The bus was screaming down the dirt road as Helena, (Y/N) and I all listened in to Hunnigan.
"...90% of the population of tall Oaks has been infected with the virus. That rounds out to about 70,000 hostiles. We also recieved word that an organisation called "Neo-Umbrella" claimed responsibility for the attack."
I saw (Y/N) clench their jaw and I gripped the little device in my hand tighter,
"Neo-Umbrella..."
I repeated,
"I know what you're thinking."
Hunnigan sighed,
"Yeah... this is Raccoon City all over again."
(Y/N) said,
"That's all the news I've got."
Hunnigan regretfully said,
"Now it's your turn to help me. I need to know what's in that Cathedral! I've got suits breathing down my neck for nose info."
(Y/N) instinctively looked over at Helena, seeing if she would respond.
"Suits?"
I asked, ignoring the two sharing a look.
"Specifically?...Derek.C.Simmons..."
Hunnigan told us,
"National Security Advisor."
Helena whipped her head around at the mention of Simmons.
"Hang on..."
The bus driver said, as we looked up we saw a zombie in the middle of the road
The bus driver didnt slow down, in fact he sped up as he rammed into the zombie and crushed it under the bus.
But it wasnt all smooth-
The bus jumped and skidded on the wet mud and the zombie under the bus didnt help!
The bus driver tried to regain control but the giant vehicle was already spinning off!
It skidded right off the road,
The back wheels hovering dangerously over a cliff-
But we couldn't get out the front either! A massive wave of zombies came right at us!
"NOOOO- NO NO-"
When I had gotten up off the floor I saw the young girl being dragged out the window by the zombies!
"Shit-"
(Y/N) rolled for their gun,
I looked up seeing the police officer being pulled out the sky light!
"No! Oh God! Please help me!"
When (Y/N) sat up to go help, and I moved for my gun the bus began to roll!
"Son of a- get off me!"
The bus driver was screaming to!
"ARRRGG- Basterds!!!"
I looked over my shoulder to see (Y/N) reaching for their gun as a zombie held their ankles!
More and more zombies poured into the bus!
Two came at Helena and I!
"Ah shit-"
I yelled as I began to shoot at them, Helen did the same.
"We're going over!"
(Y/N) yelled from somewhere infront of us.
Then out of no where- a huge fire truck came screaming at us!
"HOLD ON!"
I yelled,
"LEON-"
I turned just in time to see (Y/N) missing the seat- they clawed at it but they had just missed!
"(Y/N) HANG O-"
The fire truck SLAMMED into us knocking us over and making the windows shatter!
When I came to... Helena and I were laying outside the bus!
I slowly got up, my side hurting.
"(Y/N)?"
I called-
I could see someone crawling out the bus on all fours trying to drag someone with them!
"(Y/N)!?"
The person turned thank god-
"Leon-?"
I was about to rush over-
"Leon no-"
The bus exploded!
"(Y/N)!!"
I ran forward, only to see that their body had been thrown back by the blast, their face scorched and their hands bleeding.
"Oh my god are you ok!?"
I asked, helping them sit up.
"...yeah... yeah I'm just fine."
They looked at the flaming bus.
".. those poor people. They escaped the infection only to die like this..."
They said,
"Theres no time to grieve..."
Helena murmed as (Y/N), with my help, stood up.
"...wow and I thought I was insensitive."
(Y/N) laughed, but it turned into a cough.
"We have to get to the Cathedral."
Helena ignored (Y/N) comment and turned around and began to walk.
We followed her.
Hunningan called to check up on us, she seemed happy we were alive.
And we walked and walked and walked until finally!
We entered the church grounds.
I banged on the dood, then Helena did.
"Hello? I know someones in there! Open up!"
She yelled,
"Are you crazy!? Those things will kill us!"
Someone inside yelled.
They were right... we couldn't get in without a group of infected tailing us.
"Look its just us! Hurry up and let us in!"
I asked,
"Bullshit I will! I can hear em out there!"
The guy from inside yelled again.
"Ok ok, we'll get rid of em first."
(Y/N) said, with a sigh as they rolled their shoulders and took out their gun.
"You sure you're ok?"
I asked, their face was still a little burnt... and they had ash covering the front of their shirt.
"I'm alright. Just try to keep up."
They gave me a grin and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"I remember at one point where you thought you were a dead weight."
I breathed a laugh.
They smiled,
"Yeah well... now who's the dead weight?"
They nudged me as they shot a zombie running at us.
"Hey! Just remember you're talking to a senior, rookie."
"Oh please."
They chuckled.
We took out as many zombies as we could, but the area was getting more and more filled with them.
Inside people were arguing whether they should let us in or not!
Finally the door opened just enough for Helena to squeeze in first then (Y/N) and finally me.
I slammed the door, zombies hands and heads trying to get through!
"A little help!"
I called and (Y/N) rammed their should into the door beside me, we finally managed to get it closed.
The place was full of people!
They came running at us and a man in a suit asked,
"Are you..?"
I assume he meant "here to rescue us?"
"...sorry guys."
(Y/N) said,
"We're no rescue workers..."
Without another word, people began to turn away or sit back down in disappointment.
"Theres a secret door by the alter that leads under ground."
Helena pointed out, litrally.
"...I'm sorry, you know this how exactly?"
(Y/N) asked, their voice laced with irritation.
"We need to find a way to open it."
Helena ignored them.
"You wanna tell us what's down there?"
I asked,
"Its better if I show you."
She gave use each a look...
Then walked off.
(Y/N) raised their shoulders and slapped their hands on their hips.
"Of course it is... urg... honestly. All these people are so secretive."
I looked at them, but their eyes were on the back of Helena's head.
"Just for once can you not attract people who are either really hostile, flirty or have some big dark secret!?"
They asked poking me in the side,
I chuckled and wrapped an arm around them,
"Oh please, you know I only have eyes for you."
They laughed and gave my cheek a tap before kissing it.
"Well lucky me."
They said, wiggling out of my grip.
"...alright. let's got help Helena find this stupid secret passageway opening of whatever..."
They grumbled and started to follow Helena.
I laughed and jogged to catch up with them.
As much as (Y/N) was joking about me attracting strange types of people,
She was right, most of them had some deep dark secret.
And I had a feeling this secret of Helena's was going to be as dark as they come.
