A booming laugh could be heard across the cafe. It was June. He was holding himself back from rolling on the floor because his stomach hurt from too much of laughing.
"You broke into a fight with some guys just because of that?" June asked Pete. He was still laughing while Sandee and Thada just snickered at Pete who was glaring at them as if he could burn holes in their face
The next morning after their nights out, Thada had asked Pete at why he had swollen face and bruises on his hand. He was too focused on getting June and Sandee out of the club last night that he didn't even noticed Pete's sorry condition. Kao had to tell them the story behind it because Pete was too embarassed to tell them about it. He had a feeling that his friends would made fun of him and he was right. They did.
"You silly! You could've just ignore him and let him go away" Sandee said cackling. Her slender finger pushing on Pete's shoulder teasingly
"You are acting like a jealous wife!" Thada commented while shaking his head
Pete ignored them, fishing out his phone to distract himself from his annoying friends. He didn't see any wrongs in what he did.
Jealous? What jealous?! I was just protecting Kao!
He was assuring himself that the things he did was only an act of a friend helping another friend in need. He was sure that he would do the same if such things were to happen to his other friends.....right?
While Kao, he just kept quiet, grinning at how Sandee, June and Thada were teasing Pete. He was finding amusement in seeing how Pete get flustered at their teases. He found it funny how Pete's stony face turns red at their friends countless teasing. June who had finished laughing suddenly turned to Kao. His face had gone serious as both of his hand went to grip on Kao's shoulder. His palm then suddenly tapping on Kao's left cheek. The other three was now staring at June weirdly, curious at what June was gonna do after this
"With a face like this....." a sly smirk crept on June's lips
"I would've also want to fuck you if you were not my friend! HAHAHA" another booming laugh came from June as he saw Kao's eyes widen at the inappropriate words he's saying. Seeing Kao still hasn't recovered from the shock, June took the opportunity to do another shameless stuff. He suddenly leaned forward, pecking a small kiss on Kao's supple cheeks. A sudden gasp escaped from Kao's lips as his face turns bright red, embarassed at the thought of the people at the cafe watching them. This made June laugh even more. He was laughing even crazier than before now. He thought that Kao's reaction was too funny
"You!!!" Kao immediately stood up to chase June and give him some hard beating yet June had run away while poking out his tounge at Kao to rile him up even more.
"That stupid June" Sandee said while shaking his head
Kao just tsked and sat back down. Not bothering to waste his energy to chase after June. He could always get his revenge after this when he met June. His palm went to his cheeks, rubbing the place where June had kissed him earlier harshly. Suddenly feeling grossed out thinking that his own friend had kissed him. Feeling even repulsed thinking that it was June who did that
Kao didn't know that he was under Pete's scrutinizing gaze. Pete had been watching the scene that had played out in front of him far too closely and he was not happy. He could feel rage bubbling in his chest with a little mix of feeling he hadn't felt before. It was a feeling that was very foreign for him and he didn't understand it one bit. He was thankful that his friend's focus were not on him now because if they did, they could see Pete breathing like a mad man now. Pete was trying to control his temper. The cafe then suddenly fell quiet and he could see that all the attention were diverted on him. He suddenly feel nauseous
Did they know about what I was thinking?
He suddenly panicked. Scared that people would make fun and take advantage of the foreign feelings he's having right now but not until he saw a familiar figure wearing a uniform from the Arts Faculty standing in front of his seat. He was too deep in his confusion that he didn't realize that his ex girlfriend was standing in front of him. Hushed whispers came from the people in the cafe and Pete grew uncomfortable. He was annoyed
"I told you I dont want to see you did I not?" Pete snarled at the girl standing in front of him. Not caring if people were to bash him for talking rudely with a girl. Specifically their Uni goddess
Mint just rolled his eyes and crossed her hand over her chest.
"I'm not here to see you"
She then suddenly turned her head towards Kao. Her defensive hand that was crossing over her chest just now was latching its way towards Kao's arm making the man momentarily stunned. Kao stayed still, not knowing what to do as he felt that the situation were too awkward for him to do anything
"I'm here to see Kao" Mint said while giving Kao a sweet smile
Seeing how Mint was latching herself on Kao, the weird feeling suddenly came again. The feeling that he felt when he saw June and Kao just now and it made him even more confused.
"I need to talk to you. Alone" Mint said in a hushed tone but loud enough for Pete to hear
Kao looked between Pete and Mint and noticed that the tension between them both were too intense so Kao just nodded at Mint's request not wanting to make the situation there become even more awkward. Mint pulled at Kao's arm, leading him out from the cafe, away from everybody's watchful eyes
Pete stood up far too abruptly when he saw this. He went to chase the two but was stopped by Thada who was looking at them with worries.
