I'm in the classroom waiting for the next teacher to arrive.
"Aster! Kayden! " someone shouted out of nowhere. Lumingon ako sa pinanggagalingan ng boses. At nang makita ko siya sumenyas siya na lumapit sa kanya ganoon din ang ginawa niya kay Kayden.
"What is it?" I asked hindi ako sanay na may naghahanap sa akin although this is not the first time. Hindi naman dahil masama akong bata, FYI I' am not...
"Our adviser would like to speak with both of you later at lunch at the faculty." our classmate said.
May nagawa ba kaming mali? As far as I can remember me and Kayden didn't do anything wrong. Wala naman kaming nilalabag na rules sa school.
"Okay, thank you for informing us" si Kayden ang sumagot.
Tumango naman ang kaklase namin at pumunta na sa kaniyang upuan dahil nakita namin na paparating na ang guro ng aming sunod na klase. Ganoon na rin ang ginawa namin ni Kayden.
The class ended and it was time for our lunch. Me and Kayden decided to go to the faculty first before we eat. Habang naglalakad kami hindi ko maiwasang maisip kung bakit kami nais makita ng aming guro.
"Kayden what do you think is the reason why were called?" hindi ko na mapigilan maitanong
"I don't know either, let's just wish it isn't some kind of lecturing." Kayden's also nervous I can sense it.
Nakarating kami sa faculty room bumati muna kami sa ibang mga guro bago dumiretso sa aming gurong tagapagpayo.
"Good noon ma'am" sabay kaming bumati ni Kayden.
"Oh! Aster, Kayden there you are, I called you two here because I wanted to tell you that you two will be joining the Science Fair next week as a pair for the Science Trivia. You will be excused in your classes for the whole week for the start of your review. Don't worry the teachers will give you two special classes to catch up to your missed lessons and also that includes plus points. " our teacher explained
Hindi naman na bago sa amin ni Kayden ito in fact kami lagi ang ipinanglalaban sa mga ganitong paligsahan not to brag but me and Kayden are the top students in our batch. And we excel in every subject.
"Okay ma'am we will do our best to win." sabay ulit naming sabi ni Kayden.
"That's all you may now leave." matapos sabihin iyon ng aming guro sabay kaming yumuko ni Kayden bilang pagrespeto at naglakad na pabalik sa aming silid-aralan.
Just as what our teacher said, the week passed by at lagi kaming excused ni Kayden to review for the upcoming competition.
"We already studied this last time!" I exclaimed when I saw the reviewers.
"Yeah, they're the same every year." Kayden sighed.
We started reading the mountains of papers even though we already knew what it was about.
After almost 5 hours of continous reading I felt tired and got a little mind rest. This is exhausting you'll definitely be so tired after reading those kinds of stuff.
I glanced at Kayden and saw that he was still reading the papers. He's so focused on reading he doesn't even care if I stare at him for hours. It looks like he was in his own world.
He's so handsome.....
Mula sa mga mapupungay niyang mga mata hanggang sa matangos niyang ilong hanggang sa kanyang mga labi...
I wonder what it would feel to kiss him... His lips looks so kissable....
I shrugged on that thought...Gosh I shouldn't be thinking of those things. Bumalik ako sa aking maayos na pagkakaupo at nagsimula nalang ulit magbasa. Pero bago ko pa mabuklat ang pahina nagsalita si Kayden.
"Why were you staring at me?" nagulat ako sa tanong niya at dahan-dahang lumingon sa kaniya. When his eyes met mine I couldn't help but admire his eyes. Pero bago pa ako tuluyang nalunod sa kaniyang mga mata ay umiwas na ako ng tingin.
"Aster... Why were you staring at me?" he asked again at nang makita ko ang kaniyang mukha, he was smirking like he knew about something he shouldn't.
"Why? is it forbidden to stare at people?" I defended
"No, but your stares are different...I feel like there's something behind those stares" he's still smirking
Gosh this is bad...so bad... I might say something that's not supposed to be said..
"You're imagining things there's nothing behind my stares."
"Okay" he gave up but not removing the smirk in his face.
