It's been two days since Yin and Yang came to terms with losing Black, Black was so weak and shaky he couldn't even get up anymore, Yang was outside watering plants as the sun started going down, Yin ran outside in a panic.
"Yang!" Yin shouted as he tackled him. "Where's Black?"
Yang was confused. "Isn't he inside next to the couch?" Yang asked.
Yin looked scared. "He's gone!" Yin shouted as he ran off. "I gotta find him!"
Yang got up as Yin disappeared within the trees, Yang just got back to watering plants, figuring Black wandered off to pass somewhere by himself. As time went on, Yin finally came back without Black, he was crying heavily, Yang looked at him in worry.
"Is everything alright?" Yang asked.
"I couldn't find him anywhere!" Yin cried. "I can even sense him anymore!"
"Yin." Yang said as he pulled him into a gentle hug. "I think he passed away somewhere."
"I just wanted to make sure he passed peacefully." Yin sobbed quietly as he leaned on Yang's shoulder.
"I know, I wish I would've been there too." Yang agreed.
"You should head to bed." Yin sniffled as he wiped his face with his hoof.
"Will you be okay?" Yang asked.
"I'll be okay." Yin said as he went over to the couch and sat down.
Yang looked to the stairs, then looked back to Yin, he walked over and sat next to Yin and leaned on his shoulder.
"I'll sleep next to you tonight." Yang said.
Yin didn't complain as Yang sat with him until he fell asleep, Yin was quiet as he looked at the empty spot where Black used to be, he sighed softly as he looked up slightly.
"If you can hear me, please make sure Black passed easily." He whispered.
It was quiet all night, when dawn came, Yang woke up to see Yin was making breakfast.
"Morning." Yin said without looking at Yang.
"Are you alright?" Yang asked as he walked over.
"I'm okay." Yin replied.
"Are you sure?" Yang asked.
"I'm sure." Yin agreed.
Yang was quiet as Yin kept cooking, after nearly a week passed, Yin went out to deal with a mare that was nearing death, so he went out to find her on a cliff, she looked upset.
"Hello." Yin greeted.
She looked over quickly and huffed. "What are you doing here?" She asked angrily.
"You're on the death list." Yin replied.
She looked even angrier. "You're not the Pony of Death!" She shouted.
"The Pony of Death is gone." Yin said.
"No, he's not!" The mare shouted.
She went to jump off the cliff when she was grabbed by Yang's magic, she was kicking and screaming as Yang brought her over to Yin and himself.
"Please, you have to understand." Yang started.
"No, you don't understand!" The mare shouted. "I want the Pony of Death!"
"He passed away at some point." Yin said. "He's gone."
"No, he's not!" The mare shouted as she broke free from Yang's magic.
She ran for the cliff and jumped off, Yin and Yang didn't have time to react as she fell to her death, suddenly, she was lifted back up the cliff by dark aura magic, she glared at Yin angrily.
"Quit trying to save me!" She shouted at Yin.
"He didn't, I did." A stallion said.
Yin and Yang looked over quickly to see Black Death walking over, he had his cutie mark back with his long hair, he walked up to the mare and looked at her.
"You have my attention now." Death said.
The mare began crying heavily as she leaned on Death's shoulder, he gently nuzzled her and shushed her.
"It's alright, everything is fine." Death cooed softly. "I'm not mad about this."
"I really need help!" The mare sobbed loudly.
"Let's take a walk and chat, if your mind isn't changed, then I will reap you." Death said calmly.
The mare agreed as she began to follow Death down the mountain, she looked back to see Yin and Yang were still following, she huffed as she stopped. Death looked at her to see what she was doing, then he looked to Yin and Yang, they were both stunned because this was the first time, he looked back and forth for a minute.
"Is it still Yin and Yang?" Death asked.
Yin's heart sank slightly. "Yes." The mare replied.
Death sighed as he looked down. "You two go home, I'll answer questions when I get home." He said.
Yin and Yang didn't question as they went home, Yang decided to go back to sleep until Death came back.
The door flung open after an hour. "And that's how I got Gladstone stuck in the tree without him knowing!" Rose shouted happily as she bounced in, Death was following her quietly.
"I have so many questions that can't be answered." Death said.
"Nope~!" Rose smiled happily.
"So, where are they?" Death asked as he looked around.
"Right there!" Rose pointed as Yin woke Yang.
Death sat on the floor in front of them, he then looked at Rose.
"I still can't interact with them, that's why I had to bring you with me." Death said.
"Okidokie!" Rose agreed as she sat next to Death.
"Okay, I'm ready for questions, but only one at a time." Death said. "We'll start with Yin."
"What happened to you?" Yin asked.
"He's wondering what happened with you." Rose translated.
"I was given a second chance with my job." Death replied.
"Are you okay?" Yang asked.
"He's just fine." Rose replied.
"Was he asking if I was okay?" Death asked.
"Yup!" Rose replied.
"Why did you give up your cutie mark?" Yin asked.
"He gave it up to separate you!" Rose replied.
"Oh, is that what he was asking?" Death asked.
"Yuppers." Rose agreed.
Death sighed slightly. "I knew for a fact you two would have killed each other if I didn't do something about it, I've tried to talk to you multiple times, but you kept brushing it off and telling me not to mention it again." He said.
Yin and Yang looked at each other, then looked back at Death.
"We're sorry, do you forgive our stubbornness?" Yang asked.
"Yang's asking if you forgive their dumbness." Rose said.
"Of course." Death replied.
"Anything else?" Rose asked.
"Will Death be able to go back to normal?" Yin asked quickly.
Rose looked at Death. "Will you be going back to interacting with them?" She asked.
"In time." Death replied. "I'm not sure how long it would take, but I should be able to."
"Is there any way we can interact with you in the meantime?" Yang asked.
"Is there something they can do until then?" Rose asked.
"We'll have to experiment, but I'll be sure to let you know what works." Death replied.
"Then we don't have any more questions." Yang said as he got up and left.
"I still have a question." Yin started. "Does he remember everything from before?"
"Yin's wondering if you remember what you did before." Rose said.
"I mostly do, it's slowly coming back to me." Death replied, he then let out a quiet sigh. "Rose, you can go now, I have work to do."
"Okay, bye!" Rose said as she jumped through a window.
Death was quiet as he stared for a moment. "Not the oddest thing I've ever seen in my lifespan." He said as he got up and went through a portal.
