It was the next morning after we all got together at Ruel's house. There was a lot going around in my head, things got kind of intense. I don't really know how I feel and I have no idea if that actually meant anything to either of us. I had to admit, that kiss wasn't nothing. I know we both obviously have some feelings towards each other, but I don't know what to do with that.
Before I get way too into my head I get out of bed to get ready for school. I go to my dresser to pick out my clothes, as I pass my mirror something catches my eye.
I thought it was just a bruise I got in my sleep some how but I quickly realized that it wasn't just a bruise, I had a huge hickey on the side of my neck. I mentally freak out realizing that my parents could've seen it when I came home last night. Although they did seem focused on other things, hopefully I was in the clear. I tried to cover the hickey with a bunch of concealer and to help hide it a bit more I left my hair down.
For some reason I was nervous about going to school, or more specifically facing Ruel at school. After our whole makeout thing I don't know how to act around him.
I went throughout the day as I usually do, it was nothing special. That was until I actually had a class with Ruel. I quietly sat down next to him while he was distracted from talking to his friend behind him. Then the bell rang so he turned around and noticed me.
"Oh hey, I didn't even hear you sit down." Ruel says then flashes me a warm smile
"Yea I'm just tired." I say before resting my head on my arms
"Me too, it's kind of just one of those days."
"Mhm." I said muffled by my arms
"Wait what's that?" Ruel says confused
"What's what?" I say sitting up
"Thi- oH." Ruel cuts himself off still leaving me confused
Ruel whisper shouts into my ear "it was that big?! Damn!"
I then realize he's talking about the hickey HE gave me. "Yea jUst a little bit. This is your fault ya know." I reply
"Oops." He blushes
"I mean I'm lowkey proud though, that's some good work." He smirks to himself before I smack his chest
"Ruel!"
"Ok guys listen up!" Our teacher Ms. Anderson spoke cutting Ruel and I's conversation off
"Today will be a pretty laid back day. I still don't want to see phones out, but this should be fun anyways." She said handing out sheets of blank paper
"What I want you and your partner to do is to draw each other. I want you to label what you see them as, but please be respectful. Other than that there are no limits." She smiles and gestures us to get started
"Ya know other than singing, my biggest talent is definitely art." Ruel says with a smug glance towards me
"Oh is it?" I ask sarcastically as I start drawing Ruel as a stick figure on my paper
He chuckles "oh yea for sure, I could easily be Bob Ross ."
"Maybe, but I think I'm way better than you." I say with wink
He gasps "are you challenging me?"
I simply shrug with a sly smirk on my face and continue my drawing
"Ok, bet." Ruel says before going back to his own drawing
After a few minutes of drawing we both show each other our papers and we immediately burst into laughter.
"Why do I have such a long body?!" Ruel asks, still laughing
"Because! You're freakishly tall!"I reply
I take a look at his drawing of me"WhY do I look like I'm a cLown-"
"I wAs trying to draw youR smile because I liKe your smilE!" He teased
"You know what, it's the thought that counts." I laugh
"Whatever, I still think mines better." He shakes his head
"Wait ok before i forget, I wanna ask you something." Ruel says immediately making me nervous
"Yea??"
"Tonight would you wanna go on like a real date? Cuz technically those first two weren't super official. Unless they were to you, then they can be dates. But like you don't have to g-" Ruel rambles On nervously before I cut him off
"Ruel! Chill, I'd be happy to go on a date with you." I reply with a small smile
"Really?!" He says excitedly
"Er yEa no that's cool, I was thinking we could go to the amusement park? Unless you don't like rollercoasters then forget it, we can just watch movies at my place."
"I'm low key scared of rollercoasters but what the hell, I'm down." I reply with a small laugh
Later that night I went home and got ready for Ruel and I's date. I know I should be nervous, but I really wasn't. It's easy for me to talk to him and he makes me feel comfortable, I love that about him.
For my outfit I just picked out a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I had about 10 minutes until Ruel was gonna pick me up so I decided to put on a little bit of makeup. Nothing too much but just enough to not only cover my under eyes but the hickey. Someday I'll get his smug ass back.
Around 7:00 Ruel picked me up and we drove to the park. The car ride was filled with us screaming song lyrics to any song that came on and us laughing at ourselves. It was already a fun night.
