It was two days later when the power came back on. Immediately mom rushed the wolf pups to her office, followed by Foster who has been helping with them since day one.
Since the power was out mom couldn't do anything to help the pups. We've just been keeping them warm and feeding them formula.
Eight days later, we were able to return the three grey pups to their mother.
The grey one is still having trouble breathing. And the red one broke it's back legs, so it's still healing.
Mom thinks that they might not be able to return to the habitat at all. That they might have to be raised as pets.
I tried once, a few days ago to heal them, using my magic. But I just couldn't make it work.
Finally on the twelfth day since the storm, we were finally able to go into town.
Mom said it was time to bring the others. She sent Keanu, Royale, Copper, Belle and Arielle to go get the Grey's.
And she sent me, Penny, Milo, Keni and Killian to get the Loss's.
"They live in a small house by the life guard tower. Check their house first. Their guardian Becket should be there. If they aren't, he can point you in the right direction. Remember, they likely don't know anything. So be gentle. Just invite them over for dinner. And Kailani, you might get dizzy again. Just fight through it. Okay?" Mom said from the doorway of the Attic.
I nodded as I slipped on a white button up crop top and a pair of shorts over my swimsuit.
Earlier mom had taught me how to put my wings away, and even enchanted all of my clothes to not rip when they come out. I don't like have my wings away, it feels more natural to have them out. But I don't want to scare the Loss's.
"Does this look normal? I mean I don't want to seem out of place. If I'm swimming then it won't seem strange. Right?" I asked mom as I put my hair up in a ponytail.
"You're over thinking this. Just tell them the truth. You're new here and you're having a house party. Foster and Conner are coming over later to help me set up." Mom said smiling.
I nodded. "Okay. I'm ready to go. I think." I said smiling.
"Okay. I think everyone is downstairs waiting." Mom said heading downstairs.
I followed after her and sighed. "What if I mess this up?" I asked quitely, flashing mom a frown.
"You'll be fine. Don't doubt yourself. And your friends will be there to help." Mom said reassuringly.
"Hey Kailani. You ready to go?" Penny asked. I glanced at her in her pretty violet sundress and nodded. "Yup. Let's go."
Penny and I met up with the others at Milo's Jeep. "Ready?" I asked Milo. He glanced up from his phone and smiled. "Yup. All good. You?" He asked.
Over the last few days we've gotten really close. Almost as close as Penny and I. Basically best friends.
"Yep. I'm great. Did you bring a pair of swimming clothes?" I asked as I got in the passenger seat.
"I'm not much of a swimmer." He laughed.
"Aw. Too bad. Guess I'll just swim alone." I said pouting.
"I'll swim with you Lani." Killian said mocking his brother. I hated that he used that nickname but ignored it.
Penny smiled. "Me and her just got really pretty swimsuits too." She said. "They are totally hot." She added smirking at me. "I hope one of the loss kids are cute. Right Kailani?" She asked giggling.
Keni laughed. Loudly. "Oh please, my sister has never dated anyone. Let alone have a crush. I doubt that will change anytime soon."
Milo chuckled and sent me a small half smile.
I blushed and rolled my eyes.
"You never know. Maybe she just hasn't met the right person yet." Penny said shrugging.
"Or the right Illyraian." Killian added winking at me jokingly.
Milo glanced at me and frowned slightly.
"Can we like stop talking about my love life?" I asked groaning ad we pulled up to the public beach.
"Or lack of." Keni joked.
"Whatever. Let's just go see Beckett Loss." I said quickly hopping out of the Jeep.
"It's supposed to be right over here." Milo said leading us to a small trail, that led to a tiny house.
I hesitantly reached up and knocked on the door.
When a tall, dark skinned man opened the door- loudly. I jumped back and bumped into Milo. He gently wrapped his arm around my waist to stop me from falling off the porch. I sighed, instantly relaxing.
"Hello. Are you Beckett Loss?" Milo asked politely.
The man grunted. "Wrong house. He lives in the next one over." He said before slamming the door in our faces.
"Wow. Okay. Rude." Keni snapped before walking down the steps.
I went to follow but, Milo's arm made it difficult.
"Uh." I whispered tapping his arm gently. I glanced up at him, to see him staring down at me with a distant look.
"Oh. Sorry." He muttered releasing me.
"You okay?" I asked frowning at him.
"Yeah. I'm good. Let's go." He said following the others.
