The team began skating, the had been doing sprints for what felt like hours. Lexi was relieved when their coach finally blew the whistle for them to take a break. The small girl basically fell down on the ice sprawling out like a star fish face down. Her boyfriend kneeled beside her laughing softly, she lifted her head and threw her middle finger up "shut up gorgeous" she whined.

Charlie skated over to Bombay to speak to him but the exchange lasted only a few seconds and soon the team was up doing more sprints. All of a sudden the whistle blew and Bombays voice barked out "Alexis, get over here now". The girl jumped at the sound of her name and began skating over. The rest of the team looked at each other in confusion.

"Now I don't know what's gotten into you but this pathetic crap you do has got to stop, I heard you literally speaking to a picture before the game, and before you say you were just talking to your dead friend I really don't care, you're weird, I don't want a weird person on my team so cut it out before I have to bench you. You've had two years to mourn get over it" the man spat out, the rest of the team looked on in shock but the girl just nodded not making eye contact.

The coach not liking the response got up closer in her face "I don't know who the hell was out there on the ice today but whoever it was was the biggest disappointment ive ever seen in my life, you're pathetic" he yelled at her.

The girl felt tears prick her eyes but she tried to blink them back, she wasn't going to cry, at least not infront of him.

"Hey!" she heard a voice yell "You have absolutely no right to talk to her like that" her boyfriend stated angrily as he skated towards the pair.

The girl just raised her hand to stop the boy "Its okay gorgeous" she muttered before turning her attention to Bombay. "You're right, I am a disappointment, but don't you worry im used to it. But for the first time in my life I know im not the biggest dissapointment in the room, because that's you Bombay, these people work their butts of for you and you treat them like trash, I usually keep silent but no more. Youre a bully, thats what you are, a big fricken high school bully who the second things don't go his way always looks for someone else to blame. I may have to respect you as a coach but I certainly do not respect you as a person." The girl spat out.

The whole team were standing there jaws dropped as they listened to the small girl "and you know what, I have a right to mourn my lost friend, I have a hole in my heart where she used to fit and everyday that hole might get smaller but it will never close, I will always miss her. So if you have a problem with that, i'll go. Because id rather be able to be myself and go home then play for someone who expects me to be a certain image. My whole life I've had the problem of feeling like im not good enough, that Im not worth anything, ive finally started to accept that I am and im certainly not going to let you ruin that for me" she ended, she looked at her coach who stared in shock.

She turned to her team "sorry guys" she said softly before skating off.

It took Adam Banks .2 of a second to begin to follow his girlfriend out the door.

"Adam Banks you stay right there son" Bombay warned.

The boy turned to him with a deadly look "fuck off Bombay". he stated simply before skating off.

Charlie didn't take long before he followed, creating a ripple amongst the team and leaving only Gordon standing there.

The team loaded onto the bus and waited as Adam went after his girlfriend.

Adam chased after the girl who had threw her skates off and was walking barefoot down the street. "Lexi, Hey Lexi!" the boy yelled as he finally caught up to her, he grabbed her arm quickly turning her to face him.

The girl looked up at him, face void of any emotion. But when the boy looked into her eyes he saw the sadness she held. "I'm going home" she stated.

The boy nodded "okay well lets get on the team bus and go back and sleep" he stated beginning to pull her.

The girl shoved his arm off "No Banks. I said im going home" she said angrily.

Realisation hit the boy "you mean Edina" he said softly.

She nodded "I'm done here" she stated "I refuse to play for some bully, so im going to go back to the dorms, pack my bag and im going home".

The boy could tell she was acting  tough but he knew she just wanted to crumble. "Lexi thats not what you really want, you're acting too quickly". He said reaching for her hand.

"Don't touch me" she snapped as the boy pulled his hand away.

The girl laughed but there was no humour behind it "of course I don't know what I want, you heard coach" The boy could see the girl had just about reached her breaking point as she continued speaking  "I'm a weirdo, I'm a disappointment, I'm pathetic aren't I Adam, you don't really love me, you pity me" the girl said softly as tears brimmed her eyes but she refused to let them fall.

"Im pathetic" she stated again as realisation set in again as she reached out and grasped onto the boy holding onto him like a lifeline as her walls crumbled.

"Am I pathetic, Am I a disappointment ? is that why my dad doesn't visit, because im not worth it?" she whimpered out sounding more broken than Adam had ever heard her sound.

The boy just let her hold onto him as he tightly wrapped his arms around her. "Alexis Summer you do not do that to yourself again. You are an amazing person who people are lucky to have in their lives. You bring joy to people in even the darkest of times and I absolutely love you with all my heart. If your dad cant see how special you are then fuck him because he isn't worth your time" he felt the girl breathe out before pulling away.

She looked up at the boy, still refusing to cry "I'm sorry for being angry at you, I was just sad. I had to take it out on someone and it just happened to be you".

The boy just reached out and brushed a stray piece of hair "Thats okay Cutie, You had to take it out on somebody, im glad you felt safe enough to take it out on me, just know as long as you're my best friend you never have to worry about going through something alone and just a little spoiler, you will never stop being my best friend. You're in too deep" the boy smiled.

The girl smiled sadly as the boy took her hand, pulling her towards the bus "I'm not going home either, I could never leave you" the girl murmured. The boy just laughed softly "I know lex, I know".

The two walked onto the bus and were met with silence as the team stopped and looked at her, she awkwardly cleared her throat "sorry for snapping like that guys, im a bit of a basket case sometimes" the girl muttered as she awkwardly looked down.

Julie smiled, repeating the same line she had said to the girl the first time she said that "its okay, I like basket cases".

The girl snapped her head up and smiled thankfully at the blonde.

The rest of the team just shook their heads saying the girl didn't need to apologise she didn't nothing wrong.

Lexi  continued walking down the aisle and was tugged into a seat by Charlie, Adam stopped and looked at the two, "ill send her up in a second cake eater dont worry "the boy teased as Adam nodded and went to a seat, waiting for his girlfriend.

"You okay Lexi?" He asked the girl softly. "Nah, but I will be" she smiled reassuringly.  The boy just nodded "im here for you, you know that right? I know youve got Adam too now but ill always be here".

The girl turned to her cousin and pulled him into a hug "I know, I love you Char bear" she said using the old nickname once again. The boy grinned "I love you little lexi". He said before pulling away.

Guy stuck his head in between theres, he had been sitting behind Charlie "I love you too lexi" he added sending her a goofy smile "and I think what you did was really brave and im really proud of you for sticking up for yourself" he said softly.

The girl just smiled "Thankyou  and I love you too G".

The girl hopped up giving the two a small smile before walking towards her boyfriend.

He smiled as he saw her approaching, "well hello gorgeous, is this seat taken" she teased pointing to the spot next to him.

The boy rolled his eyes jokingly, grabbing her hand "get your cute little butt in here" he said as he tugged her into the seat.

The girl just laughed as her boyfriend pulled into a bear hug and kissed her head. "Thankyou for loving me" she responded, the boy just grinned "no problem, you make it so easy".
