Walking through the woods
A ruffle of leaves
A breaking stick
I stare through the trees
To a clearing
A man stands
Bow in one hand
Other hand hovering over his quiver
A slight movement in the trees awakens him
A flitting movement of arrow in quiver and then notched on a string
My eyes slip to his face
Heart beating fast, resentment flooding my system
He releases the arrow
It flies through the air
A howl echoes throughout the woods
One of pain
He shot a wolf
My wolf
I jump out of the bushes
Eyes and heart aflame
I calculate him
His movements
I will end him
And then he smiles
And I fall, disgust coursing through me

This cannot be happening to me
I hate MEN
He speaks, voice rising and falling not unlike the beat of my heart
I turn and run
