When I woke up the first thing I saw was sadly this ugly long cast on my leg. I can't wait to get this thing off of my leg. It's hideous, it itches and it's very frustrating trying to shower with it.
I got up with struggle but I managed, I went into the bathroom where I used the restroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face when I finished, I went back into the room and got dressed in a white tank top and denim shorts.
Usually Oscar helps me with all of this but I prefer to struggle and do it by myself then having help—and yeah I'm grateful for having him by my side but I— it's really hard to explain.
I went into the kitchen where I refilled Coco's food and water, before making myself some cereal, when I finished my breakfast. I sat down on my couch where I continued doing another crossword puzzle

Three crosswords puzzles in the front door opens and Oscar walks in and closed the door behind him. "Hey" he said as he stood in front of me, "Hi?" I say not looking up from the crosswords puzzle
"You wanna go to the store with me?" He asked, I stopped what I was doing and looked up at him. "Really?" I asked with a small smile
"Yeah" he grinned, I put down the book and pen as I did a little dance making him chuckle, I reached for my shoes, "here let me" he says taking the shoes from me, he gets down on one knee as he puts on my shoes and tie them for me. Before helping me stand up, I look up at him as I held my crutches
He kisses me making me smile. He help to the car, I got in passenger seat. He closed the door as he goes to put my crutches in trunk, I turned my head to see Ruby sitting in the backseat he quickly lowered his eye when I caught his eye
I looked down at his cast on his arm before turning back to look forward, Oscar got in the driver's side and closed the door before he started the engine

When we got to the store, Oscar helped out the car and we enter the store "get what you want but stay close" Oscar says to me, Him and Ruby went in one direction while I went the other way even though I was two aisle away from them I could hear their conversation
"How many times can I say I'm sorry? I know I stepped out of line, but I really don't have time to be your valet" Ruby says
"We need to grab a few nopales" Oscar says
"We need a cart. This is getting heavy" Ruby says, I grabbed some chips and candy from the aisle I'm in, I looked around my surroundings to see two guys staring me while kissy faces towards me, I tried to get closer to Oscar but my snacks fell "crap" I say before trying to bend down to get them
The two guys who was staring at me laughed as I struggled "assholes" I hear as someone grabs my snacks, I look up to see a guy who looks a little older then me, I grab my snacks from his hands "thanks" I smiled and he smiled back "Are you um here by yourself?" He asked as I started to walk back to Oscar, I shook my head towards before going into the next aisle but he followed me
"You coming at me? But I didn't start this one" Oscar says raising his voice catching my attention "you shouldn't stare" the guy spoke up, I look up at him "why not?" I asked, "he's a Santos— and they don't like people staring at them" he whispered

I grabbed a bag of dog treats for coco before moving to the next aisle and he stood followed behind me, I was closer to Oscar and Ruby just an aisle away from them
"It's complicated, The Santos are a family, Families are complicated" Oscar says
"What do you know about family? You threw your brother out" Ruby says
"I said it's complicated! Cuchillos made that call—And no one questions Cuchillos" Oscar says
"Cuchillos can suck a dick!" Ruby raised his voice causing everyone in the to look his way before turning back to their own business, the guy who stay following from aisle to aisle spoke up "you should leave— just in things can messy in here", "I'm perfectly fine—thank you" I walking out the aisle
The man grabs my arm "I'm serious!" He says, "get your hand off of me!" I say causing him to back away, I look up to see Oscar standing in front of me eyeing the guy next to me down, I stay quiet as Oscar spoke up "everything good here?" He asked
"yeah everything fine man" the guy says, "I wasn't talking to you" Oscar says as his and the guy's eye fell on me "yeah I'm fine" I say, "come up here with us" Oscar says, I looked at the guy before walking to where Ruby stood and Oscar followed behind me

Oscar got few more things before he paid for everything. Right now Ruby and I sat in the car while Oscar went back into the store,it was quiet until he cleared his throat before he spoke up "h-hey jo" he says
"Hi" I say
"How's your leg?" He asked
"I hate this cast but it's okay I guess—how's your shoulder?" I asked
"still kinda hurts but it's fine" he says
"Can I ask you a question?" I asked looking back at him, "sure" he says. "Is Cesar okay?" I asked, his face softened when he sees the hurt in mine, "yeah, he's okay" he nods
"Can you tell him that I miss him" I say as my eyes start to water, "yeah I'll tell him" he says, I look up to see Oscar walking back tot he car, I quickly wipe my tears turn back looking forward as Oscar got in the car, he closed his door before starting up his car and driving away

I'm back home and it's been some hours since we got back from the store I've been lounging all day since I got nothing else to do. I already eat my snacks, I stood up and grabbed my crutches as I went into the kitchen for no reason— I hear voices, I looked the kitchen window to see Euby and Oscar as they cooked on the grill
"Damn. Get off me already. It's my mom. She was on me about going to church, on me about hanging out with my friends. Now she's blowing me up wondering where I am.
Now can I just be left alone already?" Ruby says
"Pressures of the privileged" Oscar says
"Privileged? I live in a house with bars on the window" Ruby says
"With two parents inside and a college future waiting outside. Don't whine to me about your mom. No one took care of me and Cesar when my mom was out there" Oscar says
"I didn't mean to..." Ruby trailed
"Be ungrateful? I get that you got shot. But why do you think no one came to finish the job? Because of me! And think about how fast that truce happened. Me! again!" Oscar says
"I'm sorry, I didn't know" Ruby says
"There's a lot of things you don't know. Like what it's like to walk into a job interview with a record. You think Walmart's gonna hire someone with two strikes?" Oscar says
"See, I wouldn't work there, They have poor employee satisfaction" Ruby says
"Are you joking? This shit's real!That's the kind of stuff,that makes a man snap! But being mad at the,world won't help you It'll only hurt you" Oscar says
I grabbed my crutches as I stood up straight before going into room, I sat down my crutches as sat down on the bed and continued doing a another page of crossword puzzles

I'm still doing the crossword puzzles as Oscar walked into room, I didn't say anything nor did I look at him "Are you okay? You've been quiet" he says
"I'm not talking to you" I say without looking at him, "Okay—can you tell me what's wrong?" He asked
I threw crossword puzzles book across the bed, before standing back up with my crutches and I faced him "Cesar!" I say
"otra vez esto no" he says before sighing frustratedly, "jo—you wouldn't understand" he says
"No, I understand—you kicked him out—you are his only family and you kicked him out!—Oscar I know what's it like to be homeless, not knowing when my next meal is going to be, nowhere to sleep— I've had shoes and jackets stolen off of me while I slept" I say
"It was out of my control—what Cesar did was dangerous—Jo you got shot! He's friend is dead, all I'm trying to do is protect you and everyone else —imagine if they came and finished the job?" He asked
"Don't give me that bullshit you just told Ruby!, —And me getting shot got nothing with Cesar!" I say,
"What do you mean?" He asked
"I don't talk about this anymore—I'm sleeping on the couch" I say walking passed him into the living room, I sat down on the couch as I let my crutches lean on the arm of the couch
A couple minutes later I'm still laying on the couch ready to go to sleep when felt arms wrap around my waist and arms that picked me up, I looked up to see Oscar carrying me "what are you doing?" I asked
"like I'll let you sleep on the couch" he says
"—but I don't wanna lay in the same bed as you!" I protested as he laid me down on the bed, "that's fine, I'll sleep on the couch" he says as he turns off the lights "goodnight" he says before closing the door behind him
"night" I say
