"hey, you ready to roll?" eddie asked as i nodded.
"yeah, let's get this son of a bitch." i strapped my badge to my hip, as we made our way out of her apartment.
upon walking out of the building, we saw jamie leaning up against the squad car.
"nice to see you two actually on time." jamie joked.
"jamie! that's no way to speak to your sister and future girlfriend." i tease him.
i noticed he got extremely red as he fake laughed.
"shut up." he mumbled.
"she got you there, harvard." i heard danny say as i shut my side of the door.
"yeah, she sure did." jamie rolled his eyes.
someone defensive this morning.
"sorry eddie. we just tease him about you a lot." she laughed as i spoke, waving it off.
"it's fine. i'm used to it now that we're friends." she smiled.
"i can't thank you so much for letting me and the baby stay with you this past week. i know it hasn't been easy."
"for my favorite two reagan's? anything."
"hey! what about me? your partner?" jamie asked, pretending to be offended.
"eh you're okay. your twin sister and her kid are cooler than you, partner." eddie winked at him.
"sorry jamie. i guess we know who's the cooler twin now." i shrug as he chuckled.
"hey, she just thinks you're cooler because you do facemasks, gossip, and you have the baby. i sat there and witnessed it all, i'm still the cool one here."
i couldn't help but laugh.
"if anything i'm the cool one. i actually got pressured into doing a facemask." danny commented as he drove. "and my wife could never get me to do it."
"he's right." eddie tells my brother. "he's the cooler reagan brother."
jamie chuckled in his seat, but i could tell a bing of jealousy hit him.
twin things.
"you talk to rafael?" danny then asked, in attempt to change the subject.
"yeah, he'll be there."
"good."
the rest ride to the court house was quiet on my part. the other three members in the car chit-chatted among themselves.
i was nervous. i honestly didn't know what was gonna come out of this.
i was just lucky that little joe was safe.
rafa and i thought it was best to leave the baby in nick's care, since he was up to testify on the case in the next few days and couldn't be in court until then.
he also had the day off.
when we asked him if he could take joe for the day, he didn't hesitate to say yes.
plus, if anything were to go wrong, he'd know with absolute certainty what to do. i was confident in that.
upon arriving, i saw liv, sonny, elliot, finn, and amanda standing outside the courthouse along with my sister and my husband.
"you guys don't have to be here, you know?" i tell my squad as they nodded.
"we know. but we're gonna be here anyway. you need the support especially after this whole ordeal that just occurred." liv replied as i couldn't help but hug her as a way of thanking her.
"how are you feeling?" erin asks, as i let out a breath i didn't know i was holding.
"nervous. let's just hope something good comes from this."
"it will, mi amor." rafa assures me.
"we gotta get inside or we're gonna be late." jamie then reminds us as i took a deep breath.
"i guess it's now or never then."

"detective reagan, you suffered significant injuries from the defendant, did you not?
"yes, i did."
"prior to suffering those injuries, what were you doing exactly?"
"detective carisi and i were giving a talk to nypd explorers."
"not working on a case?"
"we had a case against the defendant's gang going on, but we were not on it for that day."
"your sergeant took you off the case for the day?"
"she had received a request from high up that detective carisi and i step away from the case for that day in order to talk about gang and gun violence so we both decided to do it."
"high up meaning the commissioner's office?"
"yes."
"detective, when you were shot, you were walking with your partner to meet the explorers, correct?"
"yes."
"we had your doctor testify that you were shot in three places. is that correct?"
"yes."
"can you just tell me where?"
"once in the chest and twice in the abdomen."
"the doctor stated that you coded multiple times, is that correct?"
"yes."
"and the man that shot you is the defendant?"
"yes."
"how did you know?"
"during the time i was shot, the gang he's a part of us was, as we call it, cleaning out shop. a fellow gang member was stabbed in prison, a young girl that was pimped out by the gang was murdered, and i was shot as an attempt to also be killed since i was working so closely on the case."
"what kind of information?"
"a sex trafficking ring of young girls. they were being kidnapped and brought here before being forced to become working girls."
"how old were these girls?"
"they varied from 14 to 17."
"i see. but detective reagan, how do you know for certain that the man sitting here today is the man who shot you?"
"my partner on the assignment, detective dominick carisi, saw him flee the scene along with other witnesses. the gun that was found on him at the time of his arrest was confirmed to be the gun i was shot with."
"she's lying!"
"sit down before i hold you in contempt." the judge warned the defendant.
"detective, one last thing before you step down. i understand you and your family are currently in hiding."
"that would correct."
"may i ask why?"
"objection, relevance."
"i'm getting to it your honor."
"get to the point faster. you may answer the question, detective."
"the defendant issued a hit out on my husband, my son, and myself."
"yo, she's lying. how can anyone believe her?"
the people on his side started to yell more as the judge yelled kept yelling order. before i knew it, i heard four gunshots as some people in the courtroom yelled.
i had drawn my gun on the stand as several other officers had drew their weapons as everyone that didn't pretty much ducked.
as i stepped down, i realized the defendant had somehow gotten ahold of the court officers gun, pointing it at me.
"stop lying you bitch or i kill her." he said as he then pointed the gun towards the female court officer he was holding captive.
"put the gun down." i calmly said.
that's when he shot at the judge, who fell.
"not until you tell that jury that you're lying." he yelled.
he held the gun closer to her head before a gunshot went off and the bullet hit him straight into his forehead.
as i turned around, i saw eddie's gun smoke a bit from the bullet she just shot. you could tell in her face that she couldn't believe what she had just done.

after emts and ocme was called, along with other departments, they told us to head on home.
the minute rafael saw me step outside, he quickly made his way over to me and embraced me into his arms.
"are you okay?"
"yeah, yeah. i'm fine."
i kept my eyes closed as he whispered sweet things in my ear.
when i opened them, i spotted eddie.
i detached from my husband, making my way towards the blonde police officer as she just finished being questioned by iab.
i noticed they had taken her gun temporarily so it could be analyzed.
"eddie!"
she turned to me as i walked towards her.
"how are you doing?" i ask her as she shrugs.
"i'm okay. it was just a bad situation, but as long as you and everyone else is okay that's all the matters."
"first time?"
"killing someone? yeah."
"the first time is the worst, but you did what you had to. there was no other way."
"i know." she sighed. "i just wished i had access to his shoulder or his knee."
"we always do." i tell her. "i don't know how else i can thank you eddie. you saved lives today, including mine."
"after i finish mountains of paperwork, let me come and see that cute baby of yours and everything will be repaid."
"you got it." she smiled at my response as we all finally made our way out of the courthouse.
after bidding goodbye, she went into her and jamie's squad car, clearly needing a moment alone to process what had happened.
"text me when you're home. we'll stop by." jamie said as i nodded.
"will do. dad texted and said the rest of the family are coming too."
"sounds good." he replied as he turned to go to the squad car.
"hey jamie." i called out as my brother turned back around. "if you don't marry her, i'll find someone who will."
he rolled his eyes. "shut up, sis."
"make sure she's okay. you know it's not easy firing-."
"i know, i know." he interrupted before hugging me tightly. "love you sis. glad to see you safe."
"love you too."
i watched as he got into his squad car before driving off.
"hey," my husband said, pulling me out of my thoughts. "let's go get our baby and get on home."
"sounds like a plan to me." i smile before taking his hand as we walked towards the car, anxiously wanting to see our son.
