the universe told me
that maybe if i
wrote a poem to you
[a poem that entranced you,
a poem as a spell]
you'd decide that maybe
you loved me,
the way i loved you
[i just hope that
you won't feel too
pressured into loving me,
like you did when
the sky screamed for your
tender care]

in this poem,
i will put my love for you -
i will even put the way
our love felt to me
[so silky and yet rough,
almost like red velvet]

i will write my hopes
and prayers that you'd
one day feel the way
i do:

how everytime i see
your hair, reminiscent of
lilac like skies
[the same ones we saw
on the night the angels cried]
i lose the lillies i kept
stored in my lungs
[the ones that gave me
the will to breath];

how i feel when i
touch your vine like
skin [so prickly and tough,
a force to be reckoned with,
but when treated right
such a beautiful sight]
those same lillies
grow right back;

and especially how
when i listen to your
honey like voice
[reassuring the waves
that one day the skies
would turn from this
lilac like color
to some boring color of grey,
just like how
the angel's relentless screams
will one day cease,
just the same]
the bees buzzing
in my head
keep buzzing on,
flourishing and flying -
feeding the fluttering garden
right in the middle
of my heart.

so i write this
poem to you,
not to guilt you
[and certainly not
to force you into any
unwanted intimacy]
but to show you that
you make me feel like
a botanical delight
[like i'm something worth
admiring and fawning over]
so please just
tell me honestly if you
would take me
- to be -
your lawfully wedded,
forever and always
[and til the end of time]
