(Y/N) POV

☆°~♡~☆

Hank drove with Connor in his car as I drove in mine to where Ben was waiting for us.

We parked and got out, running up to Ben.

"We've got officers sweeping the neighbourhood, in case anybody saw anything."

Ben said,

"Okay well let us know if they turn anything up."

Hank said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

It was raining and I covered my eyes to see Ben as he nodded his head towards Connor,

"What are you gonna do with that?"

Connor stood litrally beside Hanks car.

"I've no idea..."

Hank said and I rolled my eyes at the two.

Hank and I walked back over to Connor,

"It took the first bus that came along... and stayed at the end of the line. Its decision wasnt planned, it was driven by fear."

Hank scoffed,

"Androids dont feel fear."

"Deviants do."

Connor corrected him.

I need to read up on deviants but there isnt much on them...

"They get overwhelmed by their emotions and make irrational decisions."

Hank nodded,

"Ah well, that still doesnt tell us where it went."

I thought for a moment,

"It didnt have a plan... and it had nowhere to go. Maybe it didnt go far..."

I said, looking up at the two,

"My thoughts exactly."

Connor said,

"Maybe..."

Hank said, agreeing with us.

We were walking down the street, the three of us with Connor in the middle.

"Hmmm..."

We looked in abandoned buildings and back alleys but so far nothing.

"Anybody home?"

Connor called at a boarded up house,

"You think someone still lives there?"

I asked Hank, he shrugged.

"Theres blue blood on the fence."

Connor examined as I climbed over the fence with him, Hank opted to wait on the other side.

"I know another android was here."

Connor and I walked around the side of the house,

The windows were boarded up so we peered in between them.

I could see someone in there so Connor and I walked to the front door.

Connor opened the door and I followed as we entered the creaking house.

There was an android inside.

The left side of his face was wounded badly and his eye was a funny colour, he had a black cloak on and was shaking a little.

"We're looking for an AX400."

Connor explained,

"Have you seen it?"

I asked,

"Ralph's seen nobody..."

The android aka Ralph said.

Guess he talks in the third person.

Connor took a moment to scan the deviant as I looked around the room we were in,

Apart from everything looking gross and broken, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

"Are there any other androids here?"

Connor asked after he finished his scan,

"Other androids?"

Ralph asked himself, there was a long pause.

"No...Ralph is alone..."

Connors stern gaze seemed to unhinged the android a little and Connor clearly noticed.

"Dont worry, we're not going to hurt you."

He reassured the android,

I nodded,

"Theres blue blood on the fence."

Connor continued,

"We know another android was here..."

"Ralph scratched himself coming through... that's Ralph's blood."

Ralph explained.

"Do you mind if we take a look around?"

I asked, Connor didnt wait for an answer though as he walked to the closest door and pushed it open.

It was a large laundry room I guessed and on the walls written in scribbly handwriting was rA9...

"rA9 again..? Theres clearly a pattern with these deviants."

Connor nodded,

"I agree. But we still dont know who this rA9 is..."

He said as we stepped out of the room,

I headed up the stairs and so did Connor but I saw him stop.

"Is anyone upstairs?"

Connor asked Ralph who responded very quickly,

"No. Nobody."

I didnt fully believe that and started climbing the stairs again when Connor grabbed my hand,

"Everything ok?"

I asked quietly,

He looked up at me,

"He's telling the truth. His stress levels decreased when we came up here."

I glanced at Ralph who didnt seem to notice our little discussion.

"Alright..."

I said to Connor as we walked back down the stairs,

We were about to leave and then I looked over my shoulder,

"Connor... wait..."

I said, he stopped, then looked at me as I walked over to the stair case again.

But this time I looked under it.

As I went to move the boxes out the way Ralph grabbed me, holding my arms to my sides.

"RUN! QUICK! KARA!"

He yelled as a little girl and a woman with short hair dashed from the hiding spot.

They ran to the back door as Connor pulled Ralph off of me.

Just then Hank burst in,

"Connor, what's going on?"

"Its here!"

He yelled running to the back door to follow the android,

"Call it in Hank!"

I yelled as I jumped up to follow Connor.

Connor and I jumped over the fence and we saw an officer,

"Which way did it go?"

Connor asked, expecting an answer.

"That way-"

The officer pointed.

"They're headed for the train station!"

Guess Connor got his answer.

We started running again,

Another officer pointed down an alleyway,

"They're over there!"

He said and Connor and I skidded down the alley.

We saw them climbing over the fence into the fast traffic high way.

The officer rushed into the alley with us as the fence divided us from the android and the little girl, he raised his gun.

"Dont shoot! We need them alive!"

