Nevaeh
I was at the gym and I had just finished my workout. It was a two days of the week thing. I was just leaving on my way to go pick up Sarah from her house. Today we were doing girl things getting our nails, feet and, eyebrows done. I bobbed my head to my music as I pulled up to her house. She lived in the hood, the hood that we both grew up in. I hated it here especially for what I was known as.
I got out my car and ignored the stares from the homeless and drug dealers. I then made my way to her doorstep and opened her screen door and knocked. She soon opened the door letting me in.
"Hey girly!" She said as she smiled
I chuckled and hugged her. She welcomed me in and I heard voices.
"Delay's friends are here, they cool though" she said as she looked at me
I looked confused. I walked into the living room and the noise died down as everybody begun to stare at me.
"This my friend Nevaeh. That's Jay, Mickey and, Bari" she said as she pointed
My eyes landed straight on Bari when she said his name. He locked eyes with me and just had a slight smirk.
"Hi" I said as I did a over wave
They all waved except Bari. He just nodded his head at me.
"I'm almost ready" she said as she looked at me
"Okay" I replied as I took a seat
I then went on my phone and it was dead silent.
"Y'all tryna smoke?" Delay asked as he looked at his friends
"Ya, lets go" Jay said as they all stood up
I looked up and Bari was just staring at me.
"Yo, You ain't coming?" Delay asked as he popped his head back inside
"Nah" he replied still staring at me
I just ignored his stare.
"How you been?" He asked as he looked at me after shutting off his phone
"I'm fine, you" I replied as I continued with what I was doing on my phone
"Alright, what brings your boujee ass round here?" He asked as he looked at me
I instantly looked up. "Number one, I'm not Boujee. Number two I'm from here, it's called bossing the fuck up" I said feeling offended
"My bad baby girl, I ain't mean it like that. Just thought a girl like you would stay on yo side. What you mean you from here?" He asked as he looked at me
I just ignored him.
"You scared of conversation?" He asked as he looked at me
"I'm Not scared of nothing" I said as I stared right back at him
"Answer my question then" he replied
"I owe you nothing but to help you mind your business" I said as I glared at him
Third Person
Bari was shocked by her sour attitude. He was not use to females or anybody ever talking to him with such attitude. He was use to giving demands and that is something Nevaeh was not having.
"So you one of them too good ass females? What you all stuck up for, you should really cut that shit. It ain't cute" Bari said as he grew slight anger from the way she spoke to him
Nevaeh stood up and grabbed her purse and phone making her way to the front door.
"Tell Sarah I'm in the car waiting" she spoke before she slammed the door shut
Bari just chuckled and stood up. He watched as Sarah came out dressed and ready.
"Yo" Bari said as he looked at Sarah
"What?" She asked as she stopped
"Why she so bitchy?" Bari asked as he stared at Sarah
Sarah sighed. "She's not, she's had a ruff past. She holds in a lot of anger, she's stubborn and she don't like to associate with men. Especially men like you" she said as she looked at Bari
"Fuck I do to her?" Bari spoke as he had a confused look on his face
"Not you stupid, she's been hurt. It's not my business to talk about but, she's really an amazing person once your cool with her. She has brick walls up and nobody could knock them down. Trust me she's a real good person though. She guided me through life well we were both facing tuff times, here were much worse then mine but yeah" Sarah said as she looked at Bari well she slipped on her shoes
"Okay but, you can give me here number or something? I been tryna holler at her since like a month ago, she ain't letting a nigga in at all" Bari asked as he looked at Sarah
"I'll ask her" she replied
"Nah, just gimme her snap" Bari said as he handed Sarah his phone
She rolled her eyes and scanned Nevaeh code before handing back his phone.
"Respect" he said before he made his way outside
Nevaeh
I watched as Sarah walked outside. I pushed start and waited for her to get in before pulling off.
"I gave Bari your Snapchat, he asked for it" she said as she looked at me
I glared at her. "Why didn't you ask me first?" I said as I rolled my eyes
"Cause he said you would say no. He's not that type of guy though Vae, maybe it's time for you to get a lil dick in your life" she said as she looked at me and winked
Just that word made me feel uncomfortable.
"Not interested" I said as I crossed my arms
She then looked at me. "Girl you can't be single forever" she said well she mugged me
"Well right now, I'm fine" I said as I drove
She just chuckled.
