It was my first birthday away from home, due to the fact that I was doing this internship at Google.
No one knew, not my team and not my roommate, who was the one and only Stuart Twombly.
They were short of one female and had one too many boys. So Stuart and I were the only boy, girl roommates. But it was fine as it turned out we were on the same team and we actually got along really well.
Stuart acted like a dick towards the other, he tried to act like he didn't care, but when you get to know him, he is the biggest sweetheart ever.
Either way, I knew I didn't want to do anything for my birthday, I never do, I hate my birthday, this was because on my 8th birthday my parents split, on my 9th my grandma died, on my 10th my dad was arrested for drink driving and for abusing his girlfriend, after that I refused to celebrate my birthday, not to mention on my 16th my mum got married to her new boyfriend and then had 2 more kids, forgot I basically existed and then kicked me out for coming home an hour after I was meant to be home. I lived with my grandad until I got my internship, he was the only person who cared about me, therefore I missed him the most.
I was planning on watching Teen Wolf for the day, order an Indian therefore, nothing crazy was going to happen.
I walked back to my flat to start my weekend, Stuart was going out with the rest of the gang, but even though it sounded fun, I would rather be alone for the night.
I unlocked my door and turned on my lights to see Stuart sat there, waiting for me.
"Holy crap, you scared the shit out of me" I smiled
"Welcome home birthday girl" he smirked
"Huh?" I asked
"Well, I was curious to know when your birthday was so I could get you something, but you never mentioned it, so I realised you don't like your birthday, I dint want to ask why so I called your Grandad the other week, as he is the only one you talk about so you cant have a good relationship with anyone else, I found him on Facebook, lovely man." Stuart rambled
I smiled as he went one.
"He told me that it was today, and also he sent you a present which is on the side, he told me everything y/n, and before you get annoyed let me do what I wanna do and then you ca ego bed annoyed" he smiled, not giving em a chance to talk once.
"Thank you Stuart" I smiled, I waled over and gave him a hug, he hugged me back
"Okay, so first up, presents" he grabbed my hand and sat me down on the sofa, he walked into his room, before grabbing the present from my grandad off the side, back to me.
"No one else knows it is your birthday, but I tricked the guys thinking I needed some emergency money so I bought you more than one thing, but technically its from the others, without them knowing" he smiled
I laughed before talking the first gift he gave me
"This one is from Billy" Stuart said
I opened the neatly wrapped paper to reveal a small necklace with the initial E
"Pretty" I smiled
"This one is from Nick" he smiled
He was so proud which caused me to laugh
I opened it to see a bottle opener that attached to my keys, the words, 'not to smart for a beer' was written on it
"I know how much you love a beer, even though you are 18" he laughed
"Perfect" I laughed
"This is from Neha"
Inside was a dress, black and tight fitted, gorgeous actually
"I love it, Stuart, you have good taste" I smirked
"Well, I know that you look good in anything, so even if it was ugly, you would pull it off" he smiled
I smiled at him, sweet when he wants to be.
"This is from Lyle"
Inside was a voucher for Starbucks
"Brilliant" I smiled, happy I could get some free coffee
"This is from Yo-Yo"
It was a small box, inside was a pair of earrings, pretty sure they were Rubies.