I frowned as I trailed behind him.
Something was clearly bothering him, but I dropped it. For now, because we reached the next house.
Everyone moved aside as I knocked.
"Hello?" A large man said as he opened the door.
"Hi. We are looking for Beckett Loss?" I said politely.
The man glanced at us all. Pausing briefly on Killian, Penny and I.
"Of course your Royal Highnesses. Please come in." He said bowing.
I held back a sigh and entered the house.
"I wasn't aware of any other Royals living on the island, besides Queen Penelope. When did you arrive?" Becket asked heading into the kitchen.
"Uh I got here last month." I said quickly.
"We moved here about three months ago." Killian said glancing at Milo and me.
"And actually, now all five Royal families are together. My older brother has gone to bring the last family to our house. Nani, my mom. I mean my guardian said that we need to start training to return to Amarantus. She wants us to bring you and your charges back to our house. She fears for you safety if you stay alone." I said reciting the speech mom gave me.
Becket listened and then nods. "Alright. I'll quickly pack things up and head to your house. My children are at the beach. The boys are working right now. They won't get off until five." He explained standing up.
"That's fine. We wanted to swim a bit anyways." I said smiling.
"They don't.. uh I haven't told them anything about their history." He said with a small sigh.
"We are only inviting them to a party. You can explain everything to them later." Milo said reassuringly.
Becket nodded. "Okay. I'll see you later. Will around six work?" He asked.
I nodded as we exited the house.
"That was easier then I thought." Keni said as we retraced our steps to the beach.
"Yeah. And now we can go swimming!" Penny cheered.
Milo laughed. "I'll catch up with you guys." He said before heading to his Jeep.
"Oh shoot. I need to go put my phone in the car. I don't want it getting wet or something." I lied quickly before following Milo.
"Hey. What's wrong?" I asked him when I reached the car.
He sighed. "Nothing. I just don't feel like swimming." He said not looking at me.
"I can tell you're lying. I have like a super power. I can tell when people are upset, hurt it angry. Basically I can just feel others emotions." I said as I climbed into the passenger seat, Turing sideways so I can watch him.
"It's nothing Kailani. Just drop it." He said shaking his head.
I frowned deeper when he called me by my real name, and not the nickname he gave me.
"Please don't push me away." I whispered.
I thought about what could have changed his mood. "Is this about what Killian said?" I asked confused.
Milo sighed and finally turned towards me. "Yes. No. I mean kinda. You're going to be Queen. I'm not royal blood. You should be with someone who is equal to your status." He said quitely. "Someone who would make a good King some day. You probably have some arranged marriage waiting for you." He added.
I shook my head. "First of all. I'm not a queen. I don't want to be Queen. I'm going to find a way out of it. Secondly if I can't find a way out, and I have to be Queen, no one. And I mean no one can tell me who I will date or even marry. And lastly, I don't care about status. And neither should you. Your father was a knight. And he married a princess. I doubt anyone would care about your status." I said grabbing his hand. "I'm only nineteen. I'm not planning on getting married for a while. So if I want to date someone I will. And no one will tell me I can't." I added smiling at him.
Milo was quiet for a minute. "So you want to date me?" He asked smirking.
I rolled my eyes. "I meant in general."
He laughed, but then went serious again. He intertwined our fingers together. "I really like you. I literally can't imagine being with anyone else. I don't know how to explain it. It's like an ache when your not around. I find myself constantly looking for you, even when I know your not around." He admitted quitely.
I looked down at our hands and smiled. "I feel the same way. You explained it better then I could have though." I admitted glancing up at him.
"Really? That's good to know." He said squeezing my hand.
"We can't date though." I whispered and then cringed at the hurt look on his face.
"What? Why not?" He asked frowning.
"We have to focus on training. And I'm almost positive that my brothers will be constantly joking about us and goofing off. We just can't risk any distractions right now." I explained squeezing his hand.
Milo laughed and nodded. "Killian too. Probably even Belle and Arielle. I understand.. but I don't think I can keep my distance." He said giving me a half smile.
"I never said you would have to distance yourself. We just can't show any PDA, or do anything that would distract the team. All they need to know is that we're friends." I said before smirking at him. "Really good friends." I added.
"So if we're alone?" He asked smirking as he leaned closer.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I've never been in a relationship before. So I'm not really sure what's normal. Hell I've never even kissed anyone before. So like I want to take it slow. If that's okay." I said blinking up at him.
