run on forever. When they finally reached the frost-bitten door they were both glad. The mother knocked on the door, her child hugging at her legs, she knew she had no time she had to leave soon, the moon was rising already. A woman opened the door, a short stout woman with a caring face, a look of understanding flashed in her face. The mother picked up her child and kissed her on the forehead, as the child started to cry, the woman took off her necklace and placed it in the child's hands, this seemed to amuse the child, the woman said nothing, nodding to the mother, then she was gone running across the white plains in the moonlight leaving the child crying, wailing, not even the necklace in her hands helped as the woman shut the door, leaving her mother out.
