KM ROOM at night
Kathir was sitting on the bed, upset and angry with what's going on in the house between Moorthy and Dhanam.
As much as he felt sorry for Dhanam, his anger towards his brothers, Moorthy whom he worships is equally high.
He couldn't work in the shop looking at his brothers, he couldn't keep calm knowing what Moorthy had done to Dhanam..
He wanted to ask..
He wanted to shout..
He wanted answers..
But he couldn't do any of it...
All he could do was to avoid Moorthy the entire day by going out to send deliveries and collect debts.
Night he came late after everyone slept, as an attempt to avoid dining together.
Mullai was waiting for him, when he came she offered dinner but he denied.
He went straight to wash up and to their room.
She didn't force him to eat knowing he wouldn't budge, so she took a tumbler of warm milk for him after clearing the kitchen, before getting to their room.
There she saw him, seated on the bed, head bowed down..
Looking into nothing...
Mind thinking away about Dhanam's sacrifice for their family..
His somber face..
His tear streaken cheeks...
Spoke volumes..
His eyes kept shedding angry tears..
He heard her coming in and latching their door..
He stood up immediately, about to get his mat..

He couldn't take his eyes from her hearing all this, she knows him so well.

He didn't say anything, he took the tumbler from her hand..

She looked at him alarmed at his sudden reaction.

He just nodded his head, indicating he is fine.
She extended to take the tumbler from him.

He brought it away and raised his other hand stopping her from taking it from him.
He stood up and placed the tumbler at the shelf beside their bed.
She realised his behavior was very cautious towards her, didn't question much though.
He slowly sat on the bed again, still lost in thoughts, not realising he sat nearer to her, brushing her thighs.
She noticed something on him and smiled..
The smile turned into little giggles but she managed to control it but not before he heard her.

He sounded devasted and tired, not in the mood to argue or joke around with her.
She understood his feelings and decided against teasing him, instead she took the end of her saree and casually wiped of the milk stain on his mustache with a concerned smiling face.

That motherly caring concern in her eyes..
