Sweet Pea
I walk down the halls to my locker from my math class. My friends Archie and Reggie are waiting for me to arrive. Archie has his girl under his arm. Her name is Veronica Lodge. They figured out they were soulmates last year after Veronica made it on the cheer squad. Then Reggie is holding his girls hand, her name is Ginger Lopez. She is also on the cheer squad.
I walked up to them and opened my locker. "Hey Sweet Pea, how was your night man?" Archie asks. I put on my varsity jacket and pulled out my books. "It was fine nothing really eventful happened.
Reggie laughed "So Josie didn't sneak over last night?" Reggie asked. I shook my head "No she rehearsal with the pussy cats last night so she skipped out" I shut my lock then started our journey to class. Ginger and Veronica said goodbye as we walked into the class.
Reggie, Archie and I walked back to the classroom and sat down. I zoned out as the teachers voice fell over the classroom. I have always wondered who my soulmate was. When I first met Josie I had wished that she was my soulmate but now those feelings are gone. She is more like a friends with benefits now.
I was sitting in a dazed state when the teacher said my name "Sweet Pea can you please answer the question" the teacher asked. I looked at Archie and he just shrugged "Uhh what was the question?" I asked. The teacher had sighed of disappointment "Anyone else?" she looked around the room.
Only one hand had raised into the air in the front row "Yes Mr.Jones" she says in delight "It is the temperature in which paper burns" he answers "Very good thank you Mr.Jones" The teacher smiles. "Okay class we are going to . . ." I zone out again when a folded paper is slid in front of me. I look over to Reggie as i unfold the paper.
Mrs.Patterson is such a bitch huh?
I laugh and responded and passed it back.
Her husband probably 'works overtime' with the receptionist
He chuckles and writes something back.
She has a nice rack though, you think she banging a student?
I hold in a laugh and write down a response.
Yeah maybe its beanie boy, that is why he knows all the answers. She tells him in all their 'private lessons'
I pass it back and Reggie laughs, unfortunately catching the teachers attention. "Sweet Pea and Reggie stand up" we look at each other and stand. Patterson eyes trail down to the note and back up to us. "Come to the front and read the note to the class" She demands.
My stomach dropped and I looked at Reggie. He looked back at me. "Now come up here please" she demands a little bit louder. I look at the ground and walk to the front with Reggie trailing behind me. We stood at the front and Reggie unfolded the note.
"Mrs.Patterson is a . . . bitch" Reggie said nervously.
"Um her husband is probably working overtime with . . . the receptionist" I looked over to the crowd who started laughing.
"She has a nice rack though, you think she is banging a student?" the students laugh and out of the corner of my eye I see her cross her arms over her chest.
"Um yeah maybe its . . . " I lick my lips trying to work up the nerve to say it "Beanie boy, that is how he knows the answers to all the answers. She tells him during all their private lessons."
The class had laughed once again. I let the guilt wash over me and looked at the beanie clad boy. He was red and looking at the ground.
In the pit of my guilt i heard the bell ring. "Everyone is dismissed, except you two, stay after" Mrs.Patterson announces.
Once the class was gone we were stood in front of the teachers desk. "You two have some nerve I cant believe you would write something so hurtful especially about a student you don't know." she paused "I have decided your punishments Reginald you will be working in the library before and after school for the rest of the semester"
Reggie grunted and walked out of the classroom with an attitude. "Now Sweet Pea you will be working in the Blue and gold for the rest of the semester" I nodded " Tomorrow go to room 128 after school and they will give you further notice."
I make my way out of the classroom and head to my locker. I pass beanie boys locker where our local scary girl Toni Topaz and girl next door Betty Cooper are standing with him. They both give me a death glare as i walk by. I look back and Toni stood up straighter "What are you looking at asshole?" she asks.
"Ignore him Toni he's not worth it" Betty says. The beanie boy just faced his locker. I just made my way to my locker.
Jughead Jones
I rushed out of class to try to hide my embarrassment. I arrived to my locker where Toni and Betty are waiting for me. It surprises me that they are soulmates. They are exact opposites, dark and light, or the moon and the sun. We all met through the blue and gold freshman year.
Toni the photographer, Betty the reporter, and I am the writer. Its only the three of us but I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Hey Jug how was class?" Betty asked "It sucked those football players Sweet Pea and Reggie they had to read the notes they were passing in class." I stopped and opened my locker. "what did the note say?" Toni asked.
"Lets just say since I know the answers that means I'm hooking up with Mrs.Patterson behind her husbands back" I explain.
"No way" Betty said "Jeez what assholes" Toni announced right after.
Then right on que I hear foot steps coming from down the hallway. "What are you looking at asshole?" I hear Toni yell "Don't Toni he isn't worth it" I hear Betty chime in. I just face my locker in embarrassment.
I hear the footsteps fade and sigh in relief. 'Was that necessary?" I ask Toni. She roles her eyes and nods "Yes he is an asshole" she responds. "Whatever lets go we have to start the layout" I say closing my locker.
Toni grabs Betty's hand and we go to the blue and gold. We arrive and get settled and start working on his weeks paper lay out. Then the door opens to reveal Mrs.Patterson. "Hello Kids" she says. "I'm sure by now Jughead had told you girls what had happened last period. " Toni and Betty both nodded.
"Um so I have punished the two boys but that does mean that one of them is coming to work in here till Christmas break" She announces.
I tense up a little "Which one?" i ask "Sweet Pea" she answers.
"Are we getting anything out of this?" Toni asks
"A new editor and extra credit" she answers.
"He will be here tomorrow after school and I expect you will know how to move forward." she says and leaves.
"Great" I say annoyed "Well tomorrow should be interesting" Betty comments. "Lets just get back to work okay?" I announce turning back to the layout.
...
A few hours later we had finally finished. "We are leaving now Jug, text me when you get home and be careful walking" Betty says and kisses my cheek. "Yeah stay safe Jones Imma take Betts home text me too." Toni says and kissed my other cheek.
"Bye guys Ill text you both when I get home." I said then they left. I did my home work and wrote some of my book" I had left around seven and it was getting dark. I made my way home and was greeted with a cold empty trailer.
There was a not left on the counter.
Jug,
I have business in Greendale. Ill be back later this week. There is food left in the fridge. It should last you. Have a good week at school. Love you.

That is just amazing. My dad is out of town again. Its not like he wants to be out of town his job is just super demanding. My dad and I have a great relationship when he is here but I am home alone a lot.
I texted Betty and Toni to let them know that I had arrived home safely. Then went to look for something to eat. I pulled out the spaghetti my dad had made us last night.
I wormed it up and sat at the table.
After I ate I wrote more in my story and watched some TV until I had to go to bed. It took me awhile to fall asleep. After awhile I finally let sleep wash over my body.