Connor yelled at the officer,

Hank came to the fence where we were, breathing heavily.

"Ah hell! That's insane..."

He said as he watched the little girl and the android evade the on coming traffic.

Then once they made it to the middle Connor started to climb over,

Hank pulled him down,

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?!"

He yelled,

"I cant let them get away!"

"Connor that's suicide!"

I pleaded at him,

"They wont! They'll never make it to the other side!"

Hank tried to reassure him.

"I cant take that chance!"

He began to climb the fence again and this time I pulled him down,

"Connor forget it! You'll get yourself killed!"

I yelled at him,

"Do NOT go after them Connor that's an order!"

Hank said, using his Lieutenant card.

Connor finally let go of the fence with a stern gaze at Hank.

Then he looked down at his nice business shoes and I patted his back,

"We'll get them Connor. Dont worry."

☆°~♡~°☆

Hank had invited me to get lunch with him and Connor at this food truck he liked.

I didnt know which food truck but I could really use some comfort food so of course I agreed.

I drove to the spot Hank said to meet them at and saw Connor sitting inside Hanks car as Hank ordered.

I shook my head sadly and parked my car, walking around to Connors window I leaned against the roof and knocked.

He looked over at me and lowered the window,

"Dont you wanna come out?"

Connor looked at Hank then me.

"Lieutenant Anderson told me to stay here."

He said and I snorted, a laugh.

"Oh come on."

I said, opening his unlocked door for him.

"We could all use some company right now."

I stuck out my hand to help him out the car, he took it.

His fingers were a lot colder then mine, but that was to be expected.

His LED flashed yellow and his cheeks went a strange blue colour as I pulled him out of the car and closed the door for him.

"Let's go."

I said, pocketing my keys and getting out my wallet as we approached Hank and the man he was talking to outside the food truck.

I saw Connor scan the area for a moment, looking from the person Hank was talking to, to the food truck, the server and Hank himself.

"Alright. I'm in."

Hank said to the man in a black and gold hoodie. He handed him over some cash and as the short guy looked through it, he glanced up at me and Connor.

His smiled morfed into a grin at me and I rolled my eyes,

Here we go...

I thought to myself as the short ass guy walked up to Connor and I.

"Ah, what a pleasure it is to see you."

He said, sticking out his hand for me to shake.

Needless to say I didnt take it.

"I believe you meant meet"

Connor corrected the short guy who chuckled and looked him up and down before turning back to me,

"Did I stutter?"

He said confidently as he snuggled up to me and I shoved him away, by his head.

"Piss off creep."

I said,

Hank, who was ordering food, was a little too busy to notice us.

"Ah come on-"

"I believe they told you to go away."

Connor said, looking at the short guy with a glare.

"Tch, no piece of plastics gonna tell me what I can and cant do."

"Leave him out of this short-ass."

I said,

The short guy raised his arms in mock surrender,

"Gees, dont gotta be a bitch. But it's ok I like my lovers spicy."

I gagged at him and Connor did the oddest thing.

He took me by my shoulder and pushed me so he was standing beside the short guy and I was on the other side of Connor.

"Ohhhhh so you're like their body guard? Their protector?"

The guy went on, Connor looked unfazed.

"They don't need protecting. They're perfectly capable of winning in a fight against you. But it is the right thing to help someone in need."

Connor explained,

"So you're this high and mighty man now huh?"

The short guy made his chest puff up a little and I stifled a laugh as Connor looked down at him, seeming a little agitated.

"I'm going to ask you to leave sir."

The little guy glared at Connor.

"You dont give me orders-"

Connor went to say something else but Hank turned around,

"Hey... everything ok?"

Connor opened his mouth to explain but the little man was already halfway down the street.

I sighed in relief and glared at the guys back,

"Its nothing Hank..."

Connor glanced at me and I subtly shook my head.

"...alright... you want anything
(Y/N)?"

"A sodas fine thanks."

I handed Hank my money and he bought me a coke and handed it to me.

"Ah gees dont you ever listen?"

Hank said to Connor, and I gave a stern look to Hank.

"Come on Hank, I told him to come with. Just lay off."

I said, sipping my drink.

"I'm sorry for my behaviour back at the police station."

Connor explained as the rain continued to pour down.

"I didn't mean to be unpleasant."

"Oh wow..."

Hank chuckled bitterly,

"You've even got a brown-nosing apology program."

"Hank..."

I scolded him.

"Guys at CyberLife really thought of everything huh?"

Connor didnt say anything after that.

The server finally handed Hank his food and we all stood at a table under an umbrella.

"I dont want to alarm you Lieutenant."

