LEXIE WALKED UP THE CREEPY DRIVEWAY OF THE FAIRCHILD HOME, which was soon to be her home. she reluctantly walked up to the doors and knocked three times.
the creaky door opened to reveal an old woman,
"oh you must me lexie! come on in," the old woman greets nicely, lexie reluctantly stepped through the doors of the creepy house,
lexie looked around in awe at the size of the mansion, she glanced up seeing the eery mansion slowly deteriorating from age,
"where's my sister?" lexie asks as she still begins to look around the house speechless at the size of it,
the old lady thinks for a second before responding, "she must be in the kitchen, it's almost lunch!" she explains happily after she gestures for lexie to follow her,
lexie followed the creepy old woman with ease, she was off putting, certainly she was kind, but she just seemed weird,
after a bit of walking the old woman directed her to the kitchen, lexie quickly turned to the left and saw none other than the back of a blonde that she knew like the back of her hand,
"kate..." she breathes out, the last time she saw her sister was a long time ago, they have been very distant lately and she missed her more than ever,
the blonde whipped her head around to be faced with her little sister,
"oh my gosh!" kate says followed by a bunch of laughter before tears filled her icy eyes, she quickly ran over to her sister and brought her into a tight embrace,
the two sisters cried into each other's shoulders—-it had been far too long since they have seen each other,
kate felt bad for lexie... she hardly had anyone anymore, she never grew up with a father figure and now their mother had passed away,
kate felt guilty for not being able to offer lexie any better place to stay. kate wanted her sister to be safe, but she didn't even know if the fairchild home could offer that,
kate knew that she had to look after miles and keep him as far away from lexie as possible,
"how have you been?" kate asks as she pulls away from her little sister, she cupped her sisters face with her hands and a big smile on her face.
"i have been pretty good! besides leaving everyone, but i'm fine" lexie mutters the last part, she knew that she wasn't fine, but she needed to get her brave face on,
most seventeen year old girls were worrying about going to the mall and hanging out with friends, and well, lexie had become an orphan and had no home.
kate noticed the sad look on her face, it broke her heart, it truly did. kate wanted the best for her sister and she wanted to try her best to offer that,
lexie didn't even notice the stray tear escape her brown eyes, she never cried, especially not in front of anyone,
"hey, hey it's okay..." kate says as she wipes the tear out from under lexie's eye, "...it will be okay" kate corrects herself,
kate brought her into another hug, lexie had to muster up all of her strength to not break down crying, but she just had to keep telling herself it would all be okay,
kate and lexie were broken apart from their heartfelt moment when they heard a small voice from beneath them,
"hi i'm flora, nice to meet you!"
lexie spun around and glanced down to be faced with a small brunette who stood beneath her with a small arm gestured out to shake,
lexie had to admit, she was beautifully adorable, she knew that she was going to grow up into a beautiful young woman.
lexie quickly wiped her tears before kneeling down to be eye-level with the small girl,
"hi there! i'm lexie!" the girl says with a smile as she shakes flora's small hand,
"are you kate's sister?" flora asks—-tilting her head to the right slightly, lexie smiled and nodded her head yes,
flora's eyes lit up in excitement, "so you will be living with us?!" she asks happily, lexie nodded her head yes again,
flora started to happily jump up and down while spinning in a circle,
kate and lexie let out giggles as they watched the adorable girl dance around in excitement,
lexie began to gaze off and wonder why kate was so reluctant about her staying at the mansion, flora was adorable and didn't seem like a bother, but that was when lexie remembered...
it wasn't just flora, there was another kid, a boy named miles, but she just figured he was probably flora's evil twin brother or something.
as if it was like magic, lexie was broken out of her thoughts by a voice, an unfamiliar voice,
"hey flora have you seen my-" the girl begins to hear before she sees a tall curly haired boy stop his sentence as he made eye contact with lexie when he came into the kitchen,
he had to be one of the most beautiful people that lexie had ever scene, his black curls were so luscious, she desperately wanted to run her hand through them,
next, her gaze was brought down to his freckles, the way they were perfectly, yet, imperfectly scattered across his beautifully structured cheekbones,
he was truly beautiful
lexie and miles were cut off of their staring session when they heard someone clear their throat from around them,
it was kate,
miles face began to harden as he was brought back into reality, he gave a mean look at lexie before he brought his gaze back up to kate,
"who the hell is this?!" the boy angrily spat, lexie was taken aback at his rudeness,
she began to wonder how someone so beautiful could be so sickening on the inside,
"this is my sister lexie..." kate begins to say, "...remember when i told you she was going to be staying with us from now on, miles?" she continues through gritted teeth,
lexie felt her heart drop, THAT was miles——kate had never told her how old miles was, she didn't know that they were around the same age.
this is why kate didn't want her here, it all began to make sense after constant confusion arising over time.