Sinimulan ko na muling magbasa but I was too distracted! My mind was too occupied by what happened earlier! I couldn't understand a word that was written in that piece of paper.
I gave up at sumobsob nalang ako sa lamesa.
Maybe I just need a little nap.... Yeah a nap sounds good...
Sinubukan kong ipikit ang aking mga mata pero hindi rin ako makatulog... Masyado akong maraming iniisip...masyadong magulo.... Hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat kong gawin...
My head is in a mess right now!
I tried thinking of something else but nothing comes out...The scenes from earlier just keeps on replaying inside my head.. If I continue to act like this baka makahalata si Kayden...hindi siya tanga para ipagsawalang bahala ang mga ikinikilos ko... but why would he care anyways?
Duh he's your bestfriend! He knows you too well Aster! Wala kang maililihim sa kaniya ng matagal..balang araw malalaman at malalaman niya ang itinatago mo...
So anong gagawin ko? umamin sa kanya?
There is no way I'll let that happen.... Not ever
Napailing na lamang ako sa mga iniisip ko.. Teka... I should be reviewing and not thinking of these things... Napabalikwas ako nang magsalita si Kayden...
"What do you think you're doing?" nakakunot ang kaniyang noo
"Nothing... I'm memorizing... Right! memorizing.." wala akong naisip na dahilan sa kaniya
"Okay.... You're acting weird..is there something wrong?" nakakunot pa rin ang kaniyang noo..
"No...everything's fine Kayden.... just don't mind me...." sagot ko
"Okay....I'll accept that reason for now... hindi kita pipilitin kung ayaw mong sabihin... but please don't keep all your problems by yourself.. you can always talk to me about them okay." he said while giving his ever assuring smile.
Paano kung ikaw yung problema?? I can't stop thinking about you Kayden...kung pwede ko lamang sabihin sayo ang totoo ay matagal ko ng ginawa.. pero masyadong mahina ang loob ko.. masyadong takot ang puso ko... patawad Kayden... Sorry if I can't tell you these things... Sorry for being weak... Sorry for being a useless friend..
"I know....I can always count on you Kayden..." I smiled at him with assurance..
Bumalik na ulit kami sa pagbabasa... Good thing we had that simple talk kahit papaano ay gumaan ng konti ang loob ko..
The day of the competition arrived.... Me and Kayden are so nervous though we've been in this kind of situation for a lot of times already.. Hindi maiiwasang magkaroon ng kaba sa aming dibdib..
The day passed by at naghihintay na lamang kami sa pagtatanghal ng mga nanalo...
"The winner for the Duo Science Trivia is...... Kayden Martinez and Aster Galvez!!" pakinig naming sinabi ng emcee.
We were shocked at first but then realization hit us both.
"Kayden we won!!" I jumped with joy like at little kid and hugged him..
Kalmado lamang si Kayden habang naglalakad kami tungo sa stage.
"Congratulations" the emcee greeted
We received the award and went in the middle of the stage to get our picture.. I gave my victory smile at the camera then after that we left the stage.
The Awarding Ceremony finished and we headed to the parking lot where our mom's were waiting for us.
I hugged my mom when I saw her and in my peripheral vision I saw Kayden did the same too... Lumapit kami ni mommy kina Kayden..
"We are so proud of you!" my mom exclaimed.
"Yes we are!" Kayden's mom was as enthusiatic as my mother..
And I forgot to tell you that Kayden's mom and my mom became instant besties when they first met. And now hindi mo na sila mapaghihiwalay..they always chat with each other when they had time...which they always have..
"We have to take pictures!" my mom exclaimed
Me and Kayden posed for the camera and after a lot of flashes and smiles our moms were content.
Nauna nang mag paalam si mama sa mama ni Kayden. We were going to have a formal family dinner because my dad had a day-off from work... Which barely happens since he was always needed in his job..
Matapos magpaalam ni mama sa nanay ni Kayden, nagpaalam na din ako sa kanya. Sumakay kami ni mama sa kotse at lumingon ako sa bintana at saka ngunit kay Kayden, I waves goodbye and so did he. Hindi ko inalis ang paningin ko sa kanila hanggang sa hindi ko na makita ang pigura nila.
