XYRA'S POV
I can't believe it.
"Xy?"
Paulit-ulit pa rin nagfflashback sa akin ang nakita ko.
"Uy, Xy?"
This is so awkward!
"Xyra Belloso! What's wrong with you?" I came back to my senses when I heard Bianx's voice grew louder. "Okay ka lang? Tulala ka."
"Ahh, okay lang." I replied in a calm voice.
"At ikaw, Kyle?" tanong ni Alex.
"Ha? Ahh, okay lang rin." simpleng sagot niya. Halata sa tono ng boses nya na pati sya ay naiilang. Di rin siya siguro maka-getover sa nangyari kanina. Hays! Kasi naman! Hindi naglolock ng pinto! Tanga lang.
"Ay nako ewan ko sa inyong dalawa! Did something happen?" -Bianx
"Uyy! Ano yan?" nanukso pa 'to si Pao.
"Wala." sabay naming sagot. Nagkatinginan pa pero mabilis rin naming inalis ang aming tingin sa isa't-isa. From the corner of my eyes, I saw them exhanged looks with each other. Duda na mga yan na may something. Never mind, tinuloy ko na lang ang pagkain ko. Sayang naman kung di ko mauubos, ang sarap ng mga menu sa restaurant ng hotel na ito.
After dinner, we decided to stroll outside the hotel. Sobrang excited na ako since first time kong makapunta sa Subic. All this time, akala ko swimming pools lang meron yun pala at the bakc of the hotel is a beach. Sa malayo pa lang, kitang-kita ko yung mga duyan na nakasabit sa bawat puno ng coconut. Yung mga torches na nagsisilbing ilaw at ang mga bonfire na nakapwesto sa may dalampasigan.
"Uhh! Ang ganda." sabi ni Rhian kay Pao na nakaakbay sa kanya.
"See. Tama ang napili namin ni Alex noh!" sabi naman ni Bianx. "Sige, guys. Maglalakad-lakad muna kami. See you at the bar..."
"9 pm, guys." dagdag ni Alex.
"Alright!" paalam ni Pao. Umalis sila ni Rhian, ewan kung saan pupunta. Yung tipong magsasalita pa lang ako pero tumalikod na silang lahat. Grabe! Naiwan na naman akong kasama si Kyle. Magiging ganito na lang ba scenario namin? Partner partner.
I started to walk away from him. I intende to walk by the shore and I hope wag na sya sumama pa sa akin. I'll go my own way and he'll go with his.
"Xy!" he called. I didn't turn to look at him.
"Xyra!"
"What!" I yelled back. This time turning around to look at him. He stopped a this tracks, catching his breath.
"Why are you so mad, Xy?" he asked calmly. I rolled my eyes. "It wasn't my mistake if the towel fell off my waist, is it?"
"Well..." I crossed my arms "If you've just locked the bathroom, I wouldn't have seen it!"
"Okay! I'm so sorry for that! Jeez, Xy. You're making a big fuss out of it. As if you hadn't seen mine before." My jaw dropped with what he said! I tried to voice out but nothing came out of it. I was deeply shocked!
"Urghhhhhhhhhhh!" I blurted and turned my back on him while stomping my feet. Damn him! Nagawa pa niyang sabihin yun? He's trying to bring up the past.
"Xy! I was just kidding!" he called out again.
"Oh, really! Very funny, dumbass!" I yelled back without turning. Bwiset! Subukan lang niyang lumapit sa akin mamaya. Baka masuntok ko na talaga siya! LECHE.

Lakad lang ako ng lakad hanggang sa nakahanap ako ng bakanteng duyan. Umupo muna ako sandali at chineck ang phone ko. Punta agad ako sa gallery at tiningnan mga past pictures kasama si Kersey. I miss my baby so much. Napapangiti na lang ako hanggang sa...nakita ko yung picture kasama si Miguel. It's the three of us. Me and Miguel carrying Kersey. Kamusta na kaya siya? I also miss him. Before I left U.S, he told me he'd be home by Christmas. I hope he'll keep his promise.
