Darkness was empowering New York City, the moonlight was lightly illuminating the empty streets, normally crowded by the busy entrepreneurs, creating shaky shadows here and there. The deafening silence was haunting the young woman's thoughts, leading her to doubt every single move she was making. The house was only a few blocks away, yet she was feeling insecure. She didn't think twice about closing her cherry red coat, covering it with a single arm hanging below her breasts.
She crossed the street without looking both ways, speeding up as soon as she saw the shadow of a man behind hers.
Was he following her or was her paranoia playing her tricks ?
She muttered a small 'shit' beneath her breath when she felt a presence right behind her. Two strong arms slid down her waist, causing her to freeze like an Eskimo.
"Hmm, you smell heavenly tonight." She instantly recognized the raspy voice whispering in her neck.
"Montgomery! Screw You !" She shouted, breaking the awful silence. A small chuckle escaped the teenagers lips when she hit his chest with her small hand. She looked adorable trying to hurt such a strong built guy.
"Where are you going?" He asked, walking by her side. "Home, wanna join ?"
The house was just a couple meters away, Sidney brought her shiny black purse closer to her stomach, her ivory white boots clicking on the tarred ground. She felt safe with Montgomery, felt as if she was free and less worried than she already was. The stress consumed her like a fire burning a house down. How ? Why ? She wouldn't know how to answer such intrusive yet interesting questions.
"I've got stuff to do, just wanted to check on you" he shrugged, hanging an arm loose around her shoulders. Standing on the front porch, the two teenagers hugged a last goodbye for the night, walking away just like two magnets repelling each other, something was between them that kept attraction afar, a heavy secret that was haunting the young people's lives, something too heavy to carry to their graves, but that's how trust worked, didn't it ?
With a single knock on the door, Anne instantly greeted her, engulfing her into a hug as if her daughter has been lost for weeks. She kissed her forehead, acted so motherly. Sidney wouldn't know if she loved or hated they way her dear mother acted, she wasn't five for gods sake, she was seventeen, all grown up, yet her decisions weren't mature enough.
If only she knew what happened earlier today, Anne wouldn't drown her in kisses.
Making a step ahead to get away from her mother sloppy kisses, Sidney went straight to the living room, the blasting sound of the music was making it hard to live. She enjoyed progressive rock but at the end of the day, she was exhausted, tired of the loud music she would dance to every single day.
She glanced at her pouting sister sitting across the TV, it looked like something important, she shrugged it off and walked away.
Lucy was a beautiful woman, short black hair crowning her heart shaped face, face that was covered by short ebony locks that fell on her forehead. She had the sweetest smile and the most beautiful features, no wonder why every guy was at her mercy.
Sidney was kind of flattered, her twin sister would get compliments about her looks and how sexy she was, but Sidney was neglected, she was only a piece of brain to people, she knew that the compliments were also directed to her since she was a copy of her twin. An evil copy ?A smart one for sure.
"Some kinda psycho is going on a killing spree and you're wandering the streets like a lost puppy" Lucy was a loud chewer, a bad habit she couldn't help since she was asthmatic.
Sidney's face expression went blank, did Montgomery open his dirty mouth again ?
She felt helpless, stupid for telling her best friend about the situation. The young woman didn't spend time chatting, the migraine was kicking in, thing that would happen on extreme situations.
She felt unsafe, but that, that's how she felt on a daily basis.
