My mom squeezed me tight and sniffled once again.
"Oh, my poor baby going to defend for herself." My mom said as her bottom lip trembled.
"Mama I'll be fine. You know I'm a big girl. I'm eighteen today. You said you'd let me go."
"I know, I know you spoild brat. Come here and give me another hug. Who knows when you come back to see me."
I rolled my eyes but squeezed her in another hug anyways.
"You've grown into such an amazing woman. Your dad would be so proud. Oh! That reminds me!"
She ran inside the house. While she was up the stairs in her room I was left to my thoughts. I missed my dad. He died to lung cancer five years ago. I wish he was here to watch me go. He'd probably would've given me some advice. Before my thoughts could go any further mom bounded back down the stairs and to me with her arms behind her back.
"Hands out." She commanded. I did as she said and put my bags on the floor and held my hands out. She slowly pulled her hands from behind her and layed a sloppily wrapped present in my hands. There was writing on the red wrapping paper.

I felt my eyes water as I held it in my hands. I ripped around the words and stuck it in one of my bags. I ripped the paper the rest of the way and inside was a jewelry box. I opened the box and looked in to see something that made the tears that were brimming, flow over. It was a necklace with a white gold chain and a heart shaped diamond hanging from it with the word angel written inside it. It was beautiful. Mom doesnt do the whole crying scean so she hugged me and shooed me to my car and threw my bags in for me and stood there while I cleared my face then drove off. Goodbye Alabama, Florida here I come.
