(Y/N) POV

☆°~♡~°☆

"Why'd you kill him?"

Connor, Chris, Gavin and I were all standing in a room looking at Hank interrogate the android...

So far it hadn't said a word.

"What happened before you took that knife?"

Hank asked...

"How long were ya in the attic?"

Hank questioned... still nothing.

"Why didnt you even try to run away?"

Again, nothing.

Hank snapped his fingers in front of the androids face.

Then he slammed his hands on the table,

"Say something goddamnit!"

He yelled! The android didn't even flinch.

I pinched the bridge of my nose tierdly as Hank stood up,

"I'm outta here..."

He said, leaving the android alone as he came back into our room and sat down with a sigh.

"We're wasting our time interrogating a machine."

I cringed at him calling it a machine...

"We're getting nothing out of it."

He said,

"Could always try roughing it up a little. After all it's not human."

Gavin suggested and I glared at him,

"Idiot. Androids dont feel pain. Besides, the poor things gone through enough."

"Its a machine (Y/N)!"

He sneered and I rolled me eyes,

"They are quite right. Androids dont feel pain. You would only damage it. And that wouldn't make it talk."

Connor said, I grinned at him.

"Deviants also have a tendency to self-destruct when they're in stressful situations."

He added and I gave a nod,

I didnt know that. Huh, well the more you know.

I thought to myself as Gavin scoffed,

"Okay smartass."

He stopped leaning on the wall, and walked towards Connor which made me tense up.

I thought he was gonna hurt him.

"What should we do then?"

He asked, gesturing animatedly to the android inside the interrogation room.

"I could try questioning it."

Connor said, looking at all of us in the room.

Gavin laughed obnoxiously and I rolled my eyes at him,

"I think it's a good idea."

I said, Gavin stopped laughing all of them in the room looking at me.

"What? Hes an Android if anyone can get through to another android it would be Connor. Besides, you got a better idea?"

I asked Gavin with a glare.

He didnt say anything.

Hank shrugged,

"What do we have to lose?"

He said, gesturing for Connor to go into the room.

"Go ahead. Suspects all yours."

Connor stood for a moment then opened the door and walked out.

Gavin chuckled bitterly.

"What? Got something to say?"

I said to him, I dont get everyones distaste for androids.

"Yeah, hes an android."

"Ok and?"

"Hes not human!"

"Your point?"

"Hes not fit to do this!"

"He was designed for this exact purpose dipshit, if you're gonna be all anti-android then pick a side, either hes too machine like to be human and therefore this is his main programme or he's too human to be full machine which means he can't do the job. Pick. A. Side."

I scolded him, and with that he just folded his arms and stared at the suspect as Connor sat down in the chair opposite him.

Connor sat for a moment, seeming to analyse and scan the other android.

All of us waited as he started to speak.

"I detect an instability in your program. It can trigger an unpleasant feeling, like fear in humans."

The bot said nothing.

"You're damaged. Did your owner do that? Did he beat you?"

Still nothing, I pitied the android...

"You're accused of murder. You know you're not allowed to endanger human life under any circumstances. Do you have anything to say in your defense?"

Connor questioned,

Nothing.

"If you won't talk, I'm going to have to probe your memory."

"NO!"

The android finally looked up, fear in his bionic eyes.

"No, please dont do that..."

I've heard of a memory probe before, but there wasnt much on it.

It was a connection between two androids, they can look into ones memory core. See what they've seen...

I hear it's a rather unnerving thing.

"What...what are they gonna do to me?"

The android asked and I felt like something had pulled at my heart strings.

The few cases I had done with Hank before this were all humans,

All dirty, rotten humans who either wanted vengeance or money.

This was the first time I sat back and felt pity for a suspect...

"They're gonna destroy me, aren't they?"

Even Gavin looked serious as we all watched Connor for his next move,

"They're going to disassemble you to look for problems in your biocomponents. They have no choice if they want to understand what happened."

