*Long chapter ahead folks :) *
3rd person
Harry and Ron walked down the stairs towards the ball,
"Leave it alone," Harry says slapping Ron's hand away as he fiddled with his hideous dress robes.
"Poor kid, bet she's alone in her room crying her eyes out," Ron sighed
"Who?" Harry asked
"Hermione of course. Come on Harry, why'd you think she wouldn't tell us who she's coming with?" Ron replied.
"Because we'd take the mickey out of her if she did," Harry said.
"Because nobody asked her. I would have taken her myself if she weren't so bleeding proud," Ron explained as they approached the Patil twins.
"Hello, boys. Don't you look..." Pavarti trailed off looking at Ron
"Dashing," She ended.
"Here you are, Potter. Are you and Miss Patil ready?" Professor McGonagall came rushing over to Harry.
"Ready Professor?" Harry asked confused.
"To dance. It's traditional that the three champions or in this case four are the first to dance. Surely I told you that," She replied quickly. Harry shook his head
"No,"
"Oh well, now you know. Oh, as for your Mr Weasley you may proceed into the great hall with Miss Patil," McGonagall added looking towards Ron and his date. They sighed and headed into the ballroom leaving Harry and Pavarti by the stairs. Hermione poked her head around the corner and nervously bit her lip before smiling and heading gracefully down the stairs, her pink gown swishing effortlessly as she walked.
"She looks beautiful," Pavarti gasped as she watched Hermione. Harry turned around
"Yeah she does," He agreed, as Hermione reached the bottom of the stairs and curtsied to Krum who kissed her hand. She then giggled as she walked past them and gave them a small wave before entering the ballroom. Draco then walked over to her
"Granger, is Aurora coming down soon?"
"Yeah, she just forgot something she was right behind me," Hermione replied giving him a small smile and walking away. Draco let out a nervous breath and headed over to the stairs where Harry was.
"Malfoy," He greeted.
"Potter," Draco said back.
"Be nice you two," A voice said from behind them on the stairs, they both turned around to watch as Aurora made her way down. Draco's breath caught in his throat as he watched her descend, she blushed and smiled at him once she was at the bottom.
Aurora's POV
"Be nice you two," I said as I watched Draco and Harry, they both turned to see me and Harry smiled at me. I then looked to Draco who had his mouth open in surprise, I smiled and blushed at him once I reached them.
"Hi Harry," I said
"Hi, you look really pretty," He smiled.
"Thanks," I grinned. I then turned to Draco
"You alright?" I asked laughing at him
"Uh um yeah.." He finally choked out.
"Ready to go in?" He asked holding out his arm. I nodded and linked my arm with his.
"Be careful with her Malfoy," Harry said before we left. Draco looked back at him and nodded.
"Promise," He said smiling at me. Once we were in the ballroom I looked in wonder at the beautiful icy blue room.
"You looking absolutely stunning by the way," Draco pulled me out of my thoughts.
"You don't look too bad yourself," I blushed. Suddenly everyone began clapping as the champions walked in,
"Is that Hermione Granger? With Viktor Krum??" I heard Padma ask
"No. Absolutely not," Ron denied looking jealous. The music began to play as the champions began the dance. I stifled my laugh as Harry looked terrified.
"I had to teach him how to dance," I giggled still watching Harry fumbling but overall getting the dance.
"I hope you're better at dancing than he is," I said to Draco who was already looking at me
"I assure you I am much better," He laughed. Soon Dumbledore and McGonagall took to the floor, earning another round of applause.
"Well seeing as more people are now dancing, shall we?" Draco said holding his hand out for me to take. I smiled at him and placed my hand in his, I know this sounds cliche but there actually WAS an electric shock. The dance floor was soon filled with everyone dancing, girl's dresses swishing and an overall feeling of happiness washed over the room.
After a few dances, Draco went to go get us some drinks, Hermione came over walking quickly with a huge grin on her face
"Having fun?" I asked amused. She sighed happily
"Yes,"
"I'm glad," I grinned.
"What about you? Enjoying dancing with Draco?" She grinned cheekily. I blushed and looked down
"Yes, very much," I mumbled trying to contain my smile. Hermione let out a little squeal
"You two look so cute together, and I've never seen him smile so much. It's very odd," I rolled my eyes
"Here you go," Draco said walking back over and handing me a drink.
"Thank you," I smiled at him as he leant against a seat.
"Enjoying yourself Granger?" He asked politely making Hermione smirk at me
"Yes thank you. Are you?" She replied watching him for his answer. Draco looked to me and smiled
"Yes, I am,"
"Good, I'll see you later Rory," Hermione waved walking back over to Krum.
"I think that just maybe she doesn't hate you as much," I said sipping my drink.
"One down, two more to go," Draco laughed.
"Are you having fun?" Draco suddenly asked
"Yes, of course, I am, why?" He shrugged
"Well, there's a Durmstrang who's been watching you all night and so it just got me thinking that you might have wanted to go with someone else that's all," I looked over to where Draco was looking to see Tristan watching us.
"That's Tristan, he's a friend I guess. But no I wanted to go with you," I replied looking back to Draco who's face lit up again.
"Phew," he said nervously laughing.
"Awww were you worried," I said pinching his cheeks, shocked at myself I tried to contain the blush creeping up across my cheeks
"Shut up," Draco shook his head going pink. Just then the Weird Sisters were introduced and they began playing, the room went crazy, everyone was jumping around like mad.
