It had been a week since I had seen Kayd with the blond, and I had been avoiding him quite well.
He had sent me a few texts with each having a simple and short "Hey'', and I had deleted them without a second glance.
Zach and I had been hanging out with Alex, Dee, Layla and Bobby a lot, and when we weren't with them we were hanging out on our own.
I enjoyed his company, he could start a conversation about anything, and hold one pretty well.
And of course, he served as a perfect distraction from a certain Silver, which was an added bonus.
But today, apparently, my luck had run out, I always knew it would, I had just hoped it would have lasted a little longer.
Zach stood with me on the outskirts of the field which was right outside the school cafeteria.
He smiled nervously, "So, um, Kar, I hope you don't think I'm forward or anything, but I really like you. And I know I haven't known you long but the time we've been spending together, its been awesome. And I was wondering if you would be my girlfriend?''
Now, where I did find that extremely sweet, I couldn't say a thing because all I could focus on was the blond walking out of the cafeteria and toward us with a determined look on his face.
Silver.
Zach frowned, ''Karma?''
''Uh-" I was rudely cut off by Kayd.
''Karma, whats going on?''
Zach turned to him, ''Hey, dude, we're kind of in the middle of something if you don't mind''
''Yeah, I do mind,'' he said rudely, turning his attention to me, ''Kar, I'm waiting.''
I sighed, "Kayd, I don't know what you want me to say.''
"I want you to tell me why you've been avoiding me.'' He said, not even trying to mask the anger in his voice.
''I have not.'' I knew we all knew that was a load of bull, but there was no way I was letting Kayd Silver see that he had gotten to me, and that his games had hurt me; I was better then that.
Kayd frowned so slightly that anyone else would have missed it, ''K, c'mon, whats wrong?''
I scowled at him, ''Nothing, Silver.''
I was vaguely aware of Zach's presence standing off to the side, and I realized exactly what was going on.
Kayd Silver was acting like this because he was territorial and he obviously felt threatened by Zach, as he should, Zach was at least an honest person, not a lying, cheating player.
''If nothings wrong, why have you been avoiding my texts?''
I shrugged, ''I hardly have time to be on my phone, I'm always out these days.'' The being out wasn't a lie, however the part about not having time for my phone was the biggest bluff out.
Kayds eyes visibly darkened, ''Out with who?'' Even as he asked, his eyes scanned Zach briefly.
I was surprised when Zach stepped up next to me and casually wrapped an arm around my waist, "Me. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have something to talk about.'' And with that Zach pulled me off, leaving a confused and hurt looking Kayd staring after us.
He was the one who had kissed me and then gone and found someone else, he didn't have a right to have those emotions.
As soon as we were alone, he stopped and turned to me, "Okay, now before I carry on, what's going on with you and that guy?''
I sighed, what was going on with us? God, I didn't even really know.
"Nothing.'' The easiest answer.
''Are you sure? Coz he seemed really territorial back there,'' he said, raising an eyebrow, ''And I like you and want to start something, but only if you're one hundred percent free.''
Kayd flashed in my mind briefly. But then I pushed it aside, I mean, there's a hot Irish guy that's into me, and then there's Kayd.
The hot player.
Now, where I know for a fact that there's a giant part of me that's wants to be with Kayd, but I'm going with the more logical idea.
I smiled, ''Yes, Zach, I'm sure.''
**********
It had been a whirlwind week of dating Zach.
He had been taking me out every day after school, and on every weekend.
Yet he wasn't the face I saw when I closed my eyes.
Okay, that also might have something to do with the fact that he had been texting me recently.
I had still however, been avoiding him like the plague. Not that he seemed to get the message.
I was confused to say the least, I didn't understand how he could make out with me, then ignore me, and then want to act like nothing was wrong.
Men.
I was sitting with Alex and Layla at the ice-cream store.
We had been discussing Zach, and of course, Kayd.
''I think you should just talk to the guy.'' Said Layla.
I rolled my eyes, ''Hes trying to play games with me, Layla.''
''You don't know that.'' She pointed out.
I frowned of course i knew that, why else would he have avoided me after our make out session only to try and now get back in my good books?
''Look, the guy is a player, we knew this, I knew this, from day one, its not like hes going to suddenly change for me. If he is actually trying to make an effort with me now its only because he didn't get all the way, and he wants to accomplish something.'' Saying this made me have the strangest feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Alex raised an eyebrow, ''Karma You cant tell me that you actually believe that.''
I sighed, a part of me wanted to, it really did, but then there was this huge part that was screaming that he wouldn't do that, that he actually was deeper then that.
My hesitance was all the sly traitor needed to continue.
"Ah ha! You don't believe it, I knew it! Karma, stop trying to punish him and just give him a chance.''
Layla was nodding along, ''Yes, I agree with Als. Just give him a chance to talk to you at least.''
Just as I was about to protest,my phone chimed, indicating a text.
KAYD: Hey (:
My heart was being a complete traitor and it beat way faster at that simple message, and my stomach felt like it had a zoo inside.
KAYD: I wud really lyk 2 c u (:
I sighed.
''Whos that?'' Asked Layla.
''Um, Kayd."
''Oh, so that's why the huge smile.'' I glared at Alex for that, I did not have a huge smile.
Okay... Maybe a little one.
Okay, so maybe avoiding Kayd wasn't going to be as easy I had originally hoped.
**********
I was getting ready for bed when my phone started ringing.
It was a private number and where I would normally not answer, I did.
''Hello?''
''Please don't hang up. Just give me a minute.''
I sighed at Kayd''s voice, ''A minute.''
"'God. Karma, what the hell has been going on? I don't get why you're acting this way, I just.. I don't know, I miss how things were, and I miss us hanging out.. I just, I miss you.''
I didn't know what to say to that so I just kept my mouth shut.
''Karma? Are you still there?
"Yeah."
''Can we meet up?''
I sighed, there was no way I could have said no to him, I couldn't deny that it felt good to hear his voice, and I missed him, ''Okay.''
