The week went by slowly. The doctors checked on me every 6 hours and Barbra would come in whenever she could. Gavin, Marcus, and Sasha all visited at least once a day. Haley stayed at the hospital with me while my mom went home to rest and get things ready for when I came home.

Today the doctors said it was okay for me to come home and I couldn't be happier for it. They told me that I am scheduled to come back in for a check up in two weeks. Until then they will be sending Barbra as my nurse and I will be meeting my physical therapist tomorrow.

I anxiously sat in the wheelchair next to Haley waiting to get out if this hell hole.

"You're all set Miss Morgan. You are free to go home. Miss Barb will be at your house to check on you on Thursday. Your personal physical therapist will be there to meet you and start your therapy tomorrow. Call us if anything is bothering you like shortness of breath or any type of pain and we will get you in right away." A nurse explained.

I nodded and before I knew it we were out the door and headed toward my mom's house.

When I got to the house Haley pushed me through the door. Everything was dark. That is until Haley flipped on the lights.

"Surprise!" I heard a group of people tell making me scream. A sharp pain went through my side but I ignored it.

"Welcome home baby doll." Marcus said with a smile before giving me a box carefully and kissing my cheek.

My mom, Sasha, and Gavin all looked at me with bright smiles on their faces.

"Hey guys." I said.

"That present is from all of us. We know you've been wanting one for quite a while." Sasha explained.

My eyebrows scrunched in confusion as I looked down at the box. Opening it slowly I gasped at the sight of a baby kitten in the box with a big purple bow around its neck. It looked up at me and made the cutest meow.

"Awe you guys! I love her!" I squealed and picked her up carefully from the box. "But I have to ask. How long was she in there?"

"No more than ten minutes. Haley texted us to tell us you were getting close." Gavin smiled.

"Thank you guys." I said petting the kittens head.

"What are you gonna name it?" My mom asked with excitement.

"I'm going to name her..." I paused and looked at the kitten trying to think of the perfect name. "How about Jade?"

The kitten meowed when I said Jade and I'm guessing that means she likes it. Jade started to purr into my hand as I petted her. After a few minutes she curled up into a ball and fell asleep.

"I love her guys. Thank you all so much." I whispered making sure not to wake up Jade.

"No problem. And we bought you all of the stuff for her too. Food, litter box, toys, everything." Sasha said excitedly.

"Some of it is at your apartment but most of it is here." Gavin smiled at me.

"Again thank you guys so much." I said with a smile before yawning.

"Tired?" My mom asked.

"A little." I said feeling the sleepiness set in.

"Let's show you to your new room until you're healed." Haley said smiling down at me.

I nodded before she wheeled me down the hall and into a room.

A twin sized bed with black and white sheets was in the corner. A small desk had my laptop and college text books on it. The closet had some of my clothes in it. In the corner near my bed was a cat play house. A smile spread to my lips as I looked around the room.

"It's not much but it's just until you're better." My mom explained.

"It's perfect." I said before Haley pushed me into the room.

Gavin and Marcus both picked me up and laid me in my bed slowly making sure they didn't hurt me.

"Thanks guys." I mumbled as sleep slowly started to take over.

"No problem princess." Gavin said before kissing my forehead and laying Jade next to me so she cuddled into my side.

"Sweet dreams." Sasha smiled.

"We will come see you after you meet your therapist tomorrow." Marcus said rubbing my arm before heading to follow Gavin and Sasha out the bedroom door.

"Goodnight babe. I'll be back here tomorrow morning to make you breakfast." Haley said with a bright smile.

I nodded before she left the room.

"Night baby girl. I'll see you first thing in the morning. Get a good nights rest." My mom said.

I nodded and slowly fell into a deep sleep after she and everybody else was out of the room.

I woke up to the smell of bacon and the sound of my mom humming. I sat up in my bed slowly and carefully. My side was sore and so were my arm and legs. I looked down to a sleeping Jade and smiled. I slowly started to pet her as my mom's humming stopped.

A few moments later I heard footsteps walking toward my bedroom door. my door slowly creaked open as my mom poked her head in the room.

"Oh good you're awake." She said with a big smile.

She walked into the room and placed a tray of eggs, bacon, and toast on my desk before walking over to me and fixing my pillow so I could sit up. after I was comfortably situated she brought the tray over and set it on my lap.

"Now you eat all of it. Your physical therepist will be here in about two hours. I'll go tell Hailey that you're awake." She said patting my leg and standing up.

Before she could reach the door I swallowed the bite of food that was in my mouth.

"Mom, do you think you can help me with something after I finish eating?" I asked slightly embarassed.

"Yeah sweet heart. Anything. What do you need?"

"Can you... um... help me take a shower before the trainer gets here?" I asked looking at my plate as I felt the heat rise to my cheeks.

"I'll help you. Don't worry. I'll go get Hailey and you call for me when you're finished and we will get you showered." She smiled as she walked out the door of my room.

Not even a minute later Hailey came into my room.

"Hey girly. How ya feelin'?" She asked sitting on the side of the bed and picking up Jade and placing her gently on her lap.

"Good. Just tired." I said eating some of the eggs on my plate.

"Yeah, I bet." She said with a sad smile.

