A/N: Warning, there's blood in this chapter.
~
I kept my eyes on the ground, not daring to look at them. I knew what they were thinking. How stupid I was to believe all of the nonsense they spouted out.
If only I'd stayed, maybe Riku and Flara wouldn't become corrupted like this. Is this my fault? If only I didn't put my pride before my friends, maybe things wouldn't have turned out like this.
I know more than anyone, that this is my fault. This is my fault I didn't stop Flara and Riku from becoming like this. If I were here to spend time with them, would they have turned to the darkness like this?
"Why?" I grieved.
"Why what?" Flara spat.
"Why have you become like this?" I said, wiping my tears and standing up, looking Flara right in the eyes.
"You wouldn't understand. You wouldn't ever understand," she hissed, making me flinch.
"If I had stayed 5 years ago, would you have still done this?" I asked, my voice quiet.
"That's none of your business. Stop speaking to me as if I'm still your friend," Flara ordered, a small red light forming in her hand.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, picking my sword back up.
"What are you sorry for? Surely, you would hate me by now," Flara scoffed.
"I could never hate you, Flara," I confessed, infusing all of my magic into my sword.
My comment made Flara gasp slightly, and she broke eye contact with me. Riku stepped forward.
"Enough talking. This ends here. Goodbye Y/N-"
Suddenly, a red glowing blade impaled Riku in the chest, causing him to stop and fall, revealing a pale man standing behind him with a disgusted glare on his face.
He was extremely pale. His dark black hair was combed back, and his eyes were completely grey.
"One simple task. I asked for one simple task and it takes you this long to complete it? Forget it, you're useless to me. Flara, clean his body up," he barked.
Flara flinched and took a few steps back, her eyes wide with fear, the light that was once in them was now gone.
Her eyes were as hollow as her soul at this point.
"Flara!" he yelled, making her flinch even more.
"B-But sir-"
He looked over at her with a murderous glare.
"Do you want to end up as Riku did? Do what I say or else," he demands.
She quickly kneeled and grabbed Riku by his arms, pulling him against a tree, before coming back to stand beside the man.
He looked over at me.
"Flara. Kill her then extract Aileen's spirit from her, understood?" he asked.
Instead of answering, she held a large blade in her hand and held it up to her neck as she walked up to me and hugged me.
"If you had stayed 5 years ago, no, I wouldn't have done this, but I'm too far gone, Y/N. Forget about me. I'm sorry for everything," she whimpered.
"Please let us be friends again in our next lives," she sobbed into my body.
She parted from me and smiled one last time before plunging the knife into her neck with blood leaking out everywhere.
Her limp body fell onto the floor with a loud thud. The area was now completely silent. The fires had died out. Not even nature was heard. It was dead silent.
One by one, my tears began to fall harder than ever before as I kept my eyes on the dead Flara in front of me.
I was too shocked to even form any words. All of my dear friends were murdered. Why did I have to be the last one alive? Why did this have to happen to me?
Jiho, the one who opened up my world to more people and things.
Rika, the one who introduced me to the beauty of life and people.
Riku, the one who supported me no matter what.
Flara, the one who encouraged and cheered for me.
And Jimin, the one who introduced me to what it feels like to love and be loved.
Without them, my world would've been dull.
I owe my life to all of them, yet I couldn't even protect them.
Now, they are all dead.
I don't know if I have the strength to fight the person before me.
The person who murdered them mercilessly.
But, I will try.
I will try my hardest.
Because that's what my friends did for me.
They tried their hardest for me.
Now, it's finally time to return all they've done for me.
What Flara said earlier was what I had always wanted too.
In all of our next lives, it would be nice to be friends again.
I stood up and faced him with a cold glare, my tears now dry.
I summoned my spirits and motioned for them to attack when I gave them the signal.
Aileen, I need you to lend me your strength. Please.
We will fight together, Y/N.
Yes, until the end of the world, we will always be together.
I readied myself and got into a battle stance, my spirits in front of me, forming a protective circle around me.
"It looks like you're ready now. Her soul will be mine," the man said, forming large red blades from his hands, seemingly from his blood.
I nodded at my spirits and they all dashed forward, each launching their most destructive spells.
As soon as they attacked, they disappeared due to lack of magic, so my spirits retreated to their realm.
Loud explosions filled the air along with debris flying everywhere.
I launched myself towards the man and infused all of mine and Aileen's magic into my blade, enlarging it. It glowed black and was larger than before.
I sliced the man's chest and side, but his wounds healed before any permanent damage was caused.
I attempted to attack again and was met with a red blade deflecting my attack, and I ended up getting hurt instead.
My arms were cut up and I could barely stand.
Don't give up now!
I straightened my posture and readied another attack, but I was thrown to the side by a force of some sort.
I spotted Riku's body and that only made me stronger.
Seeing his dead body made my adrenaline skyrocket and my thirst for revenge grew stronger.
The man suddenly appeared in front of me, and I blocked his attack with my sword, making a loud clanking sound. His sword dematerialized, and my sword went right through it.
His sword became liquid before suddenly becoming solid again, making my sword go under his.
Then, he slashed my chest with the opening he had on me.
"Give up already, girl. I've won this battle before it even started," he said.
I winced and looked up at him, a scowl on my face.
"Giving up is something I'd never do," I mumbled, picking my sword back up and charging at him once again.
He easily dodged me, and I ended up falling straight to the floor.
He chuckled and walked towards me, kneeling to meet my eyes.
"It's over for you, Kim Y/N."
Is this really the end for me...?
