𝖎 𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖗𝖘𝖑𝖊𝖕𝖙 𝖆𝖓𝖉 when I woke up, I first yelled at Oscar for not waking me up—then apologized for yelling at him, then I asked him to call Candice since she promised to help me get ready. I could tell he didn't want to but he did anyways, What would I do without him?
When she arrived, we got immediately started. She did my makeup and helped me put on my jewelry "woah cool tattoo" she says as she puts on my necklace, "thanks" I say, "is it a knife?" She asked, "no, it's a switchblade" I say
"does it have a meaning?" She asked, "um I had a twin brother and when he passed away, all I had left of him was his switchblade, and I um lost it, so I got the switchblade tattooed on me" I say
"Wow, that's really deep" she says, "yeah" I say turning to look at her, "I'll be in the living room, call if you need him" she says before leaving the room.
I got dressed in my dress and heels, I fixed my dress in a mirror before walking into the living room where Candice was, she smiled at me as she saw me all dressed up.
"Woah", I turn around to see Oscar, "do you like it?" I asked, "um yeah—you look really pretty" he says, I smile "thanks" I say
"I can drive you to the ceremony" Candice offered, "oh! I missed the ceremony so we're going straight to where the party is being held" I say, "alright let's go" she says
I hug Oscar bye before leaving the house with Candice, I gave her the address and she drove to Ruby's house. When she arrived I thank her before getting out the car, I followed Abuelita and some ladies inside the front door
"Oh! Look who decide to show up!" Ruby as I walk into the door and closed it behind me, "I'm sorry, I overslept" I shrugged, he opened his mouth when Abuelita called me
"Mijo, where are we gonna set up the buffet?" Abuelita asked, "On the tables in the back" Ruby says walking to Abuelita, "But they're not there" she says
"What? Well, who moved them?" Ruby says facing us
"A guy told me he needed them" Cesar stood up
"It was the fireworks guy" Monse stood up too
"We're having fireworks?" Olivia stood up
"Thank you—Thank you, everyone, for spoiling the surprise. Yes, fireworks. At 9:30" Ruby says
"Someone get his panties out of a bunch" Abuelita says making us laugh
"Take the food out"
"Hi Cesar—Nice haircut" I say
"Hey— Jo, you look nice and thanks Oscar cut it this morning" he says
"That explains why I overslept" I say before leaving Monse and Cesar to be in their own conversation
"The only upshot is that our D to C numbers are even again" Ruby says
"D to C numbers? Is that dick to coochie..." Monse asked
"Get your head out the gutter! Damas to chambelanes. Now Jasmine's out, you get to dance with me" he says
"My prayers have been answered" Monse says sarcastically
"Everyone, assume your positions" Ruby demands
"Can you give me a sec? I need to fix my dress, Cesar, can you help me?" Olivia says before her and Cesar went into Ruby's room, I'm talking to Monse when Ruby walked up to me "Are you kidding me?!" He asked
"What?" I asked
"Your Dress?!" He says
"What's wrong with it?" I asked
"It's too close to the color that Olivia's dress is!" He says, "How was I suppose know what color her dress was going to be." I asked, "maybe if paid attention to the emails" Ruby started
"I don't have an email—I don't even have a phone!— Ruby stressing way too much, it's not like anyone's gonna notice" I say, "yeah you're right—just don't stand next to her—no, just don't be in anyone's view, Olivia is gonna be center of attention so just stay in the back" he says before walking away

"The party's ruined! It's a total disaster" Ruby says walk into his room, Monse and I followed behind him, "What's going on?" Olivia asked, "There's no horse" Monse says
"Okay" Olivia says,
"Okay? How are you gonna get pulled in your carriage? Wait. Maybe we can get Jasmine to come back. She's crazy strong.We're so jacked! And do you smell that?