"Will you do me a huge favor?" I asked after finishing my plate. She nodded. "While my therepist is here can you keep my mom distracted and not near us because I hate it when she interveens and has to know absolutely everything that happens to me. I want to finally have some control over my life without her breathing down the back of my neck."

"Of course. I'll get her to take me Christmas shopping or something." She said waving her hand like it was nothing.

"Thank you." I said before turning my attention towards the door. "Hey mom?"

A few moments later my mom poked her head through the door.

"All done?" She asked picking up the tray from my lap. "Ready for your shower?"

"Yeah." I said as my cheeks tinted a slight pink.

After my mom had made me feel awkward by wrapping my casts and taking off my clothes I finally had a moment of peace in the shower. Mom had gotten a seat installed into the shower so I can sit and shower and not have to stand. The hot water felt so good against my tense muscles.

As I carefullu washed my body, I ran my fingertips over the stitches in my side from the surgery. I whinced when I put the slightest amount of pressure on it.

Once I was finally done I turned off the watter and carfully grabbed the towl sitting next to the shower and dried myself off and carefully pulled on my robe.

"Mom?" I called.

"Coming sweet heart." I heard my mom say outside of the door. "Hailey is coming too."

"Okay." I said.

They both came in and helped me out of the shower and Hailey helpped me get dress. I'm guessing she was the one to pick out my outfit because it was yoga shorts and a tanktop even though it is -10 degrees outside, but hey, whatever, the house is hot and I won't be going out any time soon I don't think. I sat in my wheelchair while Hailey blew my hair dry and french braided it for me.

"Thanks Hailey." I said looking at my hands.

"It's not a problem chicka, I'm always here for you. That's what I agreed to when I signed the best friend contract." She said with a goofy grin on her face making me smile.

"Hey Mel! The therepist is here." My mom called out.

"Okay. We'll be right there." I called back before turning to look at Hailey. "Please keep her as busy as possible."

"I got it." She chuckled softly as she pushed me into the livingroom.

"Mel, this is your physical therepist, Cade Granger." My mom said with a polite smile as she motioned to the man who looked to be no older than 23 sitting on the couch across from her.

He was a well built man with broad shoulders and healthy fit body. His short brown hair was messy but in a perfessional way. His jaw looked cleanly shaven. His green eyes peirced directly into mine as he stood to his feet and walked over to me, grabbing my good hand gently and shaking it.

"Very nice to meet you Ms. Morgan." He said in a husky voice.

"Likewise." I said. He sat back down and Hailey pushed me closer to the couch before turning to my mom who was aitting there oblivious to the looks I was giving her to leave.

"Hey Mrs. Morgan. Would you mind helping me? I've been having a hard time shopping for Chistmas presents for my parents." Hailey said with a small smile.

"No. I think I should..." She started but when she saw the looks both Hailey and myself were giving her. "Oh... Okay."

She stood up and went into the kitchen. Before Hailey left she leaned to whisper in my ear,

"He's a cutie."

Before she disappeared behind the door she winked at me making me let out a huge sigh I didn't know I was holding in. I heard a low chuckle come from the man next to me.

"Your mom is something else isn't she?" He said shaking his head.

"Yep." I said popping the p.

"So, Ms. Morgan. I'm guessing you don't want me to call you that because it makes you feel old?"

"Just call me Mel." I said.

"Okay. And you can call me Cade if you'd like." He said with a smile showing off his dimples.

"Alright." I said. "Let's get this over with. I want to find the quickest way to get out of these casts."

Cade chuckled.

"So we can probably get you walking with a boot and crutches in about a month. And I think we could get you using that arm again in a few weeks." He said pulling out a note pad from a bag on the floor. "I'll be back tomorrow but I want your mom to start making these types of foods for you. They will help strengthen your bones."

He finished writing stuff down and tore off the peice of paper before handing it to me.

"Thanks." I said placing the paper on the table.

"So I might as well get to know you better." He said. "How about I ask you some questions?"

"Sure." I said. "Only if I can ask you some."

"Fair enough." He laughed slightly. "How old are you?"

"I'm 19. I turn 20 in a few weeks." I said raising my eyebrow as I watched him write it down. "How old are you?"

"I just turned 23 a month ago." He chuckled. "What do you normally do during the day?"

"What do you mean by that?" I asked scrunching my eyebrows.

"I mean what do you do? Like go to work, work out, watch tv." He said.

"Oh. Well I work at a bar downtown." I said I couldn't ask him that question cause I already knew the answer so I said the first question that came to my head. "What's your favorite color?"

"What?" He asked chuckling deeply making me blush in embarassment. "Did you just ask me what my favorite color was?"

"Yes."I said pouting trying to hold in my laughter.

"It's blue." He said shrugging his shoulders. "What are your work hours?"

"Normally 9pm to 3am." I said and he wrote that down. "Whats your favorite movie?"

"Grease." He said shaking his head slightly before looking up at me. "Are these the only types of questions you're going to ask?"

"Maybe. What's wrong with them?" I pouted.

"Nothng. Absolutely nothing at all." He said.

After a short silence he mumbled.

"It's kinda cute." He didnt think I heard him. But I did. And it made me smile like an idiot.