"Feel up to dancing again?" I asked, Draco put his drink down and grabbed my hand pulling me once again onto the dancefloor. I laughed as he spun me around a few times before pulling me close to him again, he grinned goofily at me as we danced. I saw Hermione dancing with Krum and grinned cheekily at her and she blushed, poking her tongue out at me childishly. She and Krum then made their way over to us and Hermione grabbed me away from Draco making him pout
"Hey! She's my date," He protested, Hermione shrugged and spun me around with her. I felt my chest well up with ultimate giddiness as I danced around with my best friend. Krum then grabbed her again
"My turn," He smiled at me. I laughed and turned back to Draco to see him smiling at me
"What?" I asked as we began dancing again.
"I just don't know how I managed to get the prettiest date here," He admitted making me stumble a little.
"I...um what?" I laughed in disbelief.
"It's true," he shrugged seeming surprised at his own confidence.
"Well, then I suppose I should tell you that I did actually get asked by some other guys but turned them down because I wanted you to ask me," I confessed.
"Wait really?" he asked a grin forming on his face,
"Yeah really," I smiled back. The song ended and we turned and applauded the band along with the rest of the screaming fans. I laughed as the band took a bow and goofed around on stage, I then turned to Draco when I felt him shyly grab my hand I turned to him in shock before smiling and intertwining out fingers. He let out a breath he'd been holding and laughed.
"The enemy?? Who was it wanting his autograph? Besides, the whole point of the tournament is international magical cooperation, to make friends," I frowned and Draco and I turned to see Hermione looking incredibly upset with an angry-looking Ron.
"Here we go again," I mumbled.
"They fight often?" Draco asked. I nodded
"This will not end well believe me," I added.
"Hrmph, I think he's got a bit more than friendship on his mind," Ron hissed. We watched as Hermione looked close to tears and walked over to Krum who handed her a drink.
"Are you going to ask me to dance or not?" Ron's partner asked. He shook his head and she sighed before standing up and walking away.
"He's an idiot," I shook my head at Ron, who grumpily crossed his arms and glared towards Hermione.
We danced for a few more hours before our feet needed to rest. I flopped next to Draco into a seat and he brushed his hair out of his face.
"Heels are so annoying," I groaned.
"Haha, I don't have to wear them," Draco teased making me stick my tongue out at him. We sat and watched the rest of the people who were still dancing when we were disturbed by angry voices
" He's using you," We turned around to see Ron talking to Hermione
"How dare you! Besides I can take care of myself," Hermione defended
"Doubt it. He's way too old," Ron shook his head.
"What? What? That's what you think?" Hermione scoffed.
"Yeah, that is what I think,"
"You know the solution then don't you," Hermione said her eyes welling up with tears.
"Go on," Ron crossed his arms
"Next time there's a ball pluck up the courage and ask me before somebody else does, and not as a last resort," Hermione cried out.
"Well that's completely off the point," Ron's voice broke, I scowled and went to walk over when Draco grabbed my hand and pulled me back down next to him.
"Harry..." Ron sighed as Harry came over to them.
"Where have you been? Nevermind! Off to bed both of you," Hermione waved her hand angrily.
"They get scary when they're older," Ron said to Harry as they went to the stairs
"Ron you spoiled everything!" Hermione said finally letting her tears flow down her cheeks. I stood up as did Draco and we walked over to Hermione who was pulling her shoes off.
"He's a git," Draco said making Hermione look up in surprise.
"For once I agree with you," She choked out. I sat down next to her and put my arm over her shoulder and she leant into me and cried. Draco sat next to me and hung his hands loosely over his knees. A few minutes later I heard Hermione sniff and lift her head up.
"I've ruined your lovely evening, I'm sorry," She spoke her eyes red and puffy.
"No, Ron spoiled yours by being a complete dickhead and trust me he's going to get it next time I see him," I said narrowing my eyes
"Easy Rora," Draco laughed lightly placing his hand on my back making me go a little pink at the nickname.
"No, he's right. You don't need to do that," Hermione said smiling faintly at us.
"I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight and thank you," She then stood up and took a deep breath.
"You know, you might not be as bad as I thought you were," Hermione said to Draco before bidding us goodnight and walking up the stairs to our dorm.
"I told you she liked you," I smiled as we sat back down on the stairs.
"Which is surprising because I was really horrible to her," Draco said sadly.
"You should go make sure she's okay," I went to protest,
"It's fine, she's your best friend and she needs you right now," Draco said.
"I wouldn't want to leave you by yourself though," I replied, making him smile
"I'll go back to my common room. I don't want to dance with anyone but you anyway," I sighed and blushed again
"You've got to stop doing that," I whined laughing nervously. He shook his head
"Not a chance," he then stood up and held out his hand for me to help me up.
"Well, thank you for a lovely evening," I smiled and leaned towards him placing a kiss on his cheek. His eyes went wide
"Goodnight Draco," I smiled with pink cheeks.
"Goodnight Aurora," He smiled back, also with pink cheeks. I could feel him watching me as I climbed the stairs, I turned around to see him standing there with his hands in his pockets and eyes trained on me. He grinned at me and I waved before going around the corner, my heart pounding with excitement so loudly I thought the whole world could hear it.
( Honestly, I loved writing this so much! Sorry, it's taken so long for something to actually happen. There will be more trust me and it'll get better too)