Some asshole's getting lit in the middle of all of this" Ruby says leaving the room
"Okay, everyone out here now" Ruby says and we all followed him into the living room "We're 20 minutes and counting from the presentation, and after a little second-hand high, I'm starting to chill. We're gonna do a little improvising. Monse, remember the
walking pas de bourrée we were gonna incorporate into the dance?" He asked
"No" Monse says
"We're gonna do those, so we can give Olivia and Cesar a proper entrance without the carriage" Ruby says, "I'm not dancing with Cesar" Olivia says,
"What? Why?" Ruby asked
"We just broke up" Olivia says
"Are you kidding me? This whole day is falling apart. Cesar, your timing is terrible" Ruby says, "She dumped me" Cesar shrugged.
"We dumped each other" Olivia corrected him
"If you're not gonna dance with Cesar, who are you gonna dance with?" Ruby asked

𝖎'𝖒 𝖔𝖚𝖙𝖘𝖎𝖉𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖇𝖊 𝖉𝖊𝖙𝖆𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖉 in Ruby's backyard I stood with everyone else who watching Ruby and Olivia dance, I sway with a smile as I see Ruby smiling from ear to ear moments later Cesar and Monse joined them.
Once the dance was over, I walked away from the crowd to the buffet table to get a drink when I hear my name being called "Jo?", I turned around to see Mrs. Martinez. I smile before giving her a hug, she pulled away from our hug.
"I've been worried about you, you look beautiful" she says
"Thank you Mrs. Martinez, and I'm fine now—when I left I wasn't into a good place" I say, "I'm just happy that your safe, so where are you staying?" She asked, "I'm living with Cesar, I'm actually dating his brother" I say
Mrs. Martinez facial expression changed but she kept her attitude positive "Jo, you're a young adult and you can definitely take care of yourself—but do you know what type of crowd Cesar's brother is in?" She asked
"Yes, and thank you for your concern but Oscar makes me happy—he wouldn't do anything to hurt" I say, "I'm glad you're happy—but do remember when it's time to let go— let go" she says patting my hands, her husband was calling her and we parted ways
I walk towards the dance floor to watch Cesar and his friends dance, I smile at how happy he looked—at how happy they looked, "Jamal!" they shouted making me laugh even more
I met eyes with Olivia "Jo!, Come Dance with us!" Olivia says, I shook my head until Cesar pulled my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor, I danced in the middle of the two couples.
When I finished dancing I walked off the dance letting the two couples dance by themselves, I realized I never got that drink I wanted, I walked back to the buffet table and grabbed me a cup and as I was pouring myself some fruit punch.
The sound of a gun went off startling me making me drop my cup, which made me go back to that night I lost Johnathan, I dropped my cup spilling the juice on my dress, I turned around to see Ruby and Olivia laying on the dance with blood start to soak their clothes
I looked around to see Latrelle running away "Latrelle?" I say without thinking I chased after him, which lead me to the front of Ruby's house, Latrelle ran straight to a car that was waiting for him "Latrelle!" I screamed as Justin got out the car "What are you doing men? Latrelle asked Justin
"Just get in the car" Justin tells Latrelle, But Latrelle doesn't move as Justin walked towards me, he lifted up his shirt to reveal his gun that was tucked in his pants, Latrelle jumped in front of as he pulled out his gun "what are you doing—just leave her!— come on we gotta go!" Latrelle says
"I said get in the goddamn car!" Justin shouted pushing Latrelle away, "If Jonathan could see you now he would be disappointed" I say as tears ran down my face
"Me? What about you? If Johnathan could see if you now, he would disown you—just like yo' old man did" Justin says holding up his gun towards me
"You know Josephine— or should I call you dagger? that name really does suit you, since your a backstabber and all" he says as we can hear sirens getting closer
"But I'll keep this short—you stabbed me" he says
Another gun noise went off and I screamed as the pain hit me in my left leg, causing it to go completely numb making me fall onto the pavement "I shoot you" Justin says
"Josephine!" Latrelle yelled as started to run towards me but Justin grabbed him and ran back to the car that disappeared as soon they got in it.
I sobbed loudly as my dress soaked up my blood, my vision went as I so red and blue lights flashing in the distance and the last thing, I remember hearing was sirens
