"Morning baby" I rolled over and looked at Mouse "Morning handsome" I kissed him "What's the time?" "We need to get up so we can take Mya to school" I sighed "I forgot about that" I rolled out of bed "I'll go wake her then get her changed" "I'll make pancakes then" I nodded "Sounds good but none for me" "Apple for you" I nodded and walked to Mya's bedroom.
I sat on the side of the bed and woke her up gently "Morning sleepyhead" "Morning mommy" I kissed her head "Shall we get you ready for school?""YESS" I smiled "Go get your outfit" Mya ran over to the chair and grabbed her long-sleeved black and white stripy top and her dungaree dress. I helped her get changed into it then grabbed her shoes and put them on "Is your bag ready?" She nodded "Daddy helped me back it last night" "Ok grab your bag daddy's making pancakes" "YEYY" I walked out to the kitchen
"I'm going to go get ready" "Ok what are you wearing?" "Something that matches Mya I'll do her hair once I'm done" "Ok" I walked to the bedroom and pulled out my black dungaree dress and black and white stripy top. I got changed then pulled on my black boots and walked to the bathroom. I curled my hair into beach curls then did a natural make up look. I brushed my teeth then walked out to the kitchen
"Incoming" I caught the apple Mouse threw at me "Just as well I can catch" I smirked, "So Mya what do you want doing with your hair?" "Can you braid it?" I nodded "Eat your pancakes and I'll braid it" I braided Mya's hair when my phone buzzed I pulled it out of my bag that I left on the counter last night "Katrina Halstead" "That's one way to greet your best friend" "Lucy how are you?" "I'm good how about you?" "I'm good I'm sorry I haven't phoned you" "It's ok you've been busy" "You could say that" "So I have some holiday time I need to take so I booked a flight to Chicago to come see you" "Are you in Chicago just now?" "No, I'm about to get on the plane to O'hare" "Well I have something I need to do but once I'm done your plane should be in" I caught Mouse looking at me "Stop staring" I smirked "Ok my flight lands in around an hour and 15 minutes" "I'll be at O'hare waiting for you" "You better be" "Ok I have to go but I'll see you soon" "Ok miss you" "Miss you too" I put my phone back in my bag "And that was?" "My best friend from Indianapolis" "She can stay in our spare bedroom" I nodded "I'll see if she has anywhere to go yet" "Ok we better get our little munchkin to school" I smiled and grabbed my bag from the counter then Mya grabbed hers. We walked out to the car and I buckled Mya in then climbed in the front.
"So Lucy?" "Background check?" He nodded "Lucy Chen she is a police officer so her background is good" "Ok I won't check her out" "Ok good" I smiled and kissed his cheek "Mommy will I get to meet your friend?" "Yeah, you will sweetie" I looked at Mouse "We should tell" I nudged my head back a bit "Tonight" "What about Lucy I'm sure you will want to go to Molly's with her" "I'll find a babysitter and we can all go to Molly's" "Who will babysit?" "My little brother then we can tell her tomorrow because I got an email saying the shirt was arriving today"
I hopped out the car and unbuckled Mya. "Shall we go sign this paperwork?" "YEAH," I smiled and kissed her head. I took Mouse's hand as we walked into the school
"Hi there we phoned up a couple of days ago about my daughter starting here" "Oh you must be Mya Halstead I'll go get Mrs Stewart" "Thank you" She got up and walked into a back room before walking out with a young woman around mid 30's "Hi there I'm Elise Stewart and you must be Mya" I smiled and put my hand on her back "You must be Mr and Mrs Halstead" I tried not to laugh "We aren't married I'm Katrina Halstead and this is my boyfriend Greg Gewitz" "Oh I'm so sorry" "It's ok" "I'll get you to fill out this paperwork and leave a list of people who can pick her up if you two can't" I nodded "Thank you" I looked at Mouse "Who should we put?" "Intelligence and a couple from 51 and Will?" I nodded "Yeah sounds good" We filled out the paperwork then turned to Mya "We will see you soon ok?" "Ok mommy" I hugged her then kissed her head "Bye daddy" "Be good munchkin" "Bye Mya" "Bye mommy" I smiled and we walked out to the car
"I need to get to the 21st" "Can I use your car?" "If you must" I smirked "Well mine is still at 51 and I'm not meant to be driving" "Ok but only if you stop for coffee on your way back" "Of course from that coffee shop that knows the 21st orders off by heart" "Yeah that will do" I smirked "Ok but I want a doughnut as well" "I'll stop off for doughnuts for intelligence as well"
"Ok, I'll see you shortly" I kissed Mouse and climbed over to the driver's seat "Sure you will be ok?" "I drive a fire truck for a living why wouldn't I be ok driving a car?" He shook his head "Ok go to work before Voight blames me for making you late" "Ok don't forget my doughnuts" "I won't or your coffee" I started the car and turned the radio on full blast and started singing to every song that came on.