I was about to lock my phone when I received a call from...Miguel! Sa sobrang excitement, sinagot ko agad.
"Miguel!"
"That's so unusual of you to call me by name, love." he chuckled. Aw. There he goes again with his endearment.
"I miss you." I said.
"I miss you more, Xy. How's Kersey?" Ow, I forgot to tell him about this trip. I hope he doesn't get mad.
"Kersey's fine. Uhh, love. I forgot to tell you. I'm in Subic right now with Bianx and the others. Sorry." He became silent for a second. I hope he's not mad.
"Hmm. I see. Is...he with you?" he asked with hesitation. I know what he meant. I just can't answer him directly. And I don't why. But then I don't wanna lie to him.
"Yes." Finally, nasagot ko rin. "Umm. Are you still going home by Christmas?" I asked to break the awkwardness.
"About that...I'm not sure, Xy. Alam kong nagpromise ako but I have to finish a lot of things before Christmas. I'm waiting for my boss to sign my leave but he still wouldn't."
"It's...okay. Naiintindihan ko." I sighed.
"Okay. I love you. Always." I smiled.
"Love you too." I just couldn't say the word "I". But he never forced me to say it. Alam kong tapos na ang usapan namin kaya binaba ko na ang phone. Parang nadisappoint ata ako. I wanna see him, I wanna be with him so bad.
I layed on the hammock and swayed it a bit. I stared at the night sky examining the stars. It's been 2 years since I met Miguel in the U.S. I met him in the most unexpected way. Well, at night, I usually go out and buy frappe at my favorite coffee shop.
Tumatambay ako doon with my cousin. Pero nung gabi na yun, ako lang nag-punta. I usually order caramel frappe with a slice of blueberry cheesecake. Yun lang ang ginawa ko doon, kilalang-kilala na nga ako ng babae sa cashier. I even got a planner for completing 12 purchases of frappe! Mga bandang 7 pm, umalis na ako ng shop pabalik ng apartment. Along the way, may dancing fountain kasing madadaanan. Ang colorfur kaya na-attract naman ako. I took a picture of it. Naglakad na ako ulit habang tinitingnan yung shot sa phone ko nung...
"Watch out!" someone grabbed me from my waist, causing me to wrapped my arms around him. That's when I knew that a high-speeding bike was approaching me. Parang sasabog yata ang puso ko sa sobrang kaba! I almost got hit! "You better be careful next time!" the guy yelled to the boy.
"Sorry!" yelled the boy back .
"Are you okay?" tanong nung lalake sa akin. Still, nakayakap pa rin ako sa kanya. Dahan-dahan akong bumitaw at tiningnan siya. "Are you hurt?"
"N-no. I'm fine." I replied. He sighed expressing a sign of relief. "Next time, mag-ingat ka ha. Alam mo namang park ito, maraming mga bata." Aw! So he's a Filipino. Ngayon ko lang napagtanto. Mukhang Filipino naman talaga mukha nya eh. Fluent nga lang talaga mag-english.
"T-thank you." I uttered. Medyo kinakabahan pa ako. Gosh! I'm sure naramdaman nya yung bulge sa tiyan ko. Awkward.
"Okay lang. Doble ingat next time. Lalo na't meron ka nyan." his gazed went to my tummy. I know what he meant. I nodded.
And that's how it all started. That's how Miguel and I met. After months of getting to know each other, he confessed to me that he saw me a few times at the cafe. Whenever, I'm there, he's there. Sabi ko naman sa kanya, di ko siya napapansin. At sabi niya, yun nga ay dahil nakafocus lang daw ako sa pagcecellphone o pagbabasa ng libro o di kaya pagdungaw sa bintana. He even knows what I order all the time. He knows how I eat my cheesecake. Maliliit lang daw na slice na parang tiniitipid ko para di maubos agad. He knows how I sip my frappe. Ini-straw ko daw muna ang whip cream. Na-amazed ako sa kanya. He's very observant.