"Wow, how much money did Yo-Yo give you?" I asked
"A lot more than I thought he would have" Stuart laughed "Okay this one if from me"
"I opened it to see a pair of tickets to Y/F/B (Your favourite band/singer)
"Oh my god, I've waited years to see them!" I smiled
"You can bring whoever you want" he smiled
I gave him a hug
"Thank you" I whispered
"No worries Y/N" he whispered back
I pulled out of the hug
"Finally, this is from your Grandad" he said giving me a small box
"I opened it to see a pair of keys." I looked at it confused before I realised, these were house keys
"Oh my god, is there a note or something?" I asked
"Oh, shit yeah" he said walking back to the side. he grabbed a envelope and handed it to me
I opened it quickly
"What does it say?" Stuart asked me
"Your grandma and I knew how much you were going to need us from the day you were born, however when she died, her final wish to me was that I looked after you no matter what. You were too young to recieve the money she left you in her will, so I took the money and opened up an account for you, ive been matching that money every year for the last 10 years, it had enough to buy you wonders, I decided that after you went to California that you were going to get that internship, because you are the smartest person I have every met, it seemed only right that when you were working there you would need a home, so I used some of the money to buy you a house, that way you could make it there. I spoke to the lovely boy on the phone the other day, he seemed wonderful darling and I hope you and him have a happy story like your grandmother and I. We met in college, as friends I asked her to move in with me, a year later I asked her out and was with her forever after that, we fell hard in love. Take care my dearest grandchild, I love you and I will visit soon. Lots of hugs and kisses, grandad x" I read
"He bought you a house" Stuart asked amazed
"Oh my, yeah" I smiled
"We can go and see it tomorrow if you like" he smiled back
"Yeah, sounds great"
"Okay, next up, food, I ordered us Indian and it should be here soon, however for the time being, Teen Wolf" he smiled
"We don't have to" I said
"Nope, I know you love it and your grandad mentioned you always watch it on your birthday so, Teen Wolf it is" he stopped me
We sat on the sofa as Teen Wolf started, starting from season 1
"I don't get what you see in that Stiles guy" Stuart told m e
"What do you mean? He is cute" I laughed
"If you think so, I don't think he is" Stuart looked confused'
"You know he kind of looks like you" I told him
"I mean, thank you for thinking I am cute, but I look nothing like that guy" Stuart said
The door bell rang and the food was here.
We continued to eat, watch Teen Wolf and talk
It was the best birthday I had in years.
"Thank you for tonight" I told Stuart
"Anything for you" he smiled
Stuart paused the TV and grabbed his phone.
He began to play one of my favourite songs.
If I die young. But the Glee version, always made it sadder knowing it was for one of my favourite actors, Corey Monteith
He held his hand out for me.
"What are you doing?" I asked
"Dancing with you" he smirked
I grabbed his hand and began to dance with Stuart in our front room
"I need to tell you something" he asked
"What's that?" I answered looking up at him
"I really like you Y/N" he told me
"You do?" I asked
"Yes, a lot, and I wanted to do this for you because I wanna be with you and I wanted to impress you" he said shyly
"Stuart, you dont have to try and impress me, I like you too, and I like you the way you are, because I know the real you, and I really appreciate everything you have done for me tonight" I smiled
"You like me back?"
I nodded
"Can I kiss you?" he asked
I smiled before leaning up to meet his lip.
He kissed me back, bringing me closer.
The kiss became more deep and before I knew it I was lying on the sofa with Stuart on top of me.
The make out became heated, but was rudely interrupted by someone knocking on the door.
"Just ignore it" I said out of breath
Stuart listen and ignored it, but another knock was made
Stuart opened the door annoyed to be met with the whole team.
"What?" he asked
"We want our money back" Nick said
"Now?" Stuart asked
"We know you have a problem" Billy said
Stuart was looking confused
"You have a drug problem" Nick finished
"What?" Stuart asked
"Buddy, why are your glasses wonky?" Billy asked
Stuart straightened them up.
"Also" Lyle coughed before pointing at Starts private area"
This caused me to laugh a little catching the attention of everyone at the door.
"Guys, Stuart doesn't have a drug problem" I said standing up and talking next to him
"Why did he want so much money them?" Neha asked
"Because it's my birthday, Stuart found out and knew I didn't want everyone to know so he got the money so he could buy presents for me from you guys" I tried to explain
"So, he stole money" YoYo said
"Kind of" Stuart said
"Guys, it's fine, we will leave you guys to it" Nick said winking at us
"Yeah guys, we will deal with it later" Billy agreed catching on to what they interrupted
"What?!" They all yelled as Billy closed the door
Stuart and I laughed out of some embarrassment
"So..." I began
"Back to the sofa?" Stuart asked
"Back to the sofa" I agreed
Stuart picked my up, wrapping my legs around his waist as he carried me back to the sofa, sending us piling down on the sofa causing me to laugh
Time went on and everything my grandad wished upon us happened.
And just like my grandad said, we fell in love.