I grabbed my bag and got out of the car and walked into O'hare. I waited for Lucy where the board says her flight was getting off. I soon saw her walking out "Chen" "Halstead" She walked over to me and we hugged "How was your flight?" We started walking to get her suitcases "It was normal" "Well better than boring" "That is true Halstead" I smiled and Lucy grabbed her suitcases "Let me take one" "I saw your hand" "Ok but erm where we are going you might want to take your gun off" "Oh I have my badge that's the only reason I was allowed on the plane I said it was business and not pleasure" I shook my head "Of course you did" I chuckled "Ok where are you staying?" We walked out to the car "Nowhere yet" "We have a spare bedroom and it's yours" "We?" "Yeah, there's a lot you have missed" "I can tell" I helped Lucy put her bags in the back "Car seat?" "That's on the list you have missed" "Ok then" I got into the car and took my phone out my bag and phoned Mouse "Hey you haven't crashed have you?" "Oh haha can you find out who wants coffee and doughnuts" "No need they will all say yes" "What about Jay 'cause he is Jay?" "Get him his normal they are all out just now" "Ok we will be there soon" "Ok I love you" "Love you too" I turned to Lucy who was looking at me weird "List of things?" I nodded and drove to the coffee shop.
I grabbed my bag and put my phone in it "Coming in?" "Why not" I got out the car "What do you want?" "Same as always" I shook my head "What can I get for you today Katrina?" "Can I get intelligence's normal plus Trudy's normal" "Sure anything else?" "Intelligence's box of doughnuts" "Coming up" Jeff handed me the doughnuts "Can you carry the coffees?" "I'll take the coffees this time they will like you better if you take the doughnuts" "Ok then" We walked into the 21st. "Nah I should be good" "Ok" I looked at Lucy who was looking around "Lucy this is Desk Sargent Trudy Platt Trudy this is Officer Lucy Chen from Indianapolis but originally LA" I smiled and walked over to the gate and put my hand on the scanner then put my pin in "Best of the best are up here" I smiled and we walked up to the bullpen.
"I got coffee" I smiled and everyone got up and grabbed their coffees. I sat at my desk "Guys this is my best friend from Indianapolis Officer Lucy Chen Lucy this is Officer Adam Ruzek, Officer Kevin Atwater, Officer Kim Burgess, Officer Vanessa Rojas, Detective Jay Halstead, Detective Hailey Upton, Mouse and that is Sargent Hank Voight" I pointed to them as I said their names "And Lucy brought doughnuts" I looked at Ruzek and Atwater "No hitting on her" I looked at Jay "That goes for you as well" "Good to see you love me" I shook my head "I'm not going to answer that" "Why are you not having a coffee" "What's it to do with you?" I smirked "Ok I'll leave this conversation" I looked at Lucy "Feel free to sit down" I looked at the board "No case?" "No case but where's Mya?" "School erm I should say if anything happens to me or Mouse all of you are on the list to pick Mya up all you need it ID" They all nodded "Ok so how's Jackson and Tim?" "Erm Tim's ok and Jackson I haven't spoken to in a couple of day's we've had opposite shifts" "Well I'm off today and tomorrow then I have shift" "Lieutenant?" "Nope, just a nice firefighter who drives a big red truck to fires" They all looked at me "Yes I was a lieutenant before coming to Chicago and yes I gave up my rank to join 51" They all went back to paperwork "Halsteads you have a visitor" "What one?" "Both I believe his last name is also Halstead" "I'll go get him" "Ok have fun" I smiled "So that's?" "My older brother who is away to get my youngest brother because I forgot I had an appointment with him this morning"