Nagkamabutihan kami ni Miguel. He never left my side. Even on the day, I gave birth to Kersey, he was there beside me at the delivery room. He held my hand so tight. Daddy na daddy ang dating niya. That was so romantic of him, kissing me on my forehead and whispering I love you the moment Kersey got out.
I miss Miguel. I miss his touch, his hugs and kisses, his hand holding mine. I feel so safe whenever he's around. But Migue's not around. How am I supposed to cope with that? I really miss him.
"BULAGA!" Napatayo ako sa duyan sa gulat!
"Bwiset ka! Bulyaw ko sa kanya!" Tangina talaga! Hayop! Hayop! Grabe ang ang halakhak niya.
"HAHAHA! Hanggang ngayon ba naman? Magugulatin ka pa rin?" Sabay tawa niya ulit. Peste ka! Grabe ang kalabog ng dibdib ko.
"Wala ka talagang magawa sa buhay mo noh?! Leche ka!" Take advantage ang gago kahit kailan! Ramdam kung nag-iinit ang mukha't tenga ko sa galit. Nati-trigger ang pagiging alien ko! TInanggal ko ang tsinelas ko't binato ko sa kanya. Naiwasanan niya yun at nasalo pa niya.
"Oopss! Missed it!" patawa-tawa pa siya. Binato ko ulit isa kong tsinelas. This time, todo effort na sa pagbato. Pero nakailag pa rin siya nasalo niya. "Wrong move." Sabay kindat niya sa akin. Noooooo.
Itinakbo ni Kyle ang tsinelas ko. Sheeet! "Ano ba! Ibalik mo nga tsinelas ko!" Ohmygad. Nakakahiya talaga itong ginagawa ko. Buti na lang malayo ang tao sa amin. Nagmumukha kaming bata na naghahabulan!
"What? You want it?" tanong niya habang naglalakad patalikod. He's just a few meters away from me. At ang bilis niya tumakbo. How am I supposed to catch up with him? "Then come and get it." Wow ha? At talagang pinapahabol niya ako? No, thanks. I'm done with that now.
"Never mind!" sagot ko. Tinalikuran ko siya. at naglakad pabalik ng hotel. Bahala siya diyan! Sinasayang ko lang ang oras ko sa walang kwenta niyang pakulo. Napa--
I shrieked as he pulled my arm and carried me on his shoulder. What the fuck?! Binubuhat ako ni Kyle na parang sako lang ng bigas! "Ibaba mo ako!" Tuloy pa rin ang paglakad niya.
"Nope. Not until you say you miss me." Ano daw?! Miss ko siya? Okay lang siya? "I know you miss me, Xy. Say it." he said in a teasing voice.
"Wala kong dapat sabihin sa'yo! Ibaba mo na ako, Kyle!" pinagpapalo ko na ang likod niya ng mga kamay ko. Tapos sipa ako ng sipa. He just won't put me down!
"Na-miss mo ako? Oo o hindi?" tanong na naman niya. Naiinis na talaga ako. Para matapos na 'to, sinabunutan ko siya sa buhok. Mahigpit na sabunot talaga ang ginawa ko. Napangiwi siya.
"Aray! Aray!" he tried to pull my hand away. Di umobra. Isang kamay lang ang nakasuporta sa likod ko kaya naman nabitawan ako ni Kyle. Bumagsak ako sa buhangin. Pero masakit pa rin.
"Ba't mo ako binitawan?!" Halos mangiyak-ngiyak ang boses ko. Masakit kaya mahulog, lalo na't kung walang sasalo. Aw, hugot. "Bwiset ka talaga kahit kailan!" He just stood there looking at me. Hanggang sa umupo siya sa harap ko habang nakaluhod ang isang tuhod.
"Bwiset? Ever since?" he asked in a serious tone of voice. "Ganyan ba talaga tingin mo sa akin, Xy? All this time?" Damn you're right! I have the courage to say this...
"My life became so better when you left, Kyle! I hate your presence!" I cried. I stood up and left him. Tears started to blur my vision. I hate his guts for asking if I missed him all this time. I hate it when he let me fall. He really has no intention of catching me nor holding me tight to not let go. He always end up letting me go.