He laughed. "That's not a problem. I don't want to push you to do anything you're not ready for. This is all new to me too." He smiled. "So does this mean we are dating in secret?" He asked.
"I guess so. I mean if that's what you want." I said blushing a bright red.
Milo reached over and brushed a piece of my hair behind my ear. "I couldn't ask for anything more." He whispered.
I smiled. "Okay good. Now that that's all settled, we should catch up with the others. We still have a mission to finish, and I really want to swim." I said chuckling.
Milo laughed. "Yeah. Let's go. I want to see your totally hot swimsuit." He said repeating Penny's words form earlier.
"Oh. Too bad your not swimming." I teased getting out of the car.
Milo chuckled "I might have a pair of shorts in the trunk." He said opening the Jeep's back door.
I smiled. "Really? That easy? I thought you aren't one to swim?" I chuckled.
"I just won't go deep. I can at least get my feet wet." He said pulling out a pair of black shorts.
"Are you scared of water?" I asked tilting my head to the side.
"I don't know how to swim." Milo admitted shrugging his shoulders and started walking towards the beach. "My parents were always busy with my younger siblings to really teach me."
"Oh. That makes sense. You know, I wouldn't mind teaching you." I said smiling. "I really like swimming, and water. It would be nice to take the time to teach you. And you never know, it might be necessary in Amarantus. Mom said the water kingdom is underwater." I rambled, suddenly worried he might get offended.
Milo laughed and grabbed my hand. "You're cute when you ramble. I would love for you to teach me. Just not today. With the others around. We can sneak away later or something. Okay?" He asked. When I nodded he continued. "I'm going to go change. I'll meet you at the water." He said pointing to the bathrooms.
I nodded and headed to where I saw the others.
"Yay! We waited for you until we got in the water." Penny said excitedly when she saw me.
"Oh you didn't have to." I said smiling. I glanced towards the bathrooms where Milo was. I frowned when I saw him talking to some blonde girl. He laughed and placed his hand on her shoulder.
I felt a sharp feeling, almost like pain in my chest.
He wouldn't be flirting with a girl right after we started dating. Right?
I shook my head and looked away. Ignoring the strange feeling.
"Let's swim." I chuckled slipping my top and shorts off to reveal a slim black two piece.
I glanced at Penny's matching pink suit and smiled.
I walked into the water until it met my waist and smiled. Water has always been so peaceful. I couldn't help but wonder how it would feel to breath underwater.
The Loss's are so lucky.
I sighed and glanced away from the beach, staring out at the seemingly never ending water.
I felt someone come up beside me and I frowned.
"Hi." Milo whispered, reaching out to hold my hand. But I pulled away and frowned at him.
"What's wrong?" He asked confused.
"Nothing." I said immediately. Before sighing. "I just.. I saw you talking to that pretty girl." I admitted.
"Pretty girl?" Milo asked narrowing his blue eyes.
"The blonde one. Outside the bathroom." I sighed crossing my arm, gently holding myself.
"Oh the one that asked me out to dinner." Milo said scratching his neck.
"Oh." I mumbled looking down at the water.
"I said no. I told her I have a girlfriend." He said smirking at me.
I blushed and smiled a little. "Oh. Okay."
"Were you.. Jealous?" Milo asked quitely.
"Pfft. No. Of course not." I mumbled.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer. Not to close, just to where our arms were brushing.
"You almost sounded believable." He chuckled.
I pushed him gently and moved away. Closer to the rest of the group.
"Whoa. Milo's swimming?" Killian asked gasping at his brother. "How'd you do that?" He asked me.
"Do what?" I asked frowning.
"Convince him. He's never said yes when I've asked him."
I shrugged. "I didn't do anything."
Killian didn't look convinced but shrugged.
"Do you guys want to play a game?" Penny asked excitedly.
"What game?" Milo asked moving closer to us. He stood behind me and I held my breath.
"Marco Polo?" Keni asked smiling.
"I'm game." I said playing with the water. Twirling my hand around in it.
"Okay. Not it!" Penny shouted.
"Not it!" I said second. Followed my Killian and Keni.
"Damn." Milo said laughing.
"Okay. Count to ten, everyone else don't go to deep. Stay up to your waist. There's a drop off a little farther out." I said before Milo closed his eyes.
"One. Two." I swam away before he got any farther.
