Lesley crawled over to me and I cried into her shoulder. How could he! Anger set in as I stood up looked Darius in the eyes, portraying anger.
“You think coming in here with someone that means a lot to me will change me to your side?!? Well, you’re wrong. I hope that one day you will die on terrible death for killing innocent people that have done NOTHING to you and that you’ve never met before.” I smack him across the face and walk back to Liam’s lifeless body. As soon as the surprise faded Darius walked over to me and grabbed the color of my shirt lifting my feet off the ground so I would be eye to eye with him.
“Never, NEVER, do that again! You hear me? Or you will regret the day you were born. Little girl, don’t mess with fire, you will only get burnt.” He said as his eyes burned with anger.
Without blinking an eye I responded, “Well I may be little but it is you that is playing with fire that will burn you to the ground. I suggest you lay off my friends or you’ll have to face me.”
With a grin growing across his face he threw me to the ground and said, “Well, let the war begin. And may I warn you, when you fight fire with fire all you get is ashes and ruins.” With that he walked away leaving Lesley, Liam, Xavier and I alone in the room.
I look over at Lesley and see her mouth hanging over is surprise. “I can’t believe you just did that. You stood up to Darius!!” She said as she helped me up. I just shrugged and walked back to Liam’s lifeless body. I kneel next to him and kiss him on the lips for the last time and rub my hand in his soft hair.
“It will be okay, Zoey. Things happen for a reason.” Lesley said rubbing my back as I stood up.
“I know, just wished it could have happened in a better way. I’ll never forget him.” A tear falls to the floor as I walk back out of her room and into my own. Xavier locks the door behind me and I lay on the floor. No one is here to see me so I burst out bawling my eyes out. It had to have been at least two hours of crying but when I finally ran out of tears I thought about the good times Liam and I had had together but it didn’t last long. Slowly my door opened and a guard walked in. He didn’t say a word and there was no need for it; I got up and headed for the door knowing it was time for some sort of torture.
We walked down tons of hallways and made so many turns it felt as if we were going in circles. Finally we reached a metal door to the right of one of the hallways. Sketched on the door was the number 413. My heart sunk a little when I read it. That number to me meant safety and shelter but know it means the room that will be my torture chamber. It’s funny how things like that can change in an instant.
I walked into the room and soon enough the door was shut and locked, leaving me in here alone. There was a metal table laying in the middle of the room and other gadgets that I had never seen before sat around it. I took a couple more steps inside when a door across the room opened and three people came in. Darius, a doctor of some sort, and the guard that took me to Darius the first time.
“Why don’t you take a seat?” Darius said with a grin across his face.
“I don’t accept the devil’s offers.” I said with a slight smile. Darius’s grin left as soon as I said it and looked at the guard to say, “Put her on the table, not gently though.” The guard walked over to me and I could see his eyes telling me he was sorry. He roughly grabbed my arms and dragged me to the table where he picked me up my the collar of my shirt and threw me down onto the table. I tried to soften the landing with my hands but my wrist gave out and all I heard was a ‘crack’ and pain fly up my whole body with the core at my left wrist. Great, now I can’t even write if I could.
“Awe, look ,the little girl go hurt. Is she going to cry?” Darius said in a voice like he was talking to a baby.
“No, sorry. You’re not going to see me cry again I can promise you that.” I said flatly as I tried to ignore the pain.
“Is that a challenge? I love challenges. Anyway, because this will be the highlight of my day, let’s move on! You can pick, it’s either A, B, C, or D. I’m not going to tell you which one is which so you better hope you pick the right one.” Darius said as he took a couple steps so he was inches from me.
“C.” I say staring into his cold eyes with anger in mine.
“Good choice. You have chosen the more modern version of The Iron Maiden. But don’t worry, we will take you out before you bleed to death.” Darius grabbed me of the table by my hair and dragged me to the corner of the room where a cabinet looking thing stood. He opened the doors and spikes poked out. I remember hearing about this once. They strategically put spikes on the door to hit vital organs but they are short enough to not kill the victim right off. After a series of hours they bleed to death.
“Have fun! Oh and remember no one can hear your screams.” Darius said with his famous grin across his face once again as he pushed me into the Iron Maiden. I tried with all my might to get out of the grip of Darius and the guard but it was two against one so it was pointless. When they finally get me into it fully they slowly closed the doors.