"You are in trouble from your doctor" I sighed "He's my younger brother he can easily be in trouble" I smirked and looked at Will "You are so nice" "I know good to see you too" "Hand?" "What don't we know?" "Nothing you need to know Ruzek" I smirked "Unlike how you keep things from us and get caught by a 6-year-old" Everyone started laughing "Babe" I looked at Mouse "Mya is crying at school for her uncle JJ" I looked at Jay "Have fun man" "What have you been teaching her?" "To ask for her uncle Jay when someone isn't being nice" "So you can show off your gun and badge?" I looked at Jay seriously "No so you don't have to worry about her during a fire or car crash" I looked down "You know where the school is just take ID" "Want me to pick her up it's nearly the end of the day?" I nodded "Yeah why not" I sighed and looked at the picture of me and her on my desk. I felt arms around my neck "Yes?" I looked up and kissed him "How about we go home I don't have paperwork to do and you aren't here enough to do paperwork" "Wait for Jay to come back with Mya then we can go" "Ok but you need to sleep tonight" "I'm always sleeping" I looked at Lucy then back at Mouse "Lucy is gonna stay in our spare bedroom" "Ok that's fine" I nodded then heard small footsteps.
"MOMMY DADDY" I turned around and Mya flew into my arms and buried her head in my neck "What's wrong sweetie" "The girl wasn't being nice" I kissed her head "Don't worry about her" I rocked her "What was she saying munchkin?" "That my mommy and daddy didn't want me" I kissed her head and moved her so she was sitting on my knee "We love you and you know that yeah?" She nodded "And just because your real mommy and daddy weren't able to look after you properly doesn't mean we don't love you" She moved her head onto my chest "How about we go get a Mcdonalds before we go to uncle Will's" "Yeah?" I nodded "Your going to stay with uncle Will for a bit tonight is that ok?" she nodded and I looked at Jay and shook my head "I love you munchkin" "I love you too mommy" I could feel the tears in my eyes I knew kids could be mean but I didn't think they would be that mean. I kissed her head "Mya this is mommy's best friend Lucy" "Hi Lucy" "Lucy this is my daughter Mya" "Hey Mya" I smiled "Ok baby sister I will see you tomorrow and don't forget you have shift the day after tomorrow" "I know when I have shift I just like to forget" I smirked and handed Mya to Mouse. "Ok let's go" I grabbed my bag and we walked down the stairs and out to the car "I'll sit in the back" "Halstead I'm not letting you" "Chen I will carry you to the front wither my baby brother likes it or not" "Fine" I climbed into the back.
"So you're a normal firefighter now?" I nodded "Yeah it feels good not doing paperwork" "Bet it does" "How long you in Chicago for Lucy" "I haven't decided yet" "You box don't you" "Yeah I stopped a little while ago" "I know someone who could help if you decide to stay for a while" "Yeah?" "Yeah so there's a bar a few firefighters own and we don't have Mya tonight" "I know where you are going" "Is that a yes?" "Of course it's a yes" I put my hand on her shoulder.
I grabbed my bag and got out of the car. I unbuckled Mya and she jumped out "Someone is happier" I chuckled then walked into the house "Let's see it" Mouse opened the box and he showed me the t-shirt "Tomorrow?" "Why not" I smiled and kissed him then we sat on the sofa next to Lucy. "Ok, Lucy we will tell you now because I can't drink" "Why?" "I'm pregnant" She jumped up and hugged me "I couldn't say it tonight because the firefighters that own the bar are the firefighters I work with" I looked at Mouse "Why don't we get Molly's tomorrow night then tell everyone then so I don't have to go through that awkward stage with 51 when Lucy is there" "Ok" "I asked Herrmann if we could use it and he said give me a date" "Tell Mya now?" "I'll go get my bags" I shook my head "Can you film it?" "Yeah of course" "MYA" I shouted on her and she came running through and sat on the sofa between Mouse and me.
