Balancing work and family in a competitive society like Jennie lives in is difficult. Especially as somebody in a high position. Although even small part time workers have it hard to take care of their family while doing jobs where they might not earn as much, yet spend a lot of time for.
The amount of times she had to leave Jisu home alone with a babysitter were not few. At least this time Jisoo assured her to look after her with her utmost attention.
"She sleeps at eight, food is in the fridge, remind her to do her homework, read her a bedtime--"
"Jennie I got this." She dropped her hands on the brunette's shoulders who seemed out of breath. "Seriously, you already wrote each and every detail of what I have to do down. You even made a PowerPoint presentation and yes I did take additional notes."
Jennie stared at her for a few seconds longer than necessary with her feline eyes. It's something she did a lot lately.
"If something, anything happens, call me." Jennie stated firmly.
"Understood." Jisoo smiled and planted a kiss on her left cheek.
"I'm no baby." Jisu chirped up. They had to look below to see her.
"You are." Jennie bent down and pulled her in her arms.
"Nooo.." Jisu whined. "I'm almost seven years old..."
"Right. Such an old granny." Jennie giggled and showered her with kisses all over her soft face.
Jisu didn't struggle against her but she did stop her at one point because she could miss her flight.
They bid farewells and Jennie moved to her chauffeur who was waiting downstairs. He drove her to the airport and carried her luggages.
"Taehyung." Jennie called. "You are early."
The golden haired man leaned against the concrete wall as he waited for her outside. "The early bird catches the worm." He mumbled, putting his hands in his suits pockets.
He was looking nervous for some reason and when Jennie heard another voice she understood why.
"Yo Nini!" Her ex grinned at her, showing up out of nowhere. "Ready to travel together?"
"Um what?" She fixed a glare at Taehyung.
"..I told him he was supposed to go with the public plane but he said he lost his tickets." Taehyung cleared his throat.
"Is that so? How did you lose them?" Jennie questioned.
"It was raining and the wind kinda stole them from me. By the time I catched up it was completely soaked." Jimin sighed. "I'm such a klutz." He pouted.
Jennie rolled her eyes. "Fine. You can sit in the back."
He happily entered her private jet and took the first seat he saw.
"I said in the bac-- Never mind. I'll sit in the back." Jennie huffed and went all the way to the other side.
"Then you'll be all alone." Jimin called. "Isn't that boring? Play cards with me and Tae."
"Pass. I'm sleeping." Taehyung crossed his arms and let his body sink into his seat as he closed his eyes.
"So just me and you?" Jimin asked Jennie.
The brunette put Airpods in her ear and ignored his voice before she leaned her cheek against the window.
Jennie survived the day without interacting with Jimin. Only when they got in touch with their business partner, she had to interchange words with him. He was acting mature and more motivated than what Jisu told him he was like with her. It confused her but maybe he just had a bad day.
Once everything was settled she hurried into her hotel room to open her phone and use facetime.
The other line responded and accepted her call right away.
"Hi there." Jisoo smiled. "You look relieved?"
"Well yeah. Everything went smoothly and I barely had to look at Jimin." The lawyer informed her. "So how are you two doing?"
"Oh us?" Jisoo turned the phone around. "Lia say hi to your mom."
"Hi mommy." She waved to the camera. Apparently she was busy playing with Jisoo's dog.
"Is that Dalgom?" Jennie questioned. She hasn't met him yet because he was sick and Jisoo's parents nursed him since they had many pets and knew exactly what to do.
"Yup." Jisu carried the maltese to the screen. "Cute right? Remember when you said you would get me a puppy too?"
"Ah right. I did say that." Jennie pondered. "One day in the near future."
"How about tomorrow?" Jisu urged. "Look how cute he is!" She made a show of cuddling him and getting him to smile. His tongue stuck out adorably.
"He never smiles like this with me." Jisoo raised her eyebrows.
"Fine. We can adopt a dog when I'm back." Jennie gave in. "However, the dog will be your responsibility. Can you handle that?"
"Yes!" Jisu said immediately.
Jennie thought it was a good idea to make her look after the dog. It's going to teach her some lessons and build her confidence as well as empathy. That way she'll know what it's like to have a living being rely on her.
"You are going to have a brother." Jisu told Dalgom.
The elders eyes went wide before they softened almost simultaneously.
Jennie told them goodnight and rested the night away because of her jet lag.
At about 5 am there were knocks on her door. She shuffled awake.
"It's me Jimin."
The guy behind the door muttered loud enough for Jennie to hear him but not loud enough for people in other rooms to think he was a strange person.
Jennie rubbed her eyes and walked to the door in her pyjamas. "What is it?"
"I was wondering if you want to watch the sunrise with me?" He questioned as the door was opened slightly.
"Why don't you go and take Taehyung instead?" Jennie rolled her eyes.
"Because I'd rather be with you." He looked into her brown wavering eyes.
"Listen, I'm not interested-"
"As friends is fine." He shrugged but something in his tone told Jennie he had ulterior motives.
"I'm tired." She mumbled. "Sorry but I have to pass."
She tried to close the door but his foot prevented it.
"You are still mad at me, aren't you? Of course you are. I left you. The ship has sailed. I'm too late." A frown crossed his face. He gripped on the door. "But I can feel that there is still something between us even if you don't admit."
"The only remaining connection between us is Julia. Whom you apparently didn't pay much attention to on the boat?" The brunette arched a brow.
"Ah. My bad. I was kinda sad cause you didn't come with us. I'll make it up to the sweetheart." He scratched the back of his neck.
"No Jimin. Kids pick up on your emotions quickly. When you are sad, they are sad. You are not to show them that side of you." Jennie pointed a finger to him. "You just have to swallow it and show them your brightest smile."
Jimin stepped closer, his lips inching towards Jennie's.
She frowned and backed away, unintentionally giving him the chance to enter.
"Leave." She said grumpily.
"You are so hot when you are angry." He hummed in delight.
"And you are being creepy so let me say it again, leave now."
One moment he is nice, the next moment he knows no boundaries.
She glared as he didn't move. "If you don't leave I will file a restraining order."
"There's no need for that." He took a step closer and grabbed her shoulders, preventing her from running away. His warm breath hit her face, the smell wasn't pleasant, he reeked of alcohol.
"I will scream." She warned him.
"Let's move to the bedroom then-"
She slapped him hard across his face and pushed him out before locking the door quickly with trembling hands.
A restraining order it is. Better safe than sorry.
