Chapter 1
I was really excited for today. Today was the day I got my new horse.
Well... Looked at a horse that I'm considering buying.
I'm 14 and have loved horses since I was 4, but my dad never got me one.
I live with my dad because when I was 2, my mom ran off with another man. She left my dad to be a single father and raise me on my own. I'm an only child, though.
Well... Back to the point...
Just a couple weeks ago he decided I was mature enough to get a horse.
So we found these people online, that are giving away their horse for free, to a good home.
"Were almost there," My dad said quietly from the drivers seat.
I plastered a huge smile across my face and nodded.
"So you have the paper with their name on it with you?" I pulled a wrinkled piece of paper out of my pocket. It read The Beara Family. I held it up so my dad could see it. "Good, and tell them we are here to pick them up and take them to the stable that they currently board the horse."
I rolled my eyes. "The horse happens to have a name. And do you remember that name?" My dad shook his head.
He's a cool dad and all but he has a really bad memory...
"Well its Luna." Just as I said that we pulled into the driveway.
I hopped out and ran to the door.
I knocked lightly and a lady answered. She was actually kind of short, about 5 foot 2, and she had straight brownish/blondish hair.
"Hi, Im Jessica Heartman. Me and my dad are here to pick you guys up to go look at the horse. Are you ready?" I said as sweetly as possible.
She nodded. "Of course, dear. Just let me get my son."
Son? Why would her son come?
"DANIEL! COME ON! LETS GO!" The mum yelled.
Her smiled as she slipped on her shoes. "Well I haven't introduced myself! Im Maria Beara, and my son is Daniel." About 20 seconds of awkward silence between me and the mum, her son-Daniel-Came racing down the stairs.
I was just opening my mouth when he pushed past me and went outside.
I shrugged and followed.
I allowed the mum to have the front seat with my dad. Daniel hopped in the back and so did I.
It was a silent car ride-Well for me and Daniel. Our parents chatted the whole time-.
When we got out of the truck I ran up ahead to talk to Daniel. I tried to make eye contact, but he had his hood over his head so I couldn't see a thing.
When we got into the barn, the mum showed me the horse and I rode it for about 20 minutes.
I went up to my dad and whispered, "Dad this is the horse I want."
He nodded and asked the Maria If it was ok. She said yes and they said they would be back in an hour. They had to go over everything.
I walked over to Daniel, who was sitting on the fence.
I got up on it beside him. "Hey."
He was about to turn around, but didn't.
"Why are you talking to me?" He said, barely a whisper.
Why wouldn't I?
"Um... I just want to make a new friend? Is there anything wrong with that?" I said smiling. But is not like it mattered. Why would I smile if the guy wasn't even looking at me.
"Well don't. Nobody wants to be friends with me. Im just the loner that everyone hates."
"Not everybody hates you. I don't hate you." I put a hand on his shoulder.
His horse trotted over and nuzzled his chest. Then the horse gently pushed him. Daniel fell backwards off the fence.
I covered my mouth with my hand.
I started laughing as soon as I realized that he fell in a pile of horse manure.
I giggled. But I noticed he still managed to keep his face hidden.
He extended a hand. "Well aren't you going to help me up?"
I laughed once more and put my legs over the fence so I was standing on the 2nd lowest bar.
I held onto the fence with one hand and put one out to Daniel to help him up.
As soon as I did, he pulled my hand and pulled me down to the ground with him.
We were both laughing until I fully opened my eyes.
I gasped. But it wasn't just me. He did to.
He was gorgeous. He had bright jade green eyes and dark brown messy hair.
I finally realized I was over top of him.
"I- I- Im... S-Sorry." I stuttered.
His eyes just kept wide, studying my features.
I got up to my feet and helped him up.
When I went to pull away my hand, he kept it in his. He squeezed it tight and smiled.
Chapter 2
2 Years Later
Daniel and I were walking out to my car to go home (No he doesn't live with me, he's just coming over).
When we got in the car we headed to my house.
When we got there, we were at the front of my house taking our coats off, when he said, "Jessie, I have to tell you something."
"What is it?" I asked.
It couldn't possibly be bad.
"I'm moving away."
I felt tears well up in my eyes.
I didn't want to hear anymore, so I ran up to my room.
I slammed it shut and slid down against it, sobbing into my hands.
He's my best friend. I cant lose him. I cant lose him because I love him. But I know I cant tell him that.
"Please, Jessie, let me in. Its not forever. Just for a couple of months. Please Jessica. I want to tell you something!" I cried out.
"I've heard enough from you!" I put my face into my knees and cried.
When I looked up He was standing in my room, staring at me. I could tell he was hurting to see me so sad, but I didn't care. He deserved to be feeling like I did right now.
I stood up. "How did you get in here?"
"Uh... I came through the door. How else would I get in here." He said.
"No! I was against the door the whole time." I said.
He stepped towards me and put a hand on my waist. With the other he gently wiped the tears away.
"You just imagining things, Jessie." He said.
No, Im not.
He pressed a finger against my lips.
"Just listen. What I'm about to tell you, you wont believe at all. But you have to promise not to tell anybody, ok?" He asked.
I nodded lightly.
"Im not normal. Im not like you or any other teenager. Im an angel, Jessie. And so are you. But my family and I have some work to do for a couple of months. So I have to go away." He whispered.
I shook my head. "So your trying to make it so poor little Jessicas feelings don't get hurt by telling me lies? Because that's what it sounds like." I growled through my teeth.
"No! Not at all! Im not lying Jessie! But there's one more thing I have to tell you." He whispered into my ear.
"What? Were cousins with Fairy's? Yay!" I said Sarcastically.
"Please, Jessica. This isn't a joke. Can you listen to me for two minutes? After that you can go back to thinking this is all a lie."
"Fine." I scowled.
He put both hands on my waist and gently pushed my up against he door.
"Since the day I met you, You have been my best friend. And I know that's all you think of me as. But I don't think of you that way."
"Oh great so all this time I've been friends with you for nothing? Well that's a total waste of 2 years."
"No! I mean, you my best friend, but I like you more than just a best friend." He lifted my chin so I was looking into his eyes. "I love you, Jess. More than life its self. And I cant live without you. But I have to go for these few months. I promise I will be back. You have to understand that I could never truly leave you forever. I would always come back. I love you, Jessie."
I let all the tension go in my muscles and just sank into his chest, crying.
"I love you to." I whispered into his chest.
