Even if you sweep
All your broken promises
Under your dusty persian rug,
The shards will still be sharp enough
To cut through the sole of your boot-soled feet.
Shredding rubber
to penetrate your skin,
To travel through your veins, to reach
The core of your guilt-ridden heart.
A jagged piece that no tweezer
could pull out without taking
A piece of you with it too.