"Daddy and I have something to tell you" She looked between Mouse and me. "You are going to have a little brother or sister" She moved to my side and hugged me and tight as she could "Are you happy?" She nodded really fast "Ok you can't tell anyone" "Does uncle Will and uncle JJ know?" I nodded "Yeah uncle Will and uncle JJ know" I kissed her head and she hugged Mouse "Ok go get ready for uncle Will" "Ok mommy" I kissed her head and she ran off to her bedroom. "Mouse will get your bags I'll show you the guest room" I got up and walked to the guest room "This is your room the bathroom is the next door" "Thanks for this Katrina" "Don't worry about it" My phone started ringing so I ran and grabbed it not looking at the caller ID

I climbed in and looked at Mouse "What?" I got out the car and hugged Mouse and lay my head on his shoulder "Come on you two I want to find someone" I shook my head "Make sure you tell me that you are leaving and who you are leaving with" "Why?" "We both know what happened last time" "Ok you bring that up on-" "Once more and you will bring up that person" "You know me" I pushed open the door and we walked into Molly's.
We walked over to the bar and sat down. "Halstead what can I get for you?" "I'll have a soda, a beer and" I looked at Lucy "Another beer" I smiled "Herrmann I'll pay at the end of the night" "No problem" I smiled and Herrman handed me a soda. "Halstead" I turned around "Cruz" "Are yo-" "No I'm not training anyone I have something else to focus on at the moment" I turned around "Herrmann can we use Molly's tomorrow night?" "Yeah sure for who?" "51, intelligence and some of med" "Yep no problem" I smiled "Thank you" I looked at Lucy "Come with me Chen" I kissed Mouse "I'm going to intelligence" "I'm going to some of 51" I smiled and grabbed Lucy's hand and dragged her along with me.
I sat next to Matt "Chen sit down" Lucy sat next to Brett. "Matt, Sylvie this is my best friend from Indianapolis Officer Lucy Chen Lucy this is my boss' Captian Matthew Casey and Sylvie Brett" I smiled "Nice to meet you Lucy" "You too Matthew" "Call me Matt" "Nice to meet you" "You too" I smiled "Ok so I'm telling everyone tomorrow night and I need a favour Matt" I turned to look at him leaning up against the table "Oh no" I smirked "Mya started school and a girl started being mean to her and I need to pick her up in truck one day after school" "Ok so next shift" "Thank you" I hugged him "What was this girl saying?" I looked down then turned back around "That her parents didn't want her" I wiped the tears from my eyes "You and Mouse love her and nothing will change that" "I'm going to go party" I shook my head "What are my rules?" "Make sure I tell you that I'm are leaving and who I'm are leaving with" I nodded "Go have fun" I sighed and watched Lucy walk-off "Why so protective she's a police officer" I shook my head "There's more to it than that" We started talking about different things until Lucy walked over "I'm going" "With who?" Antonio walked over behind Lucy "Antonio" I shook my head and felt a smile grow on my face "Antonio keep her safe and bring her to the 21st tomorrow morning" "Maybe" "I want coffee with that" I smirked "Ok you have my number" I nodded "Go have fun you two I'll see you on shift"
I smiled and walked over to intelligence and sat down on Mouse's lap "Where's Lucy?" "Away with Antonio" I smirked, "Ok you ready to go and get our daughter?" I nodded "We better before my brother kills her" I stood up "See you all tomorrow" We walked out to the car and got in.
"So what happened to Lucy?" "She was kidnapped by her date then buried alive by him" Mouse looked at me in shock "When she was in LA something like a year ago" "And Myles?" I shook my head "I don't want to tell that story" "That's ok we all have stories" I nodded and put my head on the window and closed my eyes.
"Hey baby girl" I yawned "Come to bed" I nodded and got out of the car and walked into the house "Why didn't you wake me?" "Because you need to sleep" I got changed into one of Mouse's hoodies then climbed into bed next to Mouse. I lay my head on his chest and he played with my hair and I smiled. "I love you Katrina Halstead" "I love you too Greg Gerwitz" I smiled and kissed him.
