3rd November 1916
Dearest Love,
I am afraid I have to start this letter with some
terrible news that I wish I wasn't even writing to you.
Grayson has died. He was shot in France and it happened
about 3 weeks ago but we are only finding it out now.
I know that he will be with mum, which he is will be happy about
because he did take losing mum the hardest.
I am so sorry that I have to write this to you.
I can't believe that he has gone. George might have to be coming
home as he was also shot. We don't know where but all we know is
that he was with Grayson when he died. Dad said he is trying to
find out as much as he can. He was the one who wrote this letter to me.
Christian is still underground so we won't hear from him. Alexander is ok,
he is still flying high in the sky. He is trying to get home for Christmas.
I hope that you are ok and you are well. I am praying for you and I know
in God hearts that soon you will be allowed to come home. I have to be faithful
and I have to have hope as it's how I keep on going.
However I must say that I do have some good news. I know that you might be
annoyed with what i have done but after the week I have. I just discussed to do it.
I have allowed Robin to get a dog. She is a German Shepard called Piper.
She is the most adorable little thing, she is very cheeky but I am so happy to have her.
I know that this letter has been a bittersweet thing but I feel like
that is what life is. A bittersweet thing. I am always praying for you
to come home and I love you with my whole heart.

Maggie is the younger of 5 siblings and has 4 older brothers.
George and Grayson are both Lance Corporal.
Alexander is a pilot and Christian is the oldest and he a tunneller.
Their dad is a Sergeant and their mum died a few years back.