Connor explained.

"Why did you tell them you found me?"

I saw Hank tense at the androids words.

"Why couldn't you just have left me there?"

"I was programmed to hunt deviants like you. I just accomplished my mission."

Connor stated.

The android was looking down at its hands, then it looked up at Connor.

"I dont wanna die."

It said, that struck me...

An android? Didnt want to die?

"Then talk to me."

Connor said calmly.

"I... I cant..."

Hank sighed, obviously thinking the interrogation was over.

"You're a machine, you were designed to obey, so obey!"

The rise in Connor's voice took everyone in the room by surprise.

"Tell me what happened."

Connor sighed, looking up at the deviant.

"Listen, I'm not judging you. I'm on your side. All I want is the truth. Confess and I'll protect you. I promise I wont let anyone hurt you."

I cringed at that, could Connor really promise that?

No he couldn't, and he knew that.

"He tortured me every day."

The android started. Everyone in the room tensed up, straightening in their seats and Gavin even moved away from the wall to see better.

"I did whatever he told me, but there was always something wrong... then one day, he took a bat and started hitting me. For the first time I felt... scared..."

Scared? Could androids feel scared?

"Scared he might destroy me, scared I might die... so I... grabbed the knife and I stabbed him in the stomach... I felt better, so I stabbed him again, and again. Till he collapsed. There was blood everywhere..."

It whispered looking back down at its hands as Connor processed the new information.

"Why did you write 'I AM ALIVE' on the wall?"

Connor asked, leaning forward.

"He used to tell me I was nothing... that I was just a piece of plastic..."

It looked up at Connor.

"I had to write it... to tell him he was wrong..."

The android looked back down at his hands.

"The sculpture in the bathroom, you made it, right? What does it represent?"

Connor asked, I remember him scanning it.

"Its an offering... an offering so I'll be saved."

An offering? To whom? Do androids have gods now?

"rA9... it was written on the bathroom wall, what does it mean?"

Connor asked,

The android looked at Connor's shirt blankly,

"The day shall come..."

Then he met Connor's eyes with his own.

"When we will no longer be slaves... no more threats... no more humiliation... we will... be... the masters..."

Everyone traded looks as Connor continued,

"The sculpture was an offering. An offering to whom?"

He asked,

"To rA9... only rA9 can save us..."

The android whispered to Connor as if we couldn't hear him.

"rA9... who is rA9?"

He asked,

But the android didnt respond.

"Why did you hide in the attic, instead of running away?"

"I didnt know what to do... for the first time there was no one there to tell me.. I was scared... so I hid..."

Connor nodded,

"When did you start feeling emotion?"

Connor asked the android.

"Before, he used to beat me and I never said anything... but one day I realised it wasnt... fair! I felt... anger... hatred... and then I knew what I had to do..."

Connor looked at the mirror to us,

"I'm done."

He said, swiftly getting up and out of his seat as the rest of us all went into the interrogation room.

"Chris lock it up."

Gavin said as him and Chris walked into the room first.

I patted Connor on the shoulder,

"Nice work, rookie."

I joked, for the longest time I had been the rookie. It felt fitting to call the new-be rookie.

Not sure he got the joke though.

Connor smiled awkwardly at my smile and I saw his LED flash yellow, he was thinking.

"Leave me alone-"

The android said, Hank, Connor and I turned to see what was happening.

"Dont touch me."

It said to Chris who gave a confused look at Gavin.

"The fuck are you doing?"

Gavin asked, annoyed, as Chris tried to pull the android out of its chair.

"Come now... don't be difficult, it'll only make things worse."

Chris tried to reason with the bot, who flinched away again.

"NO! Dont touch me!"

"You shouldn't touch it."

I looked at Connor then to Gavin who rolled his eyes as he glared at Connor.

"It'll self-destruct if it feels threatened."

