It's lunch break. Finally! After the break, we're going to have one more class before we can actually go home.
Well i have practice so i'll be home late today. Considering that i'll be late, i better eat more for the sake of my happy tummy!
I enter the cafeteria and see a lot of people lining up already. I line up behind a girl with ponytail and try to peek in front.
What's the menu today?
"Jieun?"
I turn to the call of my name and find Jimin and Hyunae standing beside me.
"Oh, hi." I smile awkwardly, quickly turning away to see the girl in front of me taking few steps forward.
"Do we line up to buy lunch?" Jimin asks, following me going forward.
"Well, our parents paid expensive for this thing so technically, we don't buy. We get." I explain shortly. "Now if you want to get your lunch too, please line up before everyone behind me starts thinking that you're trying to cut the line."
Jimin's eyebrows are lifted as he looks behind, some people are staring at him in annoyance already.
"Oh, okay. See you Jieun." he flashes me a smile and waves a quick goodbye. As he goes, i can hear him complaining about how Hyunae left him behind.
Adorable newbie.
I turn my head to look behind, and find both of them lining up already while chatting with Taehyung.
My eyes gleam at the sight of him. I was even contemplating to leave my line, but my tummy won't allow me to re-queue. I'm too hungry.
I pout, turning around and step forward.
I'll just sit with him later.
-oOo-
I ended up eating alone.
Yes, i wanted to be with Taehyung in the beginning, but he's too busy with his new friends. With additional of Namjoon and Jungkook, i don't think i want to eat with them anymore. I can't eat in peace if i'm with them. Unless yesterday.
Anyway, today's menu is great. Beef steak! Who can resist this beautiful thing right here? Not me, obviously.
I eat while looking around, finding the cafeteria so loud with all people's voice. They chat, they gossip, they laugh.
Everyone unless me.
Do i look pathetic? I must admit, i do. It's so boring eating alone! I don't have somebody to talk to, no one is in front of me.
I sigh, stabbing my delicious steak with fork angrily.
"Nam Jieun!"
Wait. I know this voice.
I try to remember, and when i finally did, a groan escapes from my mouth and i look up reluctantly. As expected, Namjoon is looking at me with his cheeky smile that never fails to annoy me everytime.
"Come here and sit with us! What's with the loner attitude?" He invites, but no thanks. It's better to be alone than to be with you two!
However, it's impossible for me to shout across the cafeteria. I decided to just shake my head and focus back on my steak.
Annoying piece of shit.
Few moments of peace, a silhouette suddenly appears, overshadowing the precious steak in front of me.
I lift my head and my eyes directly met with the beautiful guy in front of me.
"Let me sit here?"
Flustered, i only nod my head and he sits across of me immediately.
He takes a bite out of his steak and drinks his water. He does that all with his eyes still glued on me.
Feeling annoyed, i glare at him and accuse, "What's with that annoying stare, Kim Taehyung?"
The guy pouts. "Are you okay?" he asks.
"Yes?" I reply. "I just want to avoid Namjoon and Jungkook, they're gonna be annoying."
"Why are they annoying?" he asks again.
"They're too loud, i can't eat in peace."
"Ah," he nods. "Okay. I'll ask them to work with that. So next time, please eat with us."
I get flustered at his words. And get confused even more when he stays with me until he finishes his food, leaving his friends there.
What is this guy doing? He usually didn't do sweet thing?
As we get up to arrange the used utensils to its specified place, i can't help but to suspect him.
Turning to him who stands beside me, i shoot. "What's with that attitude?"
He gets flustered at my question.
After a moment of silence, the boy finally replies after clearing his throat. "I thought you're having an argument with your dad again this morning. I'm just worried."
At his answer, i mentally melt. How sweet.
"And you also look pathetic sitting alone as if you don't have friends. So next time sit with me, sit with us." he continues.
Did Kim Taehyung just ask me to sit with him during lunch? Yes he did.
Well i mean we sit together usually, but it's always me who shamelessly follow him. He never asks me to sit with him in the first place.
But he's still annoying because he can't stop pitying me.
"Alright, alright." I nod lazily, getting tired of this attitude of his.
-oOo-
The last class is over, and i still have around half an hour before the other cheerleader members finish their classes too. I take this chance to walk around the whole building, instead of tailing Taehyung as usual.
I'm still pissed at him. He's like my second dad! Worrying me about not having friends and stuff. It's not like he's trying to help me with this trait. I mean.. just back off! Ugh.
After few minutes of strolling, i finally reach the top floor of the building. What is it up here? If you ask me, i can't answer you too. Few months of being here, i've never been to the top floor myself. Not until today. Now let's find out together then, shall we?
What do we have on the top floor?
Well.. we have the art clubroom, the taekwondo clubroom, gym, some classes belong to the seniors, a door that probably leads to the rooftop. That's it.
I didn't know we have a gym here! If i see around more, maybe i'll find a swimming pool too?
I decided to go to the rooftop, since that's the only place i can stay in.
Opening the door, i was welcomed by some stairs that leads me to the rooftop. By the end of the stairs, there's one more door before it actually reveals the outdoor rooftop.
As i open the other door, the afternoon breeze immediately greets me. I close my eyes, unknowingly smile as the soft wind caresses my hair.
"Nam Jieun?"
I open my eyes in shock, gasping at the sight of a familiar boy in front of me. "P-Park Jimin?"
"Hi," he smiles, then gets off from sitting on the parapet wall.
Why is he always smiling?
"How can you find this place?" I ask blatantly, not bothered to hide my confusion.
He chuckles at my question. "I used to always find the rooftop first in whichever school i attended. I guess this habit won't stop until now."
I nod, lips parted a little at his statement. Well.. what a peculiar habit he has.
"Rooftop is the best hideout, since students rarely go here." he turns around, putting his hands into his pants's pockets before walking away from me.
"Why would you need a hideout?" I ask, taking few steps forward and now we're standing side by side. "Do you cry often?"
Once again, he bursts into laughter. Am i this funny?
"No, not like that." he turns to look at me, still smiling. "Some people are just born to be overthinker, you know,"
Oh. I get it now.
"If you have too many thoughts, just go here. The breeze and the sky will peace your mind."
With his words, i turn away, staring at the beautiful pink and purple sky upon of me.
Well, he's right i guess.
Nobody says a word after that. We just enjoy the afternoon view quietly. However strangely, the silence between us is peaceful.
"Can we share the hideout? I think i'll like it here too."
This time, he almost laughs again at my words. Almost. Thank God he didn't.
"You're the most random person i know." he states, finally making me understand why he keeps laughing at whatever i said. He thinks i am.. random.
"But yeah, let's share this hideout together. I'm glad that somebody loves this place too."