"Ten!" Milo shouted. "Marco!"
I quitely swam up behind him. "Polo." I whispered running my hand gently over his back before diving away.
Milo shivered and chuckled. "Marco."
He caught Penny by the ankle and then it was her turn. She tagged Keni, who then tagged me.
"Marco." I said loudly. I only heard three polos and frowned.
"Marco." I said again before turning towards the closest voice. Penny.
Just before I was about to tag her, hands shot out of the water and grabbed me by the waist.
I screamed in shock as they pulled me out of the water. "Milo. Put me down." I said laughing.
"Put you down?" Milo asked. "Okay." He said before tossing me into the water.
When I resurfaced I glared at him, fixing my soaking wet hair. "Oh really?" I asked. I quickly glanced around to make sure there weren't any humans around before located my light, the glowing silver orb inside of me that holds my magic. I pulled it into my hands.
I may not have water magic, but I definitely have air magic.
I pushed my hands towards Milo and had the air push him gently under the water.
He came up laughing. "Magic? Really?" He asked. "You have to use magic to get your payback? Oh yeah. Your too short to actually use force." He joked.
I glanced at the others and saw that they started playing again. I smirked at him as I slowly walked closer to him. "I don't need my magic. I just like using it." I whispered blinking up at him.
He smiled down at me. "Suree."
I placed a hand on his (Nicely defined) chest and stood on my toe tips. I leaned closer, liking my lips. Which drew his attention to them. "I'm sorry." I whispered. His eyes squinted in confusion before widening in shock a split second before I swept my leg behind his and pushed his chest. Causing him to fall backwards into the water.
When he came out of the water I smiled. "Told you. I don't need magic." I said laughing.
Milo chuckled and I held my hand out to help him stand up.
"That was a nasty trick. But good job. Just uh, don't use it on others." He said smirking.
I laughed and shook my head. "I left my water bottle in the car. Using my magic makes me really dehydrated. I'll be right back." I said to the others.
I quickly rushed to the car and grabbed my metal water bottle before heading back to the beach.
I didn't see the person in front of me until it was too late and we both crashed to the ground.
"Shit. Sorry. I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" I said turning to see who I'm bumped into.
"Yeah I'm fine. I shouldn't have been just standing there." I pretty girl with long brown hair and hazel eyes said standing up. She smiled and offered me her hand. "I'm Fate." She said helping me up. As soon as I touched her hand I felt dizzy and nearly fell back down. I shook my head and pushed the feeling away.
I smiled when I realized she was a the Loss girl. "I'm Kailani, you know I'm throwing a party tonight. Please come so I can properly apologize for knocking you over." I said chuckling a bit.
Fate laughed. "I would love to. I'll have to talk to my dad first." She said smiling.
"Of course. Please invite him too. Me, my mom and my brothers just moved here and are wanting to meet some new friends." I lied smoothly.
"Oh. I have two older brothers and a younger sister. Can they come too?" She asked pointing to the Life Guard Tower.
"Of course. But can I meet them first? Properly invite them?" I asked smiling.
"Sure. It's almost the end of their shifts anyways. Follow me." Fate said.
"Actually, let me just tell my friends where I'll be. Don't want them to think I've been kidnapped or anything." I joked, pointing out the group.
"Oh sure. I'll wait for you." She said smiling.
I quickly went back to the others.
"I met Fate. And invited her to the party. I'm going to meet her siblings now. I'll be right back." I quickly explained.
"Do you want me to come with?" Milo asked worried.
"No. I'm fine. They shouldn't be dangerous." I said smiling at him.
He nodded but still looked worried.
"I'll be back in like ten minutes. If I'm not you can come check on me. Okay?" I asked him gently.
He nodded and I went back to Fate.
"Alright. Sorry my friends are super protective." I said laughing.
Fate laughed. "I completely understand. My brothers are horribly protective." She said as she led me to the top of the tower.
"Hey guys! This is Kailani, she invited us to a party tonight!" She said happily.
Another girl came over, also with brown hair just a shorter style and the same hazel eyes. "Really? That's so cool!" She cheered.
"What kind of of party?" A boy with shirt brown hair and a slight stubble asked suspiciously.
"Just a house warming party. My family just moved here and we don't know anyone. Mom thought a party would be a great way to meet people." I answered with a shrug.