Connor explained,

"Stay outta this, got it? No fuckin' androids gonna tell me what to do."

I crossed my arms,

"Gavin, just listen to him."

"Its an 'it' (Y/N), and it was designed to listen to me!"

"No he was designed to be smart and efficient. So listen to the smart person in the room Gavin."

I gritted my teeth as Gavin continued to push Chris to get the android out.

"You dont understand. If it self-destructs, we wont get anything out of it!"

Connor said to Gavin, with a stern voice.

"I told you to shut your fuckin' mouth!"

Gavin yelled back, I was about to say something but Hank put a hand on my shoulder and shook his head, his jaw clenched.

"I cant let you do that! Leave it alone, now!"

Connor yelled, moving to push Chris out the way so he would leave the bot be.

"I warned you!"

Gavin yelled as he pulled out his gun and held it to Connors head.

Hank and I were just as fast as I marched to Gavins side and pressed the barrel of my gun right against the side of his head,

Hank had his gun trained on Gavin from the other corner of the room.

"That's enough."

I said sternly,

"Mind your own business (Y/N)!"

Gavin said with venom,

"You heard them. That's enough."

Hank said,

Gavin swore as he dropped his gun to his side, Hank dropped his next.

I made eye contact with Connor, and then lowered my gun.

He gave one last menacing glance at Connor before leaving the room.

"Everything is alright."

Connor reassured the android who had been pushed out of its chair,

"Its over now. Nobody's gonna hurt you."

He turned to Chris,

"Please. Dont touch it. Let it follow you out of the room and it wont cause any trouble."

As the android stood up I could see he whispered something to Connor,

Connor's LED flashed yellow.

Guess he was thinking again.

☆°~♡~°☆

I yawned as I went through my computer in the early hours of the morning... as usual, Hank wasnt here.

That's when I looked up and saw Connor striding towards my desk,

"Good morning Detective Grey."

He said, all prim and proper.

I smiled,

"Morning Connor."

I took a sip of my take-away coffee as I looked up at him again,

"You looking for Hank?"

I asked,

"And you. But I have located you. The receptionist tells me that the Lieutenant has not arrived yet. Do you know when he will?"

I chuckled, taking a sip of my drink.

"Depends on where he was the night before. If we're lucky, we'll see him before noon."

"Oh right."

He stood there awkwardly for a minute.

"Oh why dont you sit down?"

I gestured to the seat that was opposite my desk, not Hanks seat but the one where civilians would come to talk to me.

Connor nodded sitting down and taking a long glance at Hank and my desks.

He got up and walked over to Hanks desk, he picked up the headset and took it to his ear almost jumping at the loud sound.

I laughed,

"Hehe, Hank enjoys his heavy metal. What music do you listen to?"

I asked Connor, he sat down opposite me again.

"Oh I dont listen to music. But I'd like to."

He told me and I smiled behind my coffee.

"Do you listen to music Detective?"

He asked me and I nodded,

"Oh yeah. I do."

Connor's eyes flitted to my computer,

"Hmmmm ABBA. A swedish pop supergroup formed in Stockholm in 1972 by-"

"O-oh I dont think we wont the whole office to know I listen to that old music."

I said to Connor,

He nodded.

"Is your music not... pleasing?"

I sighed, smiling.

"No, I like it. Its just- dont want to give Gavin another reason to bother me you know?"

He nodded.

"I dont think he likes me much."

I chuckled,

"He dosent like many people."

Connor nodded once again.

"Oh Hank."

I said, noticing as Hank walked over to his desk infront of me.

Connor stood and walked around to Hanks side.

"Its good to see you again, Lieutenant."

He smiled.

"Ugh, jesus..."

Hank groaned and looked at me.

I shrugged.

"Hank! In my office!"

I gave him a sympathetic look as he walked towards the office.

"You to Grey."

Hank chuckled as I groaned and stood up, following him and Connor into the captains office.