We got to the park and got our wristbands before heading off to our first ride. Ruel seemed pretty chill but I was kind of freaking out inside, it wasn't terrible but I really haven't gone to an amusement park in forever.
"Ok I think we should go on the tilt-a-whirl first, you down?" Ruel asks me reaching for my hand to pull me a long
I simply nod in response and that's all it takes for him to grab my hand and start running towards the rides.
He took me by surprise making me squeal out loud "oH my god Ruel! Why are you u running-"
He cut me off "this way we don't waste time." He winks
We get to the tilt-a-whirl and we're forced to sit next to two other people so we're all kind of squished together. Once the ride started Ruel and I could not stop laughing and screaming for no reason. The people next to us looked at us like we were insane but I don't blame them.
We went on a few other rides after that but Ruel really wanted to go on a rollercoaster which I was kind of avoiding. I wasn't going to say no to him though, so here we were in line for the plunge.
Ruel senses I was nervous so he put his arm around me in attempt to comfort me. Which worked a little bit but my heart was still pounding out of my chest.
"Don't worry, I know you're nervous. This is a great way to get over your fear though, it's so much fun once you try it." Ruel says trying to calm me down
"Plus, if you want to you can hold onto me as much as you want. I don't mind." He winks then gives me a warm smile
We get on the ride and Ruel said he usually sits closest to the front but he knew I was nervous so instead we sat in the middle. The ride operator strapped us in tight and checked everyones locks. Seconds later the ride starts slowly, getting faster.
"Fuck fuck shit fuck fuck fuck." I mumbled under my breath as I squeezed my eyes shut
Ruel chuckled and grabbed my hand "you're fine, it's ok."
Right as he said that the ride plummeted to the bottom making me shriek at the top of my lungs. Ruel was doing the same but he was screaming because he was having fun. Slowly, I was getting there.
In the blink of an eye the ride was over, I was thankful it was but It was fun.
"So what's your verdict on rollercoasters now?" Ruel asks nudging me
I pretend to think for a second "I mean I guess they're ok." I joke knowing he knew I enjoyed it
"Yea I mean you seemed pretty into it but ok." He shrugged then laughed
"Oo wait hold up, while we're here I'm gonna use the bathroom real quick." Ruel said as we nearly walked past the bathrooms
"Ok I'll just wait here." I reply sitting down on a bench
Of course it was a bit of a wait because of the line so it would take a few minutes. I was just scrolling through my phone carelessly until someone sat down next to me.
"A bit of a long wait for a bathroom don't you think?" The guy asks trying to make conversation
It made me kind of uncomfortable but I want going to be rude "Yea I guess so." I laugh uncomfortably scooting over a bit
The guy scoots closer again before speaking "say, what's a pretty girl like you doing all alone at night? Hm?"
I shift uncomfortably "Um I'm just waiting for someone." I say
"A boyfriend I would assume?" He smirks
"Why do you care? Who are you?" I say raising my voice a bit
"Calm down princess, I was ju-" he tries to speak before I cut him off
"No! Do not call me that! I have no idea who the fuck you are, and I think I've made it clear that you're making me uncomfortable!" I say backing away from him
He rushes towards me grabbing both my wrists in one of his hands
"Stop!" I shout loudly hoping someone will hear me
"Don't run away from me! I just want to talk to you." He says
"Well I don't want to talk to you! Let me go!" I say trying to yank my hands free from him
"NO!" he shouts even louder, squeezing my wrists tighter making me wince in pain
"SHE SAID LEAVE HER ALONE WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK THAT MEANS?" I hear from behind me, instantly realizing it was Ruel
"This is none of your business go away!" The guy replies to Ruel not realizing he was the person I was waiting for
"ACTUALLY IT IS MY BUSINESS, LET HER GO OR I'M CALLING THE COPS!" Ruel said getting closer to the guy
After the guy heard that, he instantly let go of me and ran. The second he let go of me I broke down into tears, not knowing what to do. Ruel wrapped his arms around me holding me tight making me feel safe.
"I'm sorry, I should've just waited until I got home." Ruel sighed
I wipe a tear from my face and look up at him "you don't have to be sorry, it's not your fault. That guy's just an idiot."
"Still, I'm sorry." He said hugging me tighter
"Please don't be, let's just go home." I say with a soft smile
Ruel and I ended the night on a more positive note as we went to his house and ended up falling asleep on the couch....again.
