1.2 The Evidence!
While Francheska and her man, Luther Zach thinks they had the silence they always wanted, an unexpected one happened.
A man with a suit approached the two who's having fun for the first time in their entire relationship, and ask Francheska her name. Maybe for the man with a suit, this is just the same scenario in his everyday life as his profession requires, but for Francheska, this is the thing she feared the most.
"Are you Francheska Marsha?" The man out of the blue asks.
Francheska, after hearing the man's voice, suddenly trembled with fear. A cold wind shivered down her spine, as if someone intentionally blew some cold wind in her whole body.
"Y-yes, w-why do you ask?" She answered with her trembling voice.
"I would like to ask you a few questions about the incident that happened ten years ago." Without hesitation and consideration of how the woman would feel, the man with a suit responded.
"Whoa! Wait!" Angrily, Luther Zach interrupted them. "You just popped out of nowhere and disturbed our quiet time together then you just say those damn things? Come on!"
"I think I already got my confirmation based on how you reacted, Mr. Matthews. I just need to ask her a few questions." The man in the suit calmly responded.
"No! We will never say anything. She's not the right person you should ask. She never saw anything, nor witnessed any crime ten years ago!" Says Luther Zach.
The man in the suit slightly laughed and answered Luther in a very calm and irritating tone.
"No one said anything about the crime that she witnessed though. All I say is I would ask few questions about the crime. You don't want her to answer but you kept giving me the right answer I am looking for." Says the man in a suit smirking.
Luther Zach was enraged and was about to approach the man with a raging fist. But Francheska stopped him.
"Hey baby, no! Don't let your anger consume you. Punching him will do us no good." Francheska convinced him.
"This asshole's just saying what he wanted to say! I want to do the same thing to him!" He shouted. But Francheska kept on stopping him and hugged him so that the worst will never happen.
"I like your spirit boy!" The man mocked Luther. "I am Robert Marco, a federal agent, feel free to call me if you finally changed your mind." The man reached a small card to Francheska and walked away.
Luther snatched the card in the hands of her girl and attempted to tear it in half. But Francheska stopped him again and convinced him of something.
"Please, don't tear this card. I will talk to you about something." She said.
Luther said nothing and just waited for what her girl will say. But instead, the girl pulled her all the way back to their flat.
"Hey, wait. I thought you will talk to me about something." Luther finally talked when he saw their building.
"Yes, and I want to talk to you about it in private." She said.
They reached their home sweet home and she offered her man a drink. She waited until her man is already calm and started pulling out the calling card the man with a suit gave.
"Why are you showing me that?" Luther Zach asked her.
"This may be the answer to all my prayers, Zach. I don't know how they knew that I witnessed that crime for ten years..." Luther Zach stopped her, covering her mouth.
"Shhhh! You should not tell that out loud. You never know someone might be listening!" He said.
Francheska who is already crying nodded on what her man said. She carefully removed her man's hand from her mouth.
"I-I just think that if I testify against that man ten years ago, this nightmare that is hunting me will go to jail with him." She said sobbing.
"W-what are you talking about, baby? You're just putting yourself in danger! No! I will never approve any of this!"
Luther thinks that if her girl testified about that crime ten years ago, his girl's entire life would be in hell. Because even if the man she saw in the crime scene is thrown in prison, that doesn't stop him to haunt Francheska.
Francheska kept convincing her man, but it seems that he will never be convinced, knowing all the risks if she testifies.
"How can you even prove your word? Testifying is not enough, it will never put him in jail. You will only put your life in danger!" He said as if he's shouting, but he is actually whispering.
Francheska stood up and gone to her room. Luther thought that she just walked out of their conversation. He held his face as if he's washing it. But after a few seconds, his girl came back.
"What is that?" He asked, asking for the thing his girl is holding.
"The evidence!" She whispered.
Luther Zach was shocked by what he heard. He snatched the flash drive in his woman's arm and looked at it in an amused face.
"Wh-where did you get this. I-I mean, you told me that after seeing the whole crime, you just ran away. But how did you managed to have this kind of evidence?!" His voice is now trembling.
They are already living in the same roof for 6 years, but this is the first time she saw her man trembled with fear.
Who will not tremble in fear, right? This whole thing is damn serious. After ten years, an FBI agent suddenly showed, evidence suddenly popped up. He never knew about all this, how can he accept all that is happening in just one day?
"Y-yes, that is true. B-but 7 years ago, I don't know why. But someone sent me this thing. There is no address of the sender, but only my address. I was thinking to throw it, but then, I think twice. I also did not tell you about it because I know you will not hesitate to destroy it. And now, maybe my decision was right!" She answered.
"S-still. T-this is not right. You will still be putting your life in danger! Throwing him in jail won't stop him to haunt you!" His voice is still trembling.
She hugged him tight and said. "But you'll still always be there for me, right? It is now or never, baby. Please, support me just this once."
He hugged her tight and reminisced the past. The promises he made. 'it is now or never!' He thought.
"I will, I will always be here for you baby." He said, and this time, the trembling in his voice is already gone.
Francheska smiled with comfort. She knows that her man will never disappoint her. She knows the truthfulness of her man's voice. She knows that it is full of sincerity.
"Alright," He said. "I will allow you to testify, but we will first have our countermeasure just in case."
"What do you mean?"
"Like what you said, it is now or never. Even if the case is a success, baby, we still should not let our guard down.
"I will ask him to make me one of them so that I can fully protect you on my own!"