"nope i really don't care about what you say" miles spat as he walked over to grab an apple from the fruit basket that was set on the counter.
lexie was in shock at the boys disrespect, she turned to face her sister, who clearly looked annoyed, she knew that she was trying not to lose her temper,
lexie had figured this was a reoccurring thing and miles and his disrespect towards kate must have been a constant problem in the past.
miles bit into his apple as he intensely stared at lexie, making her slightly uncomfortable,
which kate of course, noticed.
"why don't i show you your room lexie?" kate says as she claps her hands together, trying to break the forming tension in the room,
"yeah that would be gr-" lexie begins to say but she is cut off by a deep voice from the left of her,
"i mean... i could show her where her room" miles says with a smirk that practically screamed he was up to no good plastered across his face,
kate noticed this before instantly retorting, "no, no, no! i will show her where her room is, come on lex" kate quickly says as she grabs her little sisters wrist,
"but i thought you were finally going to do my painting project with me!" flora pouts as she looks at kate,
lexie instantly feels bad for the small child, sure she doesn't want to go with miles but if she was going to be living with him she was going to have to get used to it,
and also lexie lived by the same motto she always has since elementary school, that she can protect herself,
ever since they were little, kate has been protective over lexie always which was sweet but very annoying and repulsive at times,
"flora, honey i can help you with the project after i show lexie her room" kate sweetly says trying to compromise with the small child,
"but you promised that you would now!" the small girl continues to pout at the blonde,
a pang in lexie's heart suddenly makes note of itself, a promise. promises were always one of the most important things in lexie's life,
judging by the sudden silence of kate, lexie now knows that she really did promise that she would with flora,
"it's okay, miles can take me kate" lexie sweetly says, promises were very important and she didn't want to step in the way of that,
kate worryingly looks back and forth between lexie and miles, contemplating the decision,
miles still stayed propped up on the counter with the same smirk on his face with his half eaten apple in his hand mockingly,
"fine" she chokes out, lexie was excited to finally go to her room but a little frightened from the person who was escorting her to her room,
"alright follow me" miles says as he jumps off the counter, lexie could still feel the anxiety of kate radiating but she chose to ignore it and follow the tall boy.
'it can't be that bad, can it?' the teen thought to herself,
yes, yes it can.

after a few moments of walking, the two teens finally arrived at lexie's room,
"wow..." she says as she looks at it, miles just furrowed his brows at the girl,
"sorry if i was rude earlier" miles says towards the girl, she whipped her head around to face him with a smile on her face, "it's okay" she sweetly says,
but he doesn't smile back, no emotion was being shown on his face at all,
lexie stopped smiling at this and instantly became a bit freaked out at his lack of emotions all the time,
miles noticed this but still didn't change his facial position and remained it in the same off putting stare,
"i saw the way you were looking at me earlier" he intensely says, not breaking his previous eye contact with the girl,
lexie was taken aback at his sudden comment towards him,
"w-what?" she chokes out as she looks at him, the boy took a step closer to her before speaking,
"i just said, i saw the way you were looking at me earlier" he says, still not breaking the eye contact between the two,
"what do you mean?" lexie questions, becoming uncomfortable around him,
"oh... you know what i mean," he says as he continues to get closer to her before he was just inches away from her face,
"to be fair.." he says as he trails off, breaking the eye contact and looking at her body up and down before his eyes met hers once again,
he leaned close to her ear, making shivers run down her spine, she could feel his breathing in the side of her neck, and the thought of the them actually being this close,
was overwhelming to say the least,
"...you look sexy in those jeans" he seductively says before leaving her faster than light and turning around to exit the room,
he left in a split second, leaving lexie in complete awe of what just happened,
she was now beginning to see why kate was so cautious of miles around her, she knew it was going to be a challenge having to live with him,
but it was better than nothing, she was an orphan at this point and there was nothing she could do about it,
lexie let her back fall back and hit the bed, she stared up at the ceiling, this is what her life had become.
and it was only getting worse...

sorry that this takes so long to update, think of it as like a new season of a tv show coming out where it takes a bit longer but they come out with multiple chapters at once!
i'm making these chapters super long for the most part so that's why they take so long to make, especially because i get busy also!
i'm bummed right now though, it's snowing and i was praying that my school would have a snow day but of course we didn't :(