"Where are you going?" Thada asked, his eyebrows knitted
"None of your business" Pete said while pulling his hand harshly from Thada and sauntered his way out of the cafe to find the two
"You better go and follow Pete" Sandee told Thada anxiously, sensing that Pete would somehow cause a ruckus. Thada just nodded and made his way out of the cafe as well, following Pete

"Why did you came here?" Kao finally asked after he is sure that no one is there to listen to their conversation
Mint gave Kao a deep sigh. Her hand that was latched on Kao's arm are now on her sides as she glanced at Kao guiltily
"I need to make sure of something" she said, suddenly walking towards Kao in a small step
"Huh?" Kao tilted in head in confusion while backing away
"What are you doing?" Kao asked in a panic tone when he felt that Mint was being too close for his comfort. Mint's arm was suddenly wrapped around his waist and the other was around his neck. He could feel her breath far too close to his likings
What is she doing?!
"Sorry" Mint gave him one last guilty gaze before he felt a moist warm sensation on his lips
Mint was kissing him!
Damn! What's with people kissing me today?!
It all happened far too quickly for Kao to process that he didn't even have the time to react and avoid Mint's bold sudden move
Pete on the other hand, who had been searching for them like a mad man suddenly saw red when he saw the scene played in front of him. Mint was kissing Kao! Kao was kissing Mint! Watching this made all the temper that he has been holding since just now to break lose as he run towards them. His mind was full of murder intent already. He didn't know why is he so mad, so furious, so angry. It worsen his confusion. His heart suddenly feel hurt. He pulled those two away from each other. Pushing Mint away from Kao, not caring if the girl fell on the floor.
"Pete...." Kao went to explain but Pete suddenly threw a punch at him
Pete didn't know why he did that. Looking at Kao's face made him feel cheated. Remembering back the scene just now messed with his mind that he can't even think straight. He suddenly feel guilty when he saw that Kao was clutching onto his cheeks. Streaks of tears were on his eyes. He suddenly feel like embracing Kao, telling him he didn't mean it and he was sorry but yet again when he looked over at Mint's face he grew angry, so furious that he want to hurt people even more
"Pete..." Kao tried once more
"SHUT UP!" Pete suddenly yelled at him making Kao flinched. Kao's sad voice distracted his mind even more
"Shouldn't you asked about what happened first?!! Why are you assuming things?!! She kissed-" Kao tried to explain
"GO AWAY!" Pete yelled again shutting him up
"Pete..."
"I SAID GO AWAY!" Pete was about to raise his hand again when he was suddenly pulled back by someone from behind. It was Thada
"Pete!! Calm down!!" Thada said while holding Pete
Thada looked over at Kao and saw that tears were already pooling on Kao's eyes. His right hand were still clutching on his cheek while Mint just stay rooted on the cold floor. Looking at that, Thada could already grasp at what had happened between the three of them
"Mint, I think you should go back" Thada said, glancing down to look at the girl
"but-"
"I said. Go. Home" Thada said sternly. It was a tone that he rarely use. A tone that rarely came from the usually laidback Thada. Hearing Thada using this tone meant that he was really pissed and annoyed
Mint suddenly got scared and stood up hurriedly. Giving Kao one last sorry and guilty look while walking away with a small smile. In her head, she thought that Pete got jealous that she kissed Kao. Her mind was convinced that Pete still likes her.
On the other hand, Thada switched his gaze towards Kao, suddenly taking pity in Kao's condition. His eyes soften as he looked over at Kao
"I think you should also go home Kao. Take a rest for the day" Thada said softly, his hand still holding onto Pete's rigid body, scared that the boy would do something reckless again
Kao just nodded and walked away and somehow Pete saw Kao gave him a hurt and disappointed look. He suddenly want to pull at Kao's hands, wanting to make him stay and make things right but he can't bring himself to do that. He was too clouded by his ego and his rage so he ended up watching Kao leave while ignoring the throbbing pain in his heart.
"Leave me alone" Pete said coldly as he pulled his hands away from Thada's grip after he saw that Kao was gone from his sight.
Thada could only sigh as he watch the hot tempered man leave the scene as he pulled out his phone from his pants pocket, calling Sandee to tell her what had happened
That night, Pete couldn't sleep. No matter how much he tossed around his bed, he still couldn't sleep. His mind was full of thoughts. His heart was confused and he was restless. He can't sleep over the fact that he had hurt Kao. He was guilty. He can't sleep over the reason why is he feeling this way? Why is he mad? didn't he broke up with Mint already so why is he still mad? He couldn't understand his feelings. It was all jumbling up.
Maybe I still like Mint. He came to a logic conclusion
Yes that must be it
He assure himself yet he was still questioning it. That night, Pete didn't sleep. He was still awake until 3 am as he took out his phone to text someone
To: Mint
Meet me tommorow

Btw i never thought that my college would be on lockdown. My sem got extended for a month hahaha wow its both good and bad news for me. Bad cus i really wanna go home alr yet im still stuck here in my dorm for a month, Good cus i got more time to revise hehe. So i think during the first week of lockdown period, im gonna write and the second week im gonna study hehe