"Oh who cares? It's a party. Everyone loves party's." Another boy said. This one with short black hair. "Tell me Kailani. Will there be good music? Free food? And fun people?" He asked placing his arm over my shoulder. "What about cute boys?" He added winking.
"Yes, yes, yes and no. I don't think so. I mean technically yes. But none that are on your team." I said chuckling. "That I know of anyways."
Fate and her sister laughed.
"Well damn. Oh well, I'll still go. A party is a party." He said with a smile. "We are going to be best friends." He said laughing.
"So you already know Fate. The pixie looking girl is Faye, the brooding one is Oliver. And I'm Bellamy. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said kissing my hand.
I laughed. "The pleasure is all mine." I said as I heard the door open. I turned and to see Milo frowning at me, more specificly my hand that Bellamy is will holding and he then turn around, slamming the door behind him.
"Was that your boyfriend?" Faye asked frowning.
"Uh no. Just my friend." I answered looking at the door.
"Seems very jealous for just a friend." Bellamy said smiling.
"He's just protective. I should actually go check on him. Please come tonight!" I said before leaving the building.
I looked towards where I left my friends, but didn't see him. I frowned and glanced around.
I finally spotted him walking the opposite way.
"Milo!" I called trying to catch up with him. When he didn't stop I groaned in annoyance. I called up my power and used it to stop him mid step.
I quickly caught up with him and smiled. "I'm getting good at using the air." I said before glancing at the frown on his face. "Right. Not the time."
"What's wrong?" I asked frowning at him. I let go of the air around his feet.
"Nothing." He muttered as he kept walking. This time I was able to keep up with him.
"You're lying. Again." I sighed. "Are you mad that I went alone? Or something?" I asked frowning at him.
He stopped and turned towards me, running a hand through his short black hair.
"Did you only go alone, because you wanted to flirt?" He asked narrowing his blue eyes.
"Flirt? What are you even talking about?" I asked glaring at him.
"It's my pleasure." He mocked.
"Are you serious?" I asked frowning at him. "Yeah. I'm totally gonna flirt with someone barely an hour after I got upset when I thought you were flirting. Get your head out of your ass." I snapped, pushing his shoulders.
"Well that's what it seems like." Milo snapped back.
"Then you clearly don't know me." I said shaking my head. "I'll be at the car. Tell the others it's time to go." I said willing my wings to appear.
"He's gay. Just so you know." I added before shooting up into the blue sky. I sighed and flied over to the Jeep.
I debated just flying home. But I'm just wearing my swimsuit and it's cold in the air.
I sighed and leaned against the car. Waiting for the others.
When they showed up I sat quitely in the passenger seat. Arms crossed and eyes narrowed.
"So what pissed you off?" Killian asked, but I just glared at him before returning my eyes out the window.
I stayed silent for the whole fifteen minute drive. When we pulled up to the house I slipped my shirt and shorts back on, thanked Penny for grabbing them and asked Keni to tell mom that I would be be in, in a few minutes. And then shot up into the sky.
I groaned in annoyance when I realized I didn't have anywhere to go.
I sighed and went to the roof. I cocooned myself within my large wings. It wasn't cold like, the first time I sat here. I just like the safe feeling it gave me.
"I'm sorry." Milo said siting next to me. "I don't like fighting." He added frowning.
I just shrugged and stared out at the blue sky as it slowly started to get darker.
"Lani please. I'm sorry. I got jealous and wasn't thinking straight. Please don't stay mad at me." He said quitely as he gently nudged me.
I glanced at him and we held eye contact for a minute and I felt his sadness and guilt.
"I'm not mad." I said forcing a smile. "I'm just hurt. You saw how upset I was when I saw you just talking to the girl. Why would you think I'd turn around a flirt with someone else?" I asked him frowning.
Milo sighed. "I'm just stupid. I saw you standing there, him holding your hand and instantly thought worst case scenario." He spoke quitely. Staring down at the ground below us. "I felt this pain in my chest and I just couldn't think anymore." He added frowning at himself.
I smiled a little and Milo noticed. "What? Why are you smiling?" He asked confused.
"I felt the same thing when I saw you talking to the girl." I admitted shyly.
Milo chuckled. "I guess we're both the jealous type."
"I guess so. We definitely have to learn to control that. I don't want to fight again." I whispered the last part, glancing up at him.
"We will. Eventually. This is all new to us. It will take time to learn how to act normal." He said gently.