"Who is he anyways?" I asked
"His momma is Miss Jillian. Remember she use to teach Sunday school?" She said as she looked at me
I nodded slowly. "Really, so how come I don't know him?" I asked Confused
"He lived with his daddy when you lived in rose, he was in and out of juvenile detention. His mom couldn't handle him, when you left the hood and got put into the system he moved to rose. But he runs rose, the whole south side actually. People know him as Bari, not the best guy to fuck with" she said as she shrugged
"He's really good peoples though, besides the killing and the rudeness. He helps out the kids in rose, they have it better then we did. He throws the barbecues that you never wanna come to, you should come it's next month. Don't you think he's fine though, you better talk to him. All the junkies want him, especially Diana" she said as she rolled her eyes
I chuckled. Diana was rose thot from when we were young. "She still round, never saw her in forever. He's good looking to me I'm just not ready for that right now, I still have so much stuff I need to accomplish. Distractions aren't what I need. I don't care who wants him and, you know I don't like guys like that" I said as I shrugged
"I love me some good nigga's. I'm sick of Delay he be pissing me off, he one hood nigga I don't like" she said as she rolled her eyes
I just chuckled. We soon pulled up to the nail salon and your girl was happy.

I had posted my finger nails and feet on my snap. I was so happy that I finally got my shits done. I never slack on my nails but I've been so busy and overwhelmed.
I was on my way to Sarah's house about to drop her off. I was no more then two minutes away and I was hella tired. I wash just happy I didn't have to go to work tonight.
"These nigga's still here, I know they do not got these broke bitches on my doorstep" Sarah said as she looked out the window
I chuckled and got out the car with her. She had something to give me and then I was going straight home.
"Yeah umm hello, off my property!" She yelled as she looked the girls up and down
I just smiled. They all took a glance at me I recognized them all.
"Nevaeh?" I heard a voice say in a question manner
I turned around seeing Dian.
"Hey" I said doing a slight wave
"Wow, you look so different" she said as she stared at me
I could feel Bari burning a hole in my face.
"I mean, after all that stuff going on in her house didn't you expect a glow up?" Nya her friend said as she looked at me with a smirk
I never got along with Nya. She always through low blows at me when we were younger. She didn't get to me when we were younger and she definitely wasn't gonna get to me now. I ignored her and made my way inside.
Bari
"You know shorty?" I asked as I looked at Delay
"Who, Nevaeh?" He asked as he looked at me
I nodded. "Who the fuck else?" I said as I glared at him
"Yeah I know shorty, for some years now" he said as he shrugged
"Why everybody talk bout her past?" I asked confused
"Shorty been through it cuz, I ain't even tryna talk her business but she a strong girl" he said as he smoked and stared into the sky
I just stood there think what could she have had going on. I was knocked outta my thoughts by the screen door squeaking indicating somebody opened it and it was Nevaeh walking out.
"Later sis, love you. Text me when your home" Sarah said as she hugged Nevaeh
"Okay, love you to" she replied
She then walked down the steps.
"Later" she said as she waved at me and my nigga's
I walked and made my way over to her car. She was bout to get inside.
"Yo" I said before she opened her car door
She turned around looking at me and rolled her eyes.
I chuckled.
"My bad about what I said earlier, I just ain't use to girls blowing me off and shit" I said as I looked at her
I towered over her. She was a good size with a nice ass body and a pretty face. Last and biggest step was her personality.
"It's fine" she said as she looked at me
"I'm tryna take you out sometime and, before you say no just sleep on it alright. I added you on snap, I forced Sarah to give me your shit. So if you tryna go lemme know, I wanna get to know you. On some friendly shit" I said as I licked my lips
"I'll think about it, later" she said as she opened her car door
"Make sure you add me back alright, ima see your pretty ass around" I said through her window after I closed her car door
She just smiled before pulling off. I knew she was blushing, I got this in the bag. I made my way back over to the guys and Lit my blunt well we listened to our music.
Nevaeh
I was driving home and I decided to stop and get food so that I didn't have to cook. As soon as I pulled up I parked my car and got out locking my car. I then made my way to my condo door and unlocked it with my key.
"Home sweet home!" I yelled as I slammed my door shut and locked it
I then made my way to my room removing my jacket and stripping out of my outside clothes immediately. I changed into some house clothes and tied my hair back before I made my way to my living room. I sat back and put on my show good girls after texting Sarah letting her know I was home.
I was on snap and I noticed the request. I accepted him and before I knew it a message came through. It was a snap back to my story and it read 'I forgot to tell you I like yo nails💯'. I chuckled and simply replied back thank you before shutting off my phone and continuing my show.

I had climbed into bed and laid my head on my pillow. I closed my eyes and thought about what Bari had said. I wanted to go on a date but my past always gets to me when it comes to guys. I don't wanna let another person in just for them to hurt me again. I was so hesitant and I hated it but I can't complain my past made me who I am today.
I soon felt my eyes shut and before I knew it I was sound asleep.