Connor started, his arms resting on the table as Hank ate his burger and I drank my soda.

"But I think your friends are engaged in illegal activities..."

I almost choked on my drink,

I quickly hid it with a cough.

"Well everybody does what they have to to get by... as long as they're not hurting anybody, I dont bother em."

Connor and I shared a look as Hank took another bite of his burger.

"Your meal contains 1.4 times the recommended daily intake of calories and twice the cholesterol level."

I stopped sipping my drink and looked at it with wide eyes.

"Oh Detective your soda is alright..."

He turned back to Hank,

"But you shouldn't eat that."

Hank shrugged,

"Everybodys gotta die of something..."

I cringed, I knew Hank...

We had known each other a couple years now, but I only recently became his partner.

I know about Cole, I know about his suicidal thoughts.

He promised me he would stop, doing those stupid Russian roulette games, his drinking...

But again, I knew he took up the drinking... I just prayed he didnt hurt himself anymore...

"This morning, when we were chasing those deviants... why didnt you want me to cross the highway?"

Hank gave him a look, like Connor was dumb.

"Cause you could've been killed..."

He said it obviously.

"And I dont like filling out paperwork for damaged equipment."

Then Connor looked at me expectantly.

"Well, I just didnt wanna see you get flattened by a car."

He looked at me with curiosity,

"Did you feel empthetical? Or was it as the Lieutenant said, unpleasant paperwork?"

I looked at Hank who avoided my gaze.

"Yeah sure, I care about you Connor."

I smiled at him.

"But... I'm a machine."

I shrugged sipping my drink,

"I see you as more then that."

I said sipping my drink casually.

It was the truth after all.

"Is there anything you'd like to know about me?"

I shook my head, he seems like an open book kinda guy.

"Hell, no-"

Hank started,

"Well yeah, um... why did they make you look so goofy and give you that weird voice?"

"Hank!"

I scolded and he shrugged,

"What? You cant tell me he doesn't sound weird or look it."

I glanced at Connor.

"He looks and sounds just fine Hank."

"Cyberlife androids are designed to work harmoniously with humans. Both my appearance and voice were specifically designed to facilitate my integration."

Connor explained to us,

Hank nodded.

"Well they fucked up."

I rolled my eyes at Hank and placed my hand on Connors arm,

"You look just fine to me."

He smiled at me,

"Can I ask you a personal question Lieutenant?"

Hank hesitated then nodded,

"Why do you hate androids so much?"

I tensed up at that and silently watched from over the rim of my soda can as Hank looked at Connor.

"I have my reasons."

Was all he said,

"Maybe I should tell you both what we know about deviants?"

"You read my mind..."

Hank said and i nodded for Connor to go on,

"Proceed."

"We believe that a mutation occurs in the software of some androids, which can lead to them emulating a human emotion."

"In English please."

Hank asked and I chuckled,

"They dont really feel emotions, they just get overwhelmed by irrational instructions, which can lead to unpredictable behaviour."

"So... it's a malfunction sort of?"

I asked,

"Correct."

Connor nodded at me.

"Emotions always screw everything up..."

I gave Hank a sad look,

"Maybe androids aren't as different from us as we thought. You ever dealt with deviants before?"

Hank asked as the two of us waited for Connors response.

"A few months back... a deviant was threatening to jump off the roof with a little girl... I managed to save her."

He said,

"So, I guess you've done all your homework right? Know everything there is to know about us?"

Hank gestured his hand back and forth between himself and me.

Connors eyes flicked over to me as he began to speak,

"(Y/N) Grey, 27 years old. Highest honors in their school training and regarded the best of their year. Their early days working at the station were fetching coffee's and sorting files, but they came along with you on one case and is now one of the best in their field of work."

My cheeks flared red at the compliment, he went on.

"They study androids in their spare time, and have attempted to start many arguments, fights and protests in androids honor."

Hank gave me a look,

"Further more, their peers and colleagues have written wonderful and genuine things about them. They also..."

He stopped and I knew what he was going to say,

"Dont."

Hank gave me a surprised look as I held my can tight between my hands.

"...dont talk about that..."

I said to Connor as I straightened up from leaning on the table.

"Im- I'm going to go throw this away."

I said, walking away from the two to throw away my can.

When I arrived back Connor quickly said,

"I just got a report of a suspected deviant. It's a few blocks away. We should go have a look. I'll let you finish your meal-"

I pulled my keys out of my pocket,

"Nope, you're riding with me rookie. Hank, we'll meet you there."

I grabbed Connors hand and pulled him to where my car was parked.

"We need to talk..."

I said as I sat down and buckled myself in, quickly driving away from the food truck and Hank.