I willed my wings away and placed my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry I snapped at you. And that I shoved you." I whispered.
He kissed the top of my head. "I'm sorry I was an ass." He whispered back. "Are we good?" He asked.
I nodded. "Yeah we're good." I said wrapping my arms around him.
He sighed in relief and wrapped his arms around my back.
We sat there quitely for a few minutes. Just holding each other.
"We have to go inside soon. The Loss's will be here soon." I said pouting.
"First day we get a break from training will you spend the day with me?" He asked gently.
"Yeah. Sure. There's a movie Penny and I want to see. It will be totally fun." I said smiling.
"No I mean. Just me and you." He said chuckling.
"Oh you mean like a date?" I asked blushing a bright red.
"Yes like a date." He laughed. "I can tell the others that I need to check the plane or something. And you can just tell them that you want to be alone. That's normal for you." He teased.
I pushed him. "That's rude. Now I'm not sure I want to go." I muttered shaking my head.
He placed his hand under my chin and moved my head so I was looking at him. "Please go on a date with me Lani." He whispered. I glanced up at his blue eyes and nodded. "Okay. But only because you said please." I teased smiling up at him.
He laughed. "Come on. We should go." He said squeezing me gently before releasing me.
I pouted and sighed. "I can't wait until this is all over." I said opening my wings.
"Me too Lani. Me too." Milo said as he dropped to the ground.
I took a deep breath before following him.
As I went to enter the door a car started to drive up the driveway.
"Someone's here!" I called into the house. I turned to anxiously watch the car.
"Who is it?" Milo asked appearing behind me.
"I can't tell. And I don't recognize the car." I muttered narrowing my eyes.
"Oh that's just the Grey's." Keanu said appearing beside Milo and I.
"Oh. Okay. My bad. Didn't mean to panic." I said hiding behind my hair in embarrassment.
Milo gently caressed my back and I sighed. Instantly relaxing. "It's good to be alert." He said smiling.
I leaned back against him as Keanu went to meet the baby blue beetle.
"I'm nervous. This is the last family. Then everyone's powers will be unlocked and we will start training." I said bitting my lip anxiously.
"It's okay. I'm nervous too. But we'll get though everything together. Right?" He whispered calmly into my ear.
I nodded. "Together."
-
Not long after the Grey's showed up, the Loss's arrived. Mom wasted no time in taking the two families into her office. Milo and I waited in the living room with the others.
Everyone was to nervous to talk. So we just say silently. About twenty minutes later Becket exited the office. "Can I get some help moving our things in?"
Keanu, Royale and Copper all went to help him. Right after they left, the Grey's and Loss's exited mom office.
I instantly jumped off the couch. "Hi. I'm Kailani. It's nice to meet you." I said offering them my hand.
"I'm Ty. I'm guessing you only want to shake my hand to unlock my powers?" The middle Grey asked.
I hesitated. "I mean kinda. But I was also just trying to be polite." I muttered frowning.
"I'm just messing with you." He laughed shaking my hand.
I instantly felt dizzy and fell backwards towards the couch.
"Shit. That's worst then last time." I muttered as Milo caught me.
"Are you okay?" He asked frowning.
I nodded and then groaned. Penny, Killian, Fate and Ty all echoed my noise.
"Nani!" Belle called as the four of them collapsed to the floor.
"What the hell is going on?" The oldest Grey asked as he held his little brother.
Mom rushed out of her office, quickly followed by Ruby. "What happened?" Mom asked.
"They all groaned in pain and then collapsed." Milo explained holding me close.
"Oh okay. Everyone put them on a couch or chair. Make them comfortable." Mom instructed as she raced back to her office.
Milo pulled me over the the couch and sat down with me on his lap, leaning against his chest.
I smiled lazily up at him. "You're cute when you're worried." I whispered.
He laughed and shook his head.
Mom returned, with her med kit and checked all of us. "It's the block on their powers. It's slowly fading. They will be fine in a few hours. Just let them rest." Mom said sighing in relief.
Milo nodded and went to move. "Please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone right now." I whispered placing my hand on his cheek, feeling his slight stubble rub my palm.
"I won't leave you. Ever." He whispered back. He took a blanket from mom and covered us both up. "Go to sleep Princess." He whispered, kissing my forehead.
I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tight.
I smiled at him as my eyes slowly closed and I fell into a peaceful sleep.
